Ignoring Christine's Cheshire smile, I parked the car in the parking lot beside Sheriff Bolt's Jeep. I checked my phone to see Joanna's message that said she would be here in ten minutes.
Checking myself in the rearview mirror once, I stepped out of the car and followed Sheriff's tall and lanky frame inside the restaurant.
It was a familiar place. This was my and dad's night out spot ever since I remember. My legs automatically carried me to my favourite table near the window.
The cosy old restaurant hadn't changed its interior for what seemed like ages. To hide the chapped paint and cracks in the wall, they had stuck posters of all kinds without following a uniform theme.
The one that was right in front of me was a guffawing cow, and that creeped me out more than any other thing. Thankfully Sheriff's tall frame hid it from my view.
"What would you like to order?" He asked, checking their old menu that had become sticky with the mustard sauce and ketchup.
