Chapter 36 - Stay Low

George had found Krishna lounging in a chair beneath a lemon tree with abundant fruit. The sea breeze was gently rocking the branches, creating a calm melody.

Krishna scratched her left cheek when a few strands of her hair, played by the cool air, tickled her skin. Despite that, she remained asleep.

George was so bemused seeing this tranquil scene that he didn't notice a light chuckle had escaped his throat. There is also a tiny smile planted on his lips.

'Lowering your guard, huh?' he mused with a smile.

Standing at the foot of the chaise, he could not content himself to watch her from there simply. So he made a careful stride closer, not to make even a slight sound, and sat on the stool nearby.

George stretched his arm and brushed off Krishna's hair to the side. Now it reveals the side profile of her face.

Krishna's head was tilting to the right. Concerns sprouted in his chest, thinking how long she was in that position. He was worried she was already numbing. Yet, he doesn't want to disturb her nap.

After an hour, Krishna woke up. At first, she could not think of where she was. Soon, her consciousness gradually returned. Then she remembered George had brought her to his resort, and she was slowly dragging into slumber, watching the blue ocean and bright sky.

"Oh, my gosh!" Upon recalling everything, she sat up abruptly, but a hand covered her head before the lemon fruit above her could slap her forehead.

"Careful…"

A sexy voice sounded on her right side, and it shocked her to recognize the owner.

"You…" she swallowed hard when the guy leaned over; his face was a few inches away from hers. She would presume he was flirting with her if she were unaware of his terrible temper. 'But that was impossible and crazy!'

"What are you doing?" she asked.

Then George replied with a smirk. "I'm checking out if morning stars are in your eyes."

She was teasing her. Krishna glared and snapped, "Are you crazy?"

Instead of the guy getting annoyed, he only chuckled sexily, which caused her chest to become wild. She shrieked inwardly, 'What's wrong with him?'

"You've finally woken up. I'll go call the kitchen to bring the dishes over."

"Oh..." Krishna kept squinting her eyes. She was already fully awake, but it confused her whether to believe what she was seeing.

Or was everything still inside her dream?

George was smiling at her, and she doubted that was real. If he were, then the possibility would only happen in a dream.

However, the guy had touched her just now. His palm was warm, and his voice was magnetic, which remained to echo in her ears.

'I am convinced that something had happened last night. This guy seemed possessed now. Why does he become too nice so suddenly? It was the first time I saw him smile that reached his eyes. Most of the time, he would roar at me, or his smile contained mocks. It was too suspicious now. I don't know what he plans, so I must be careful. I need to raise my guard around this guy with a split personality.'

Krishna has been convincing herself while her eyes are fixed on the man's broad shoulder, facing her.

On the other hand, George was on his phone, speaking to the Head Chef of the resort. There, she got the freedom to study his physiques.

The man wore a casual blue shirt that perfectly reflected his gorgeous blue eyes. The long sleeves rolled up to his elbows revealed the muscles in his arms.

George's height is like a tower. Undoubtedly, he was every woman's dream, but she would never dare because of his terrible temper. Their first impressions were so bad that he could not impress her.

"Very well. Make it fast." It was George's last words before he hung up the call.

Krishna saw it as an opportunity. Before the man could turn around to face her, she had already bid her goodbye.

"I have to go now." She got up from the chaise lounge and hurried to the door. However, a giant palm grasped her elbow before she could take another step.

"Where do you think you are going?" Raising one brow, George questions her. "Who said you can leave now?"

"There is nothing I can do here. I better roam around to familiarize myself with the city. Also, Donny invited me for lunch. He must be waiting now..." Krishna did her best to make excuses. But to no avail. She failed to convince him.

George did not reply but simply scrutinized her. He seemed to be searching for something on her face.

"What?" Krishna felt embarrassed and impatient when George remained silent. "If nothing else, then I'm going."

"Have lunch with me first. You can turn down Donny's invitation. Tell him to move it tomorrow after our fittings. It's my treat."

"What?" Krishna was in disbelief.

'Did I hear it correctly? Was the guy inviting us to have a meal instead? Wait? Is he talking about me trying on dresses? For what occasion?'

"What do you mean by that?" Krishna queried, curious about what was going on now.

George let go of Krishna's hand when he felt she was no longer struggling to escape his hold. He then answered her question.

The hotel has an anniversary celebration on Friday. If I am correct, you have to participate in the said occasion. After all, you are one of the lottery winners."

"Oh." She honestly forgot her itinerary because Camilla had filled her head in the past few days. "I see."

"I've made an appointment with Anna tomorrow morning," said George.

"Okay." Krishna merely nodded. She fell into silence as something troubled her. 'Is this crazy guy hinting that I must be his date since Florian would attend the party with Stella? How about I refuse him?'

She had this thought when George contemplated the same as hers. Just that—if she planned to refuse him, it would leave her no choice since he made plans already.

In the meantime, since Krishna could not escape, she shared lunch with George on the balcony. Most of the dishes served to them were seafood. But Krishna could only enjoy the lobster.

"Why aren't you eating?" George noticed that aside from vegetable salad, she settled into the lobster and did not pick another dish.

Krishna tried to ignore his presence but was forced to reply. "I'm fine with it. I have to watch my diet."

She used this as an excuse, but George gave her a confusing look. So she mused, 'Isn't it just yesterday he wanted me to starve? Why is he feeding me like it was my last meal?'

She didn't want to explain anything but knew this guy would not let her go.

"I need to stay fit for the dress." It pleases men when their date is enchanting, especially when she makes everyone jealous. She had this idea.

"Okay." George merely replied, and for unknown reasons, she was upset. Although it was her alibi, his casual reaction still disappointed her. What does she expect, then?

Quietly, Krishna continued eating until she was full enough. She rose from her dining chair and said, "Thank you for the meal. But I have to go now. There are a few things I must take care of."

She was praying in silence that the guy would let her go. She doesn't want to stay for another minute around him.

"Okay."

When George nodded, she didn't hide the joy on her face. Seeing that she was happy to leave, George winced in annoyance.

"Boss? Why did you allow her to leave?"

"Let her be. She is meeting with her friend tonight. Tell the men to stay low."

"Copy, boss." Dillion, who suddenly appeared when Krishna left the resort, vanished without a trace to carry out an order.
