Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Blind Date

After talking with Xiao Xian she exited the company and hailed a cab to go to the addressed restaurant. It didn't take much time for her to arrive at the restaurant where she had promised to meet Jing Xing, her best friend who had recently fought with her boyfriend.

As soon as she entered the restaurant she was greeted by a waitress, and then went to the table, she had reserved for their lunch. Where Jing Xing was already sitting.

She was wearing a dark blue suit, her dark brown hair was shoulder-length. She was wearing high heels. Small silver studs on her earlobe and a watch on her right-hand wrist. She came here as soon as her meeting with clients ended. Jing Xing was a lawyer in a Shanghai top firm. She was the most hardworking and dedicated lawyer ever and one of the most successful ones in the city of Shanghai. She was a very ambitious person, who wants to accomplish many things in her life.

Jing Xing was tired of waiting for her, looking annoyed. She already ordered the food and the drinks so that they could start eating right away.

"I was so hungry!" Li Xia said as soon as she sat on the chair opposite Jing Xing, placing her purse on the table.

"Food looks delicious!" Her stomach growled loudly and she quickly grabbed a knife and fork to start eating. But she noticed Jing Xing hadn't even touched her food.

"Did you fight with Xiao Xian again?" Li Xia asked as she ate a piece of beef steak and some salad.

"Don't talk about that man," She replied annoyed.

Li Xia rolled her eyes at her remark.

"You're so dramatic. "Tell me why did you fight this time?"

Jing Xing sighed before answering, "Just leave this thing. I don't want to think about him anymore."

Li Xia looked at her best friend and saw her looking at her expectantly.

"Tell me about yourself now," Jing Xing asked, trying to change the subject to something less complicated.

"My Life is more complicated than yours." Li Xia jokes. Jing Xing chuckled and shook her head.

"Why? Why? What happened?" Jing Xing asked her as she took a sip from the wine.

"I met Luo Yuan yesterday at the event," Li Xia sighed while taking a sip from her wine. Jing Xing choked on her wine as she heard those words.

"Luo Yuan, the one who rejected you!" Jing Xing asked, sounding surprised and placing the glass on the table.

"Do you have to say that loudly?" Li Xia said as she looked around herself. To which Jing Xing nodded.

"It was so embarrassing," Li Xia continued after making sure no one was listening or looking at her.

"Why? Why? Does he remember you ?" Jing Xing asked as she ate a small piece of steak.

"Well... no, or else it would have been more embarrassing," She answered and drank from her glass.

Jing Xing nodded understandingly and continued eating her beef steak and salad. They talked about each other like usual with food and wine. After finishing their dinner, Li Xia told Jing Xing that she needed to use the restroom before heading home. So Jing Xing left first as she had to pick up some files from her office.

...

The sky had already darkened and stars were showing up in the sky. The street lights were on. People got off from their work and we're going home. Most people were in their cars or strolling through the streets.

Luo Yuan arrived at the restaurant where his mother addressed him to come. As soon as he stepped inside the restaurant, was greeted by the waiter.

"Good Evening Mr. Luo, your table is that one," he pointed at a corner of the room, where a woman in her twenties was sitting. She was wearing a tight black dress and had her hair tied into a ponytail. "And Miss Luo also told me to give you this note," the waiter said while handing him a note.

It read: "Son, I want good news today. Fighting!"

Luo Yuan massaged his temples with his left hand and took a deep breath. He knew it was not going to be a simple dinner when his mother asked him to come. His mother had been asking him to date a girl for years now. And she has been trying to matchmake him with girls.

But Luo Yuan just couldn't do it. He never felt attracted to any girl. For him all girls are fake. And they all seem to have some type of ulterior motives.

Luo Yuan had no choice but to attend this dinner with that woman or else his mother would continue pestering him. With the note still in his hand, Luo Yuan walked towards the table and sat opposite the woman.

"Hi, I am Yu Jie," She smiled and extended her hand.

"Luo Yuan," he simply replied, ignoring her hand. Yu Jie retracted her hand and looked at him with disapproval written clearly on her face.

Luo Yuan started giving orders to the waitress and added, "Also one glass of wine and one juice too," he finished the sentence and gave back the menu to her. The waitress went back after taking the menu.

"So you are the CEO of C.L Group," Yu Jie started.

Luo Yuan just looked away from her and gave her a nod. There was a momentary silence between them. Then Yu Jie spoke again "What are your hobbies in your free time?" she asked.

"I am always busy with my work, I have no free time," He said bluntly, avoiding her gaze.

"Oh, are you free tomorrow night ?" Yu Jie asked again.

This time Luo Yuan faced her and responded. "I don't think we should meet again," He said without giving them any chance for Yu Jie to answer.

"The bill is on me, enjoy your food," He said as he stood up from the table.

Yu Jie stared at Luo Yuan with wide eyes as if she couldn't believe what she just heard, "I'm not done yet," she protested as she grabbed his arm to stop him.

"What the hell do you think of yourself?" she asked angrily.

"Miss Yu, don't make a scene here, the whole restaurant can hear you," he tried to free himself but she wasn't letting him go.

"Didn't he tell you to leave his arm alone," a hand from back tucked in Luo Yuan's right arm to separate him from Yu Jie.
