Chapter 17 - New Faction

The incident in Sichuan province caught the attention of Duke Kuan, especially when he learned that Grand General Muku was arguing with General Li Bi to the point of almost having a sword fight.

An impromptu meeting was held in the throne room.  All princes, generals, officials, and ministers attended the meeting.

Li Bi bowed, saluting the Duke. "I believe the troops were sent by Han. I fought with Han General–"

Grand General snorted.  "What's the proof that it's the Han army? Nothing, right? Just your own admission. I'm sure you want to drag Kun over to Ning's side! Right?"

"How dare you accuse me!" Li Bi snapped, pointing at the grand general in anger. "If it weren't for you blocking me, I would have captured the enemy general!"

"I'm just carrying out my duty to bring the cavalrymen back to the city.  I didn't know that they weren't Li Bi's troops."

"Don't know, you say? You are grand general, you should know that I don't have the authority to get the cavalry out of the city!"

"Oh, you do realize that you're just a minor general. You should have realized your position and stopped answering me, dammit!"

"All right, Grand Generals. I know.  I don't have any family that can bring me to your position." Li Bi bowed in greeting.

Li Bi slapped Muku in the face with his piercing words.  He made Muku's face turn red and his hand trembled as he gripped the hilt of the sword.

"Take back your words. Or you will feel my sword," Muku begged.

"As the Minor General of the Kun Dukedom, I must not lie Grand General. Don't you know that? Chivalry, know no liar's words. What I said is true as it is."

Muku's eyes widen.  He drew a sword, attacking Li Bi.  His first strike pierced Li Bi's scabbard, causing the weapon to fall.l

Li Bi turned away. He has no weapon now.

Muku swung a sword at Li Bi.  Muku is famous for his martial arts skills as well as strength above ordinary humans.  Even with a sword, Li Bi was not match again him.

Everyone in the throne room retreated, giving those to much room to fight.  The Kun tradition says that all speech must be kept.  On that basis Duke Kuan chose to ignore Muku and Li Bi duel.

"Duke, General Li Bi is unarmed.  Please stop this madness immediately!" Lan begged.

Bian replied, "Are you blind? Li Bi had a sword. He dropped it. That's his business."

Li Bi tried to took his sword, but Muku kicked the sword out of the throne room.

There was only one way to stop Muku's attacks, and that was by surrendering.  However, Li Bi was a real Kun warrior. Giving up was the greatest humiliation for him.

Lan passed the sword to Li Bi, but Muku swatted the sword away so it flew, embedded into the wall.

Li Bi was took a heavy injured.  Fresh blood flowed like a river over his arm. He had no other choice. "I give up."

However, Muku still attacks him.  It seemed that he wanted to kill Li Bi.

Lan drew Prime Minister Cao's sword, charging forward to parry Muku's attack. The attack just now was so powerful that it made Lan's hand tremble.

"Uncle Muku, General Li Bi has given up–"

Mu Ku swung his sword toward Lan, then attacked Li Bi.  Lan repeatedly parried his attacks, making Muku furious.

Muku focused on attacking Lan.  Lan himself uses the Liao Tribe style.  He was so agile, his feet moved like a dancing.  However, he was no match for Muku's straightforward attacks. Muku pushed Lan to the corner of the room.  This time Bian advances against Muku.

"You dueled Li Bi, not Lan.  Li Bi has given up, so stop it, Uncle!" Just like Muku, Bian mastered a signature brute technique of Kun Family and managed to beat back the Grand General.

Annoyed, Muku tucks the sword into the scabbard.  "I'm sorry Duke, Prince, I didn't hear any words of surrender coming from his mouth."  He greeted the Duke and Prince, then returned to his position.

Bian was reluctant to help Lan stand up. He returned to his position next to Muku.

Lan helped Li Bi up. He bowed to the duke.  "Please excuse me to come out. Li Bi needs treatment."

The duke gave a small nod, giving them permission.

Lan alone took Li Bi out from throne room.  Blood dripped from the wound on the general's arm.

"Thank you Prince, already want to help me."

"It's okay. I'm sorry, because—"

"What for? Duke Kuan was completely silent there. He respects ancient traditions, and I would also be angry if Duke Kuan interrupted us just now."

"Come, General Li Bi." Lan took Li Bi into the physician's room and accompanied him while he was being treated.

General Li Bi's arm bled profusely and was immediately bandaged by the healer.  After that, the blood stopped coming out.

"Prince. Out of the three princes, you are the one who thinks about Kun's fate. I salute you."

"I'm only doing my duty as a Kun, General. All I want is Kun's progress."

Suddenly many young lieutenants and generals came, they knelt before Li Bi who was sitting on the chair.

A young lieutenant brought Li Bi's sword.  "General, your sword is lagging behind!"

"Aia, what are you guys doing here in droves for?"  Li Bi took his sword.

"We support you, Master Li Bi."

Li Bi came from a family of farmers.  He had crawled his way up to become a general after doing much service to Kun.  Because of that, the young lieutenants and young generals respected him.

"What do you mean?" Li Bi asked.

"You are not wrong, you are right!"

They all greeted simultaneously.  "We support you General Li Bi! You are doing the right thing."

Li Bi was crying when she saw all her friends supporting her.  He was moved.

Li Bi made up his mind to fall to his knees before Lan.  "Prince, I thank you because the Prince wants to support me earlier. I surrender myself to you! Whatever your decision, I will support you."

"General Li Bi, don't be like this."  Lan tried to pull general Li Bi up, but the general refused.

"You are Kun's light.  Only you out in the field watching over us, as we stand hot on the hill.  Let me swear allegiance to you!"

"Aiya, General Li Bi, what if someone sees and becomes suspicious? They could assume that I formed a new faction."

The young lieutenants and generals said in unison, "We serve Prince Lan!"
