Chapter 2 - Forbidden Forest

Many beasts began to look away from him in disdain however some began to growl and ponce towards his location in groups.

Upon seeing the vast number of enemies Lykourgos began to shiver and freeze up in fear. This was after all the very first time he had seen real danger outside of the palace's walls of cruel words.

Only when his spear began to vibrate at high speeds did he take action. Its emotions once again began to come out in waves. The feelings it felt towards him had suddenly changed, all it felt not was disdain and that he was unworthy of its power so it suddenly doubled in weight. And tried to free itself from his grasp.

'Am I going to die all because I wasn't worthy enough to wield a spear? The very same weapon I've been training my entire life for?!' Lykourgos thought to himself in self-pity but hidden behind that thin layer was sheer rage.

His feet began to move forward on instinct, being irrational and meeting the group of beasts head-on. To such a motion Thunder vibrated with excitement.

The first beast to lay eyes on Lykourgos was a snake with brown feathers and scales, its eyes a dark shade of green. When it was within two feet of him it opened its mouth and hissed before launching a ray of Earth Element particles.

Pulling with it materials and ores from the ground on which its body lay. And from its behind a wolf with orange and black fur launched a conversion attack of both fire and darkness launching both elements into an orb of spiraling orange and black.

Facing death with wide terrified eyes, Lykurgous stood there rooted to the ground before dashing backward. His reflects just barely kicking in enough to dodge the beam of earth, using Thunder to help pivot the attack and shift his weight.

And when the orb of fire and darkness came flying inches past his head he signed a breath of relief…that was until two birds came flying out of the group of beasts. Two blue ravens came firing jets of water though the other soon stopped and began firing shards of ice.

Being hit again and again by the strong jets of water would cause his balance and weight to shift directions leaving him open for attacks from the ice raven.

Soon three small shards of ice pierced Lykourgos' back and he let out a cry of pain. Then another two familiar attacks were fired his way and impacted his stomach.

Though this was the result Lykourgos had wanted, he wanted to gain more space away from his enemies to release an attack of his own. Soon mana particles began to rush toward his brain. He slowly raised his burned hand which had taken most of the blow from the two beasts. And as he opened his palm, ear-piercing vibrations and sounds began to be discharged.

Causing the ravens to falter and drop out of the sky, and the snake to shake about violently. Lastly causing the wolf to pass out and its eyes to slowly drift to the back of its head as a spear was launched through its skull.

After throwing Thunder, Lykourgos slowly began to make his way to the two ravens. Increasing the frequency of the sound waves released from his palm with every step of the way until finally, the two ravens exploded into a mess of blood and gore.

After ending the ravens he travels to the snake that was still jerking around in pain within its earth skin. However, just like the wolf, it held two affinities and the second one only now made its existence known.

All of the brown wings on the snake flew off as a bubble of air enclosed the snake's body. Having to dodge these scaly wings from the snake further limited his already poor movement. And he no longer had his spear on him and his senses were beginning to focus on his burned hand and the shards of ice in his back somewhat diverting his attention from dodging.

Lykourgous didn't have much experience in fighting; he could only practice certain moves with his practice spear that he had abandoned in the palace. And with such wounds slowing him down it was no wonder he didn't dodge the five wings.

Even though he had another reason for not dodging, saving his last affinity as a trump card of sorts for all the beasts still eyeing him, it turned out he would need to use it far earlier than he had expected.

Loud thuds rang out in the forest as each feather struck Lykourgos' chest, nonetheless a tear in the air occurred. In its place, left was a size small enough to place one's hand and another appeared within the snake's air bubble. Lastly, there was one above the shaft of Thunder.

Lykourgos reached into the tear and pulled out his spear, and the small tear that had previously surrounded Thunder vanished as it appeared within his hand. The tip of Thunder's spear was then thrust into the snake's head with a single swift thrust.

"I… won!" Lykourgos spoke, in short, breaths as using even this much of his Spatial Affinity was taxing on his stamina especially when he was covered in wounds.

His hands were as black as charcoal with a large chunk of flesh and skin missing from them. Five small holes were made in the center of his body, where the feathers were before they soon fell to the ground. And lastly, two slowly melting ice shards within his back slowly leaking with blood. It was safe to say that this wasn't much of a victory at all, but considering the realms of all the beasts he had just fought his condition could be considered light.

Lykourgos slowly skinned the snake of all its skin which was only possible due to his high-grade weapon, using the snake skin he tied it around his arm tightly making it almost look like a sleeve. And with the wolf's corpse he made a warm coat of orange and black fur.

It would have been pretty if left up to someone else but left up to Lykourgos it was just as poorly made as his attempts of stopping the blood from oozing out of his arm. With that all set and done he slowly limped out of the area before spotting and resting in a nearby cave.
