"Gaburu…"
"Cross the swamp with the help of the ropes attached.", Rei said in a deep voice.
Gaburu was indeed shaken by those words.
"You little piece of shit! Pile of garbage! Why should I listen to you!?" was what Gaburu intended to say to Rei but the moment he made eye contact with Rei he felt heavy, a lot of pressure on himself as if someone just kept a giant hand on him.
The sense of superiority was oozing off from Rei.
The current Rei reminded him of the orc chief. Whenever he was in their presence he would feel an invincible pressure.
At that time the other goblins too wanted to say something as Rei wasn't affected by the deaths of some goblins who were washed away by the swamp, but a simple stare in his emotionless eyes was more than enough to make them quiet.
Soon Gaburu crossed the swamp reaching the other side and as soon as he did the hint of shining red vanished from Rei's eyes and so did his emotionless expression.
"Huh?" He looked around.
At that moment Gaburu too seemed surprised as the invisible pressure he was feeling on himself just a movement ago suddenly disappeared.
But as they were running out of time they had to hurry to reach the place and poison the orc soldiers.
They dashed deeper and deeper inside the forest. No one said a word and the only thing heard were the light footsteps of the goblins.
Even though the goblins belonged to a weak race, they possessed something that could be called advantage – their Night Vision. In fact, they could camouflage themself in the night and were almost impossible for the orcs to locate them with just their naked eyes.
But the orcs had a very good sense of smell and to counter that, Rei and the goblins had covered their scent with a special type of leaf.
"Scout. Scout the area." There were some special types of goblins who were trained to be scouts, not that trained by were given some basic knowledge.
Their fingertip was as sharp as a knife and they had enough strength to pull themselves up the tree. Their vision was better than normal goblins.
There were a total of seven such goblins present within them. They quickly started to climb to the trees and reached their topmost part. With their amazing eyesight, they were able to see what was ahead of them.
What they saw was a giant cave and multiple huts surrounding the cave. There were multiple guards around one of the big huts. There were many smaller caves as well – about three.
All the scouts then returned and said every detail they found out to Rei.
After planning accordingly, Rei gave a few instructions.
"Well, I guess we might be able to complete this mission with fewer casualties," Rei said to bring hope to other goblins' minds but he inwardly knew that most of them will die here. He felt immense rage inside the more he thought about the situation.
He wanted to kill the Orc Chief.
But he first needed to survive for that.
He then shook his head and dashed towards the place.
The scouts and the spies, both of them mentioned that the Orc Chief Baramun actually lived in a large Hut rather than the cave.
'Their orc chief is so smart… He is using a hut as his home instead of a large cave, unlike our orc chief who just sleeps like a pig on top of his throne in the cave.'
'What if the cave falls on him? He will be able to survive but not without fatal injuries.'
'He keeps on munching on meat every time I see him, even on the battlefield I have seen him without weapons but haven't seen him without any food. He is a brainless pig!', Rei shouted inwardly. He was feeling immense rage due to which he was trying to find faults of the orc chief in every way possible.
-"Hahaha! Stop roasting your master! He got third-degree burns because of you. Hahaha."- Lucas started laughing, reminding his existence once again.
Rei thought of stopping Lucas' laugh and thus asked him a question, 'You have not answered me… What are you?'
And it worked, Lucas stopped laughing and became serious, answering Rei's question.
-"Well, you could think of me as a trapped spirit."- Lucas said to which Rei's brows furrowed.
'Like a ghost?'
-"Ya similar but like a trapped ghost in an object."-
'Ah, were trapped in that head protector…?'
-"It's a VR helmet."-
'Fancy name for a head protector.'
-"..."-
'…'
-"You! Sigh. Sometimes I forget that I am talking to a stone."-
'By the way, when you said about yourself being a ghost trapped in an object, then that means the head protector was actually a cursed weapon, right?', Rei asked.
-"Cursed weapon?"- Lucas repeated in confusion.
'Yes, cursed weapon.'
'Don't you know about it?'
-"Uh, I do know, but I just want to check your knowledge. What are they?"- Lucas asked.
He knew what a cursed weapon was, after all, he was not from this world and the concept of such a weapon was very popular in many mangas, but he still wanted to hear from Rei.
'A cursed weapon is a legendary weapon that becomes cursed after its user's death. In most cases they cursed their user trapping their soul.' Listening to what Rei said, Lucas became somewhat confused but soon realized that Rei was referring to the headset as the cursed weapon.
The object he bought was just an ordinary VR set. The cheapest VR set of TLOW but now it seemed like there was more of a story to it. Something that was out of the norm, out of Lucas's or anyone's understanding – after all, it entering the game or reincarnation, they all seemed somewhat related to the VR set.
-'Does this really have something to do with the VR set...? Or is this merely a coincidence?'- Lucas thought to himself.
