DEVON
The function was about to begin, and the host requested all the guests to take their seats. I didn't bother with meaningless meetings and handshakes anyways and was already glued to my chair, enjoying my drink while observing my surroundings carefully.
I avoided looking in my family's way though I could feel dad's heated glare drilling holes at the back of my head.
Christine came to sit beside me, but she looked more nervous than I should feel about tonight.
"Where is she?" I asked her, leaning to her ear.
"I don't know. I checked the entire hall and yet there is no sign of her." Christine threw a cursory glance at Mason before she whispered back. "Do you think your cousin knows about her? I don't see his piggy around here."
She referred to Jeremy. I had also noticed that Jeremy, who followed his boss like a shadow was nowhere to be seen.
"I just hope she doesn't do anything stupid tonight at least." I gritted through my teeth.
