ELENA
I was nervous when I stepped inside the bedroom that night after dinner. It was already late, and Devon was again on his laptop with a frown settled on his face.
I closed the door behind me gently and waited for him to look up at me. But when he didn't, I walked inside the bathroom to get ready to sleep.
While I was brushing my teeth, I contemplated if I should talk to him. We were not on great terms lately, but that didn't mean we didn't talk at all.
It was worth taking the chance, I thought before stepping out of the bathroom. Yet he was still on his laptop, sitting in a comfortable chair in the corner of the room.
I walked to the bed and sat on the edge, holding it tightly to stop myself from scratching my thumb.
You are not doing anything wrong, so stop getting nervous, I scolded myself.
"Devon"
"Devon?" I called him twice to gain his attention.
But he didn't look up from the screen and hummed. "Hmm?"
"I... wanted to talk to you."
"Hmm"
"It's important."
