ELENA
Days passed by in a blur, and my finger hovered over Mason Burke's number I managed to squeeze out from Smith with the help of Joanna.
Every evening I would sit outside dad's hospital room and stare at his number for a long time, contemplating if I should call him and ask for his help. Because there was no one else who could help me in my situation.
The only other person who was already helping me with dad's case had left me baffled during our last conversation.
-"I don't forget the betrayals so easily, Elena. That's another weakness of mine!"-
That new sentence had sent chills down my spine more than once. It had also kept me away from calling him when I needed him the most.
But I was not ready to beg him or anyone for that matter. Just like every day, a nurse came to call me at the reception desk. I knew why and thus didn't want to go there.
