Chapter 34 - Selvarin (2)

Ayo counted his wits, he thought of all possible routes he could take to this but with his slowed body and tiredness setting in. He felt confident of none of them. Perhaps it was just the kind of person he was.

As a very strong person in the past, there was nothing he wasn't confident about. That he would dare to go on his own to challenge the demon king.

But right now was a different context. He had lost all that strength and was starting from the beginning again. However, this was not the beginning he started within his own world.

He was a peasant but the moment his talent was recognized at the age of eight, his environment was immediately changed. Manipulative nobles showed favor to his family for his sake and he was moved to the academy. A high-class learning environment for the top-tier nobles with money, power, and fame.

If you are the son of a baron and attended that academy, you would wish you are better off cleaning the toilet somewhere else because in honest truth, you'll find yourself hiding in dirty toilets, so much that you would have grown a habit of toilet cleaning to at least keep a hygienic embroidery around you.

A school where people diss themselves purely because of their status and have little to no respect for their teachers.

Ayo in his past life attended under the guise of a duke's son so he didn't receive much negative energy. Plus his talent for swordsmanship and ability to copy anybody's skill after seeing it once set him apart from other students. Everybody wanted to be friends with him even though he was utterly useless and lazy.

In essence, he didn't give a monster until he had graduated from the academy. And by that time he was very strong.

So this fresh start was not enjoyable for him at all. Especially since his laziness system was being cunning with him.

He frowned. This was unpleasant, he can't stay put forever, how long before the wolf manages to pull out the dagger because right now, before his eyes, it was struggling to do just that. Trying to gnash the handle with its teeth.

But it was hard for its teeth to reach its neck and the dagger was deep in, the hilts were bathed in its bluish blood.

It has regenerative ability. Ayo's mind brought to his notes again, no wonder the monster was spending so much time, trying to remove the knife. It was like a do-or-die situation, even though its foe was right in front of it.

There was no better time to keep striking than now. Forget your fears Ayo, fight!

He sprinted forward as his mind woke.

His underling stayed behind and watched from afar. It didn't receive any command from Ayo to join the fight and there was no automated hostility to the wolves. If fact, all monsters in the tower from ten to one, considered themselves allies.

So this Orc was going to save itself from the dilemma of choice and just allow his master to take care of himself. Cocky watched blankly, he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it, he seemed dull in fact.

But the bow tie sitting on his green neck and complementing his green face and ragged skirts. Yes, they did add a touch of humor to his serious face.

Ayo ran around cornering here and there as the wolf chased with desperation to ram itself into him and crush him to death. If he kept running, he was going to lose so as he neared a rock, he stepped on it and went into the air, flipping over the wolf to its back.

He grabbed its tail and pulled it swinging the wolf over his head and smashing it to the ground. Well, that was what he had hoped to do but at that moment he forgot that he didn't have the strength he used to have.

Old habits don't die.

Ayo sighed as he met the wolf's gnashing teeth.

'I give up'

The wolf rammed into him crushing him on the floor and began to ravage him—almost.

He held tightly onto the wolf's protruding canine teeth, although his hand danced along with the rhythm of the wolf's head as it arrogantly shook like a canine monster shredding its dinner.

But the wolf was not able to get its teeth away from Ayo's grip no matter how hard it tried. But it didn't stop trying.

Now, Ayo just needed a way to finish this thing and why it had been held down.

'Damnitt that bastard'

It would have been way easier if Cocky, came from above and sliced the wolf into two with his axe but the bastard was nowhere around. Ayo couldn't even stress his gaze to look around for him, not in the tightly-locked condition he was with the wolf.

He gritted his teeth and truly hope he could cause at the monster. But compared to how betrayed anyone would feel he wasn't that concerned. Because he wasn't the type to depend on people's help in the first place.

In fact, the thought crossed his mind not like he thought of doing it that way. Because it is no gain for him if Cocky kills the wolf. He is not doing this so he could become an effective part of some team someday.

Ayo cherished working solo in his former world. And in this world, nothing had changed about that fact.

He shot his legs up immediately and wrapped them around the wolf's pelvis, tightening and bringing the wolf closer to himself—the wolf immediately resisted the force of Ayo's pulling using its hind limb power to keep itself from succumbing.

That was what Ayo needed it to do.

The one moment of focusing on its hind limb and whatever Ayo was trying to do with its pelvis allowed the wolf to pause its violent head for a second. That one second was all Ayo needed

With all the force he could gather, summoning the survival strength he never thought he had, he pulled his hands apart in an attempt to split the wolf's mouth.

However, the wolf caught up on his attempt before it was too late. It lifted its claws and drove it into Ayo's exposed chest
