My head was spinning, and if it wasn't for these ropes tied around me, I would have fallen to my knees by now. The thick silence felt suffocating. I couldn't lift my gaze to look at Elena because she was staring right in my way, though her eyes were fixated on Dad.
But... how could that be possible? How could Dad do that?
"Dad... is that... true?" I dared to open my mouth, glancing his way.
His face was as hard as ice. He didn't answer immediately so I asked again, "Dad please tell me if it's true."
I trusted Elena wholeheartedly. I knew she would never lie about something like that, not to me anyway. But I needed to hear it from Dad. I wanted to know how he could do such a thing.
"Yes!"
I felt like the earth had split under my feet, and I was falling into dark oblivion.
"V-Victor...?"
Mom's meek voice fell on my ears, but the shock in it was as clear as daylight.
Did she not know about it?
