As Rex saw the bird die, he felt that he had already been uncovered. That was fine. He knew sooner or later he would have to confront the king.
"So much changed with me. I wonder what will be next?" Rex pondered.
Even though the king was not very influential. He was still a King nonetheless, so the amount of time it takes for stuff to happen can change in a moments notice.
The guards deciding it was best to choose to side with the Princess. All silently agreed to ask if they could join his army.
"Sir, can I ask a personally question?" One guard stepped up.
"To me or to the old man?" Rex asked.
Rex gave the go ahead.
"How many of us could join the guardsmen under you?" He asked.
Rex looked at everyone. Even if their loyalty was with the King, upon hearing how the Queen died. They were willing to bet that most of them were either forced to participate or forced to keep their mouths shut.
No one would want that, even if they decided to betray the King now. He had already betrayed their trust.
"How many of you wish to join?" Rex asked.
All the guards raised their hands.
"Good. We have to divide and conquer to make sure that the King as little support as possible or we need to make his death quick." Rex answered to everyone raising their hands.
"I can make sure that his food and drinks are poisoned. Although, I might die in the process. At least he will be of commission." Another guard raised his hand and spoke loudly.
Hearing how people would help the Princess now. Shocked even the old man, he was still happy to know how people felt.
The biggest problem now was how were they going to allow Rex to enjoy the Queen and Princess. That would be the finally of making Rex at least King in the Nine Realms.
"How long until you will be ready to take the Princess and Queen into your room Demon King?" The old man asked.
Rex just looked at the old man. The two women were ready to go immediately, because this was their way of just trying to get rid of the man that they now despised.
"We need to make sure that we take care of the guards first. Besides, if they want to stay with me. It will be because they love me not out of obligation." Rex said.
The old man just smiled because this was even better than what he hoped for. Rex did not deny their beauty but the first attempt to just get into bed.
"Youth does need some time, even in today's time." The old man began to recall his younger days.
While he was in his daze, everyone just began to discuss what the proper way to deal with the King was.
"We can say that the old cook, decided to poison the food." One guard said.
"That would cause too much tension. Unless it was after we tasted the food." Another guard said.
That did make some of the guards happy. The Princess decided to set beside Rex. She needed the Demon Army as a backup in case all else fails.
"So can the Demon Army help take my father out?" The Princess asked.
"Depends how many soldiers would be willing to fight for the King." Rex answered.
He was not going to tell her that he could handle multiple armies just by himself, without the need for an army.
"If the army does mobilize, it would be probably around twenty-four thousand. This is counting that everyone makes the attempt to join his cause." She replied.
Rex frowned because that was too little to even call an army from the Ninth Realm. He was still anxious to fight like he used to.
'Ding'
Rex checked the notification.
"The Princess is wanting you to take her to bed Quest"
"Option 1: Straight up deny her"
"Option 2: Explain it later to your Wives"
"Option 3: Tell her to wait until the War is over"
Rex was not going to just deny her, if she was truly wanting to do it for cooperation and/or later marriage. He was also not just going to do it and explain how weak he is mentally to his wives.
"Just wait to see what happens, you already have my support. If the demon army does have to mobilize for that war. Then we can for sure do the deed afterwards. If the army does not have to mobilize, then we do not necessarily need to do the deed." Rex replied giving her a side hug.
She felt that this was better for Rex. For her personally, she did want to give it to him and worry about the consequences later.
Even the Queen smiled that her daughter actually found someone decent instead of being a complete jerk, like her husband.
The guards finally came up with the plan to kill the King without the need for the Demon Army.
It would take a few guards actually stepping down and trying to become a rogue cultivator. That would be fine since the money they had in savings would at least let their families survive.
"How many of you will become rogue cultivators?" Rex asked.
Four raised their hands and they were given special instructions to visit the Sects of Demon and Maximim.
As for why they were told to, not even Demon and Maximum could figure it out. Until the day that the war started and they rallied the Sects together to charge towards the King.
