Isabella watched the lady's car make a turn and when she met the woman's eyes, she smiled because the woman waved cheerfully at her.
Isabella never knew someone was actually admiring her secretly. And now, she was offered a job which was almost the same as the job she resigned from. And this time, she assumed she'd be living with the lady's son.
Well, tomorrow was her sister's surgery and if she pass through that which would fill her with extreme joy, she'd visit the lady to get more information about the job.
Mia had told her friends that she won't attend school the next day but she didn't inform her acquaintance, Gabe.
So when he resumed school the next day searching for her, he didn't find her only to receive information from her friends that she would skip school and resume on Monday.
Gabe didn't know why he felt upset about it and why he hated that she didn't bother to tell him. Then it hit him that he hadn't reached anywhere in getting her heart. She still didn't find him intriguing and felt nothing for him. This challenged him, he was going to win her heart and from Monday he'd be more adamant.
Isabella and her sister, Mia had settled on the chair outside the operating room waiting for their sister. They had kissed her hand and assured Hannah that they'd be here waiting for her.
Hannah also had smiled, she believed that she wouldn't make it out of the operating room, she believed it was the last time she'd see her sister so tears fell from her eyes as the doctors pushed the stretcher deeper into the room.
Soon, everything turned black and the monitor beeping was the loudest sound in the room as she was being operated on.
Isabella and Mia spent more than two hours outside the room. Thoughts flooded through their minds as they had little faith that their sister would battle it all and return to them.
Eventually, the doctors walked out with their sister on the stretcher. Isabella quickly went to the doctor to ask how it went. Her ears were able to hear good news which caused her to jubilate.
Isabella, with joy, went to Mia and hugged her as tight as she could. "Hannah is fine, I told you she wasn't...she..." Tears fell from her eyes as she watched the doctors transport the stretcher to another room.
"Hannah is fine," Isabella settled on the chair again and began to cry. It was now she believed that she did nothing bad.
If she hadn't done what she did, she wouldn't have been able to save her sister.
Her heart suddenly felt heavy again because thoughts of what-ifs began to occupy spaces in her mind.
"Hannah," Isabella sighed the heaviness in her heart out and let herself express her mixed emotions.
Mia watched her sister cry. She knew she should be happy but why she didn't know how to express her emotions was unknown to her. She just stared at her sister and gradually with thoughts filling her mind, she smiled and sat next to her sister.
"We should be happy, Isabella. Hannah is fine and she isn't going to feel pain in her stomach, she won't vomit blood anymore. She won't look sick or dead. You did it..." And her eyes suddenly began to sparkle. Tears filled her eyes until they piled up to fall over her cheek.
"I don't know how to feel, you know, what if I didn't raise the money? Hannah," as if short of breath, Isabella turned to her sister.
Mia had nothing to say so she just gathered her sister into her arms. "She's fine, that's the main thing we should think of. Hannah will be with us again," Mia muttered as she stared into space.
Now they were outside the room Hannah staying in. The doctor had told them that they couldn't see her until she was awake as the doctors had some things to check up on.
The sisters obeyed and waited outside the door watching their sister through the window. Isabella was watching her sister and smiling. Now that she had saved her sister, she'd visit the lady and know more about the job.
Tomorrow would be Saturday meaning the woman would be home all day if she was aiming to rest.
Hannah didn't open her eyes until it was dusk. Isabella was the first to witness her sister awake so she informed the doctor.
Still, by the window, she watched as the doctor checked on her sister. When he was done, he called them in but told them that she couldn't go home for now as the surgery wasn't minor. Hannah would have to stay in the hospital so they could keep checking on her.
Isabella agreed and went in to see her sister. She was still pale but this time, Isabella didn't view her sister as a sick person. She looked at her sister as someone who would come home with her soon.
"Hannah!" She leapt at her sister and place her head on her chest gently. "I told you that you won't leave us...here you are...fine and with us," even when Isabella had told herself not to cry, she couldn't hold back her tears when she heard her sister's heartbeat.
"Mia," Hannah noticed Mia standing a little far from her so she gestured for her to come close.
With that, both of them were now in front of her. "Thank you," she uttered, her eyes being more grateful than her words. "Isabella," Hannah turned to her sister. "Thank you for your sacrifice, I'm alive and here with you and it's the best thing. I'm really sorry for worrying you so much," Hannah also expressed her emotions by crying.
However, she felt weaker than before the surgery but she thought it to be the effect of the surgery she had. She was feeling sleepy again but she needed to talk to her sister.
"We are sisters," Isabella spoke.
"I know but it takes so much to gather the courage to help your sister by making such a sacrifice and I'm more than grateful. Thank you, Isabella. Mia..." She looked at her sisters and forced a smile. "I'll always love the both of you," she whispered with a grimaced face before gathering them into her hands. She was still lying on the bed so she brought their head close to her chest only to fall asleep afterwards.
