Chapter 20 - Resentment

KRISHNA'S POV

My pupils almost left my eye sockets when Mr. Crazy George told Stella I was his new assistant. Who's a fool who wants to work with him? There's no way!

At this moment, I was about to explode. I know he is not only a narcissistic guy but also overbearing! 'I didn't live my life for his insults and suffering from his prejudice!'

I don't know if I would go out alive if I didn't leave today. Yes, I was determined to do it. I wondered if I could request to change rooms. It may be possible. Then, I should discuss it with Jim so he could report it to his bosses.

Staying in this city, I actually don't need a presidential suite. All I yearn for is to enjoy this vacation; however, a vain man has already ruined it!

I was supposed to be alone in this suite if Camilla would not join me. But a crazy guy claimed the suite as his. If my memory is correct, I can file a complaint with the management.

However, it was unfortunate because Graham is one of the major investors in this hotel. So, I'm worried about whether my request will be granted. On the one hand, the documents I signed firmly stated that I could demand it since they organized the prizes.

And if they would not do something about it because they will side with Mr. Crazy George, who is wealthy compared to me as only a peasant, I am willing to give back the $20,000.00 Cash Gift as long as they just let me go home. I can also book my plane ticket if they do not arrange my departure.

But that is after I talked to Camilla. I would not leave her alone in this city, especially in the hands of a crazy guy. Also, the legal wife was here. Whatever Camilla's reason, she should stop and wake up now.

Therefore, I am waiting for a chance to speak with Florian. Today, I will look for an opportunity to be alone with him. Hence, I have to bear Crazy George's hostile treatment toward me.

I felt uncomfortable being under Crazy George's intense gaze. Thus, I eat my dessert quietly. Sometimes, I pray for the floor to open and swallow me. Or for the sky to take this crazy guy from the face of the Earth. This world will be at peace.

Crazy George took every chance he could to shoot a dagger look at me when Stella was not paying attention as she put food on Florian's plate. However, the latter didn't appreciate what she was doing.

"That's enough. You don't need to put the food I don't like on my plate." Florian told Stella using a haughty tone.

Stella said, "I'm sorry. I thought you would like it since they were your favorites."

I looked up and caught the embarrassment flash in her eyes.

"You don't need to do that. I could take care of myself," said Florian with an icy tone.

Stella's already flustered face became crimson red with what the former had said.

She lowered her head, and I thought she would cry, but I was wrong. She lifted her head and masked her face with a bright smile.

I admired how she regained her composure quickly. However, I felt sorry to witness this—a sharp pang struck my heart as I pitied Stella.

I could see how she was madly in love with Florian. Sadly, he only treated her as air. I don't need to guess that Stella longs for the former's affection.

As a woman, I always dreamed of marrying the man I loved. But I want a man who will love me back.

In Stella's case, it is an unrequited love. May that she and Florian were a perfect match; however, their marriage is imperfect when one is having an affair.

Stella seemed a wonderful person. She doesn't deserve to be treated this way.

But thinking about my best friend, I wonder what drove her to covet a married man. I desire to hear Camilla's side, as I want her to enlighten me.

After breakfast and having tea, Stella suddenly became curious about my life. She asked me a series of questions, and I was nervous about answering, so I tried to conceal the emotion almost exhibited on my face.

"Krishna?"

"Huh?" I was so immersed in my world that I didn't notice Stella speaking with me. Thus, I flashed a smile and apologized. "I'm sorry. Did you say something?"

"Hmm... I'm thinking of going shopping. If you don't have other plans, you could accompany me to have a tour around. It was my first time in this city."

Stella looked embarrassed when she said that. Florian often came here for work and to do business, but she had never been here before because her husband did not allow her to accompany him on his flights.

Despite the rejection she felt deep down in her heart, Stella concealed her sadness but remained a bright personality. She beamed and went on.

"So? What do you think?"

"Oh..." Again, I felt sympathy for Stella. It seemed Florian completely abandoned her throughout their marriage. Thus, I have no strength to refuse Stella's invitation. I feel bad for her, and I think she wanted to comfort herself through shopping to mend her broken heart from the rejection she received from her husband all over again. So, who am I to turn down her invitation? "Okay. I don't have any plans."

However, after I accepted Stella's invitation, Crazy George shot a dagger at me. I could see he opposed the idea of Florian's wife and mistress shopping together—which I am not, so I laughed silently.

He can dig a pit, even with how many holes. He can burn himself.

I felt guilty on behalf of my best friend for breaking someone's marriage. But I don't care about his wrong assumption.

On the other hand, instead of Florian working on his marriage with Stella, he spends his time with someone else. Therefore, I feel obliged to comfort his wife.

"I'll go with you." Crazy George announced not long after. And this did not surprise me. I've already guessed that he would tail us to watch me himself. But then he queried Florian.

"How about you, cousin? Won't you accompany your wife shopping?"

Crazy George maliciously stared at me while he invited Florian to join us. I don't know what was running through his crazy head. Anxious, I waited for Florian to answer, and I felt he would decline.

And my guess was correct when he answered, "I have a lunch meeting with our Asian business partner. So I don't have as much free time as you."

Crazy George and Florian meet gaze, and the room drops more degrees. Watching these two outstanding men, I could feel the hidden resentment between the cousins.
