DEVON
I yawned, turning from one side to the other, only to grunt in uncomfortableness. My back ached after sleeping on that small old couch. But at least my headache was gone, and I felt better after getting some rest.
Yawning again, I picked up my phone from the coffee table to see it was already evening. Four hours had passed, and I had about a dozen missed calls related to work.
My heart was saddened seeing that not mom nor aunt tried to reach me even once.
I placed my phone on my chest and remained laying while staring at the roof of Elena's house. The silence was comforting, but it also invited the hurricane of thoughts that had exhausted me in the first place.
I was not ready to deal with it just yet.
I decided to get up, only to learn the lesson of never sleeping on this couch again. I stretched my arms and twisted my body to relax the strained muscles.
