DEVON
As soon as I received Joanna's call, I sprinted out of the meeting room, leaving everyone flabbergasted. Taking the keys from George, I drove like crazy, piercing through the traffic to reach home in record time.
By the time I entered through the door, I was panting like I had run a marathon.
"Elena? El-"
"Shhhh," Joanna shushed me while sitting on the bed beside Elena's sleeping form.
I rushed toward Elena and touched her forehead only to feel how hot her body was.
"She is having fever. Don't worry I have given her medicines. She will be fine by evening... I hope."
I couldn't explain what thoughts ran through my head and how my heart bore the speed at which it was beating in fright.
"What happened?" I finally looked up at Joanna, who herself looked shaken.
I observed her closely to see her face had lost colour and her blue eyes were misty behind her glasses. I glanced down at her hands to see them trembling slightly.
"Come," She said before standing up.
