"Okay, that's it. I have no interest in playing with you anymore."
He stated with a narrowing face after recovering from her kick. There was no noticeable bruise on him, even the one on his cheek had disappeared.
He licked his finger and slid his roughed white hair backward, making it a slick back again, with a strand falling out on his face.
His eyes gleamed with a gentle white streak that could barely be seen in that millisecond–Before the streak disappeared, it moved like lightning leaving a trace to Ganglati's movement which no one saw.
He was fast. Faster than any of them had ever seen.
Before she could realize what was going on, her body was twirling in the air, and with a kick into her chest, she darted away into the wind crashing into the farthest building from them.
Ganglati dropped his smoking feet and brought out a large cigar and a lighter. Lit it on fire and began to smoke.
While the sly neighbor sat there on the ground broken and shaking.
This was probably the best time to ask but she couldn't find her voice. No matter how much she tried to talk, she felt like her throat was sinking.
And the only thing she could hold onto was the words that haunted her:
'What have I done? What have I done? What have I done?'
She screamed in her head, unable to find her voice. She was out of it in every way. Her eyes lost focus, they lost life. Her sins weighed more on her than her desire to find her husband.
She wasn't a bad person, she didn't know it was going to turn out like this. She just wanted to find her husband. She didn't know she was dealing with a hideous being.
Finally after a few smokes, Ganglati, lowered his gaze to the woman on the ground, his large earrings, clinking with every slight movement of his head.
"Oh, you... that's right. You are still here."
The melanin lady lifted her shaking eyes as he spoke. Even though she was devastated about what she had done to Ayo. She desperately wanted to know about her husband's location.
"Uhh... I don't know."
Her eyes shot open!
It was like a heavy weight was lifted off her chest at the same time it was mortifying. How did she even fall for this?
"B-b-but you knew h-h-his name?"
In a breaking and lifeless tone, her words escaped for once.
"Ah, that is right. Let me tell you this. I am Ganglati, loyal servant of the Monarch of the underworld... and I read your memories with this."
He showed her the compass-like rondure he was holding.
"I don't care what happened to your husband, you had a vulnerable mind I could pest on. I have searched the mind of almost all the humans in this country, I couldn't find a single person that had come across Phanes Authority until I met you."
He grinned and released another smoke before continuing;
"So raise your chin and be glad. You shall be remembered when your soul comes to the underworld."
His words caused a hot burning sensation in her chest and it caused her to glare at him with a murderous gaze but a moment later, she lowered her head, grinding her teeth. There was nothing a powerless fellow like her could do after all.
"Good, it's good that you know your place."
He smirked and walked closer to Ayo. Then he pointed the rondure to him.
The object began to emit golden light, it slowly went brighter and brighter, and just when the air looked like something was about to burst out of the object, the light faded.
"Huh?"
Shocked, he raised the rondure to his face.
"How can this be?"
His eyeballs were shaking as he was unknowing of what was going on.
The object in his hand was personally taken from the treasury of Helfhiem and was one of the highest-grade objects that was capable of capturing a soul. With no definite way to take out Phanes Authority, Ganglati was sure that if he took out the reincarnator's soul, Phanes Aunt will naturally come out with it.
But this item, the glyph of Ándali, had never failed before. What was going on?
Ganglati was thrown into utter confusion, he could do nothing but look at the object in his hands and point it to Ayo again.
It was to no avail.
A low chuckling sound then came from below. Annoyed, he lowered his face to the lady on the floor.
"You have a lot of gut laughing at this situation. I could kill you like a cockroach."
"You think I care at this point."
Whatever was left of her sully face stiffened up and wore a swathe of determination. She looked like she was ready to die.
More concerned about what was happening to the item in his hand, Ganglati averted his gaze and looked at it.
He clasped his hand around it and tucked it into his pocket.
"Well, this changes nothing. I just have to take him back with me if that is the case."
He stepped forward but before he could take another step, the woman threw herself to his front, standing with her arms spread apart.
"I would rather die than let you touch him!"
"Hunan, you are weak and fickle. And unlike that girl that is probably dead now, you have not awakened your innate ability. How exactly do you plan to stop me? Throw papers?"
Despite his priggish words, her composure did not show, nor did she show any signs of intimidation or fear.
'If protecting him is the last thing I will do. Then so be it.'
She was cocky. But she was determined.
Ganglati raised his chin, now horribly irritated. He glared at her with condescending eyes then took the fat cigar out of his mouth, put the flames put with his index finger, and dropped the cigar.
"Move away."
His voice was laced with intimidation and his eyes glowered with the same white streak again.
But the lady stood her ground, her brows furrowed together and her hand horizontally stretched.
"You are not going to touch him"
"Ah, fuck you."
Slap!!
His hand tore through the air kissing her cheek and causing it to ripple before she smacked her head on the ground and fainted.
