hoping that the water would wash away Yuri's blood. As Victor gazed at the corpse he realized how truly sad this entire situation was. Even if the boy didn't mean that much to him, he had been a nice person.
But now? Victor wasn't very pleased with his decision at all. He had no intention of keeping Yuri' s corpse lying in front of the fountain forever, but he knew that there was nothing that he could possibly do to get rid of it so he decided to bury him somewhere in his backyard instead.
He had never really liked doing these things in his village since he always felt dirty doing such a disgusting task but after thinking about it for a while he figured that maybe, just perhaps, he might actually be able to convince his dad to allow him to go to another village like this one so that he could leave everything behind him and come to work at a bigger farm so that he could live comfortably.
Huguel became leader of the Jacaré Sul favela after Yuri died, and the first thing that he did when he became leader was to send his son's body away from the favela, along with all the other dead bodies of the other villagers.
The next few weeks passed with some awkwardness and tension between both Victor and his dad, but it wasn't unusual for them to argue at times
However, despite all the fighting and disagreements, they never gave up on each other. They loved each other dearly
So one night, two weeks after Yuri was killed, after his dad got home from a night shift at the mill, he found his son' s body laying on the floor. Victor didn't sleep that night either, he stared out of the window and watched the starlight shine brightly on the ground, wondering if the stars were laughing at him at night or mocking him for losing hope. But most of all he wondered whether Yuri was smiling up at the stars as usual and wished that he was there with him.
At this point in time, however, there was nothing left to do. Victor was only seventeen and his father was twenty one and his mother was sixty three. They had enough money to buy whatever food that they needed from their land and they weren't planning to waste it on useless luxuries, which is why Victor decided to become a farmer instead of working in the factory. It was the only way he could repay everyone for giving Yuri to him so that he could fulfill his dream of becoming an adult.
Victor sat quietly at the kitchen table, eating breakfast quietly. His family were currently gathered at the table, also quietly.
Huguel POV
When he heard his son walk down the stairs early that morning, he couldn't help but think back to how Yuri had died
"Why'd you kill him Huguel?" Victor asks, not turning to look at his Huguel
Huguel frowns
Huguel: because he betrayed us...he was a threat that we needed eliminated.
