ELENA
It was past ten in the morning, and Joanna had to leave for the office. She still looked much like a sleep-deprived person, but at least she was doing better than me.
She went to her home to get cleaned up but not before she made breakfast for us. She didn't trust me with the fire and eggs, just like dad.
Once she left, I took some time to get a long hot bath to release the tension from the night from my system.
Now that I had rested a little and freshened up, I found myself more in a comfortable space where I could think clearly.
I set the table with breakfast before going to dad's room. I placed my ear on his door, but no sounds came from the other side. I waited, contemplating how should I approach him.
With uncertain thoughts, I raised my hand to knock on his door. I didn't expect him to open it on the second knock itself.
When I finally took in his form, he looked... better. Much better than I expected.
