Madison ran her shaky hand through her long silky hair with a shuddering breath. The expensive cosmetics helped her to keep the softness of her hair, but their shine was gone. They helped her look beautiful as always but didn't bring out the radiance.
Her hazy eyes looked around at the crowd, lost in their own happy world. People were laughing, eating, playing and enjoying themselves with their friends and family.
A bitter dry laugh tore through her throat as she shook her head lightly.
Family!
What a fucked up concept it was! Her parents had imbibed its importance so much into her that she had sacrificed all her dreams and aspirations to prove her belief right. She had gone beyond her limits, just to have that picture-perfect family.
She foolishly believed that it was possible and that she indeed had a picture-perfect family all her life. But one day, it took only one day to break her that delusion in the most painful way.
