Chapter 7 - SEVEN: Dinner

Twilight's POV

My heart was thumping in my chest as I waited for her to reply. She chuckled as I started to grow more nervous.

"Yes... I would love to go on a date with you, bunny," she said. My eyes widened. My heartbeats raced again as a smile broke out on my face. How I love it when she calls me 'bunny'. I was going to ask her if she mean it.

"But... before that. Can we meet tomorrow morning?" She asked before I could ask her anything. I raised my eyebrows.

"Yeah... sure... why though?" I asked.

"Well, I will be needing your help in something important," she said. My eyebrows furrowed.

"If it's important, why are you taking my help? Shouldn't you take help from someone who is close to you and someone you trust?" I asked.

"You are too curious sometimes, bunny," she said. I can imagine her smiling. "I asked you because you were the first one to believe whatever I said without cross-questioning me. I trust you."

"But..."

"Oh! Look it's getting late. Let's keep your interrogation for tomorrow hm?" She joked. "We have a lot of time to play questions tomorrow. So, be there at the café where we went together. 10 in the morning."

I love how carefree she is. I know there is a lot she has been hiding. A huge pain. But it takes a lot of strength to put on a carefree façade. I respect her for it.

"Okay, anything for you, my highness," I said. She chuckled.

"See you tomorrow, Twilight," she said. I grinned.

"Yeah, See you soon, Dove," I said and later she hung up the call. I let out a sigh as I shook my head smiling.

This was my first time going out with a girl. I know most people think I have or had girlfriends because of my appearance. But I have never dated anyone before. Since I am the son of a mistress of the Harris family, all the high-class people my father have affiliated with, ignore my existence as Vinter is the real successor of the family. I am not really interested in being the successor. I just want to get out of this family as soon as possible.

I saw Luis staring at me with a grinning face from the glass window of our tattoo studio. I rolled my eyes as I walked inside the studio.

"So?! You asked her out?!" Luis asked getting excited like a puppy getting its treat.

"Yes, Luis I did," I said.

"And? Did she say 'yes'?" He asked again. I sighed.

"Yes, she did," I replied.

"See! I told you! She is into you!" Luis exclaimed. Luis Hall, this guy is my best friend. He was the one who suggested me— more like forced me to ask Dove out. I don't regret listening to Luis in this one. At first, I thought she would reject me but looks like I was wrong. It felt nice when she said she trusts me. I could tell she was the type who won't trust people easily. But she said she trusts me and I couldn't be happier.

I do feel guilty for asking the girl who is my brother's soulmate, out on a date. But what I do know is Vinter will never be able to treat Dove right. And I am ready to play the role of the best man that I can be in her life.

I do believe in love at first sight. I know love is a strong word to be used here. Yet, I still feel like in near future Dove is going to be a very important part of my life.

Talking about my life. Luis raised me. He happens to be a better father figure in my life than my real father. Luis is 8 years older than me, and he found me all beaten up by delinquents in the shabby area of the city.

This was when I rebelled once against my father when I was 9 years old and got kicked out of the house. I accidentally wandered around in the area of delinquents and that's when they beat me up. When Luis found me, I was passed out on the street. He brought me to his home and tended my wounds.

Later, he even dropped me back at Harris estate. Not that I was willing to go back home, but I thought my mother would be worried so I had to return. But, ever since that day I frequently visited Luis's place after school. He gave me the fatherly love which my father was never able to give. He taught me kickboxing and tattoo art. Even though he was only 17 at that time, but he still took care of me and raised me.

"Shane! Can you give me a good haircut?" I asked Shane. He is Luis's husband. Shane was one of our regular customers back then when our tattoo studio was pretty newly opened. I didn't realize there was a thing going on between Luis and Shane until they told me. Luis often tells me that I am a dimwit, which might be true.

"Why? Your hair looks good the way they are, Light," Shane said in a monotone. Shane isn't exactly the one who expresses emotions well, while Luis is very expressive.

"I feel like getting a haircut..."

"Oh! You want to impress your soon-to-be girlfriend, don't you?!" Luis teased.

"Think whatever, you hulk," I replied poking my tongue out. Luis is very tall and muscular. It's maybe because of all those years of kickboxing practice and all the sports he used to play.

Shane's green eyes suddenly sparkled and he stared at me. "I just realized something. Come here, let me style your hair better."

I tilted my head at him, but nodded and went to him anyway. He made me sit on the chair in front of the mirror. Shane is an expert hairstylist and he is the one who always styles my hair. Even now he was doing something to my hair which I can see but still am not able to explain.

After a few minutes of styling my hair and cutting wherever it was needed, Shane was done with it. And if I am honest, this is one of the best looks I have ever got. My side part undercut was gone as my long hair was cut short and they were now covering my forehead. The contrast between my dyed iceberg hair and my original hair color added to it. I looked cooler and my gangster-like aura dissipated a bit because of my hair on the forehead which gave me rather an innocent look.

"Shane! You are amazing!" I said grinning as I got up from my seat in excitement.

"Now, Dove will not be able to resist you, so you better get her before your brother does. I'm rooting for you, Light," Shane said with a proud look on his face. Shane has a blunt way of speaking; he doesn't have anything against Vinter. It's just Shane is one of those people who believe that a soulmate bond is very holy and Vinter tried to taint it by dating someone who is not his soulmate.

Also, the nickname 'Light', Luis was obsessed with the anime 'Death Note' and its lead character 'Light Yagami', so that is how he came up with the nickname 'Light' for me. While Shane calls me 'Light' cause according to him 'Twilight' is too long to pronounce.

"You are the best, Love!" Luis said kissing his husband, while Shane scrunched his nose pushing Luis away.

"Luis, how many times have I told you? No kissing in front of the kid," Shane said referring to me.

"I'm an adult," I replied.

"To us, you will always be a kid," Shane said ruffling my hair. I groaned pushing his hand away.

"Whatever, I'm leaving," I said.

"Aren't you forgetting something, young man?" Luis asked glaring at me with his dark eyes. I raised my eyebrows.

"What?" I asked.

"You got to tell me when is your date?" He asked.

"That is not decided yet, though she asked me to meet her at the café tomorrow morning," I replied.

"Is it a date tomorrow?" He asked. I shrugged.

"No, I don't think so. She said she had something important to do and she needs my help," I said. Luis nodded.

"Oh! Well enjoy your work date tomorrow then," he said. I chuckled nodding.

"Thanks. I'll be going now. Bye Shane, Luis," I said as they both waved at me and I left the studio. I wore my jacket as I pulled my car keys out.

When I reached home— Harris estate. I saw Vinter's car was parked in its place. I wonder if I should confront him or not about Dove. I have always shared everything with Vinter, but for the first time, I'm hesitant to tell him about something.

When I entered the place which I'm supposed to call my 'home' but doesn't exactly feel like a home, my mother's butler came rushing to me.

"Young master! Miss Adams has been looking all over for you!" He said. I rolled my eyes. My mother's last name is Adams, but she made me get my father's last name 'Harris'. I don't appreciate it.

"Well, mom is aware of the fact that I was at my tattoo studio, why was she looking all over for me?" I asked in monotone.

"Young master Vinter has brought his girlfriend over to meet your father and his mother," he explained.

"And what do I have to do with it?" I asked.

"Master has gathered the entire family for the dinner," he said. I sighed. The family dinner. Awkward family dinner.

"I will be there in a while," I said as I went to my room to change into my 'family dinner' worthy clothes, as my father likes to say. A shirt, blazer and pants.

After changing and giving myself a minute or two to relax, I went outside to face the awkward dinner I was going to have.

"I did not expect you to be this late, Twilight," my father said sternly when he saw me entering the dining area. I saw my mother sitting alone on one side, while my father took the centre seat and Vinter, his girlfriend- Nina and his mother on the opposite side to my mother.

"I was caught up with work. Sorry," I apologized as I took a seat beside my mother giving her a small smile.

"And what have you done to your hair. Such a disgrace," my father lets out a small 'tsk'. Now, if you ask me, I'm used to this mockery. It happens every day.

"Twilight sweetie, this is Nina, your brother's girlfriend," my mother said. I looked at Nina and then at Vinter who smiled at me. I frowned.

"What about your soulmate, Vinter?" I asked.

"Child! Learn to greet guests first," my father said. I rolled my eyes.

"I will once my dear older brother reply to my question. What about your soulmate, Vinter?" I asked again.

"My soulmate does not exist," he said facing away from me.

"Oh yes! She does! She exists," I replied.

"No, she does not. I know it better than you," he replied. Still not looking at me.

"That's where you are wrong, Vin. Because I met your soulmate just a few hours ago," I dropped the bomb and the entire table went silent. Frozen. And Vinter finally looked at me with wide eyes.

I wasn't planning to tell him this in front of everyone, but he said Dove does not exist. Whatever was going on with Vinter, he was not playing fair with that one person who cares for him the most. Dove does not deserve this.
