I wanted to yell in his face that I didn't betray him... yet!
But I refrained myself from doing that. Instead, I matched his piercing and mocking gaze with my calm and determined one.
"You wouldn't have considered entertaining me by ruining your date if you didn't trust me, Devon."
And for some stupid, stupid reason I wanted him to believe me. So desperately that I could repeat that sentence over and over again until he did.
I refused to break our eye contact. Maybe he would understand the language of eyes if not my words.
I know it's cliche, but... that was how I felt at that time.
