Chereads / Amethyst Desire / Chapter 10 - TEN: The sins

Chapter 10 - TEN: The sins

"That's a terrible idea, Doe," Micah said shaking her head in disapproval. I gave her a side-eyed glare which she shrugged away. It would be hard to convince Micah of this.

Micah Hall, daughter of Bethany and Leo Hall. While Bethany was initially a drifter, who wandered around the world until she met Leo. Now, what's interesting in this story is that Bethany is imprisoned for the murder of her husband Leo. Micah said the reason her mother killed her father was the cause of envy. She was obsessed with Leo and she thought he was cheating on her with another woman.

Crazy woman Bethany is. A very crazy woman. But she is still the only link of mine to the truth behind how to break the soulmate bond. Since she was a drifter, I'm sure she must have travelled multiple places and gained knowledge about many things. A few months ago I came across this article where it was said that drifters know how to break the soulmate bond. Even though there are no solid proofs about it, I'm still trying to take my all chances.

"Micah, please. You know this bond I have with Vinter is insufferable. You know this better than anyone how people see us, former delinquents, as," I said.

"I know, but still taking my mother's help! You know how she is! She would never help you and even if she does, she'll demand something which might be tough for you to give— what if she demands an escape from the prison?" Micah questioned. I smirked. If my calculations aren't wrong that's exactly what Bethany would demand and I have a solution to that too.

"I have a plan for that... trust me I know what I'm doing. All I want is a visit to the prison. Will you help me, Micah?" I asked. Twilight was oddly silent as if he was thinking deeply about something while eating his cheesecake. This man sure loves food more than anything.

"Fine, give me a minute," she said as she got up and dialed a number. She stepped out of the café to talk on the phone call. I turned towards Twilight who just finished his second cheesecake.

"You sure love cheesecakes, don't you?" I asked chuckling. He smiled and nodded.

"I do!" He said. I rested my head on my palm as my elbow took the support of the table. I stared intently at the man with gunmetal eyes in front of me.

"So... will you help me with this, Twilight?" I asked. He shook his head.

"I'm sorry. But, Vinter loves you. I know he's dating someone else right now and I have no excuse for that," he said. "But I still know that somewhere in his heart he loves you badly. You took this decision without talking it out with him. If you discuss it with him and if he agrees to it then I'll be here for you to help."

I was expecting this. I wanted to see all along how strong these two brothers' bond is. And seeing how Twilight isn't agreeing to help me cause Vinter is unaware of it made me realize that their bond is stronger than I thought.

At least Vinter was able to bond with his brother well if not with me.

"But you agreed to date me. Won't it make it easier for you to date me if you help me break this bond?" I asked. I wonder if he'll fall for my word plays.

"Dating is a different thing and breaking this bond is different. Vinter already knows that we'll be dating and he has no say in this matter as he too is dating someone else. But, by breaking this bond or let alone 'trying' to break it. You are challenging the rules of nature. Don't you think Vinter has the right to know about it?" He asked. If I was a teensy bit naïve, this man would have changed my mind about breaking the soulmate bond. Unfortunately, I'm stubborn and too smart for my good.

"Just like how you believe that he might never agree to it. I believe the same thing and that's why I don't want to tell him about it," I said with a smile.

"I like you, Dove. But I'm sorry I cannot betray my brother," he said. I nodded.

"I understand, bunny," I said as he got up from his seat.

"I'll be going then," he said. "I understand if you don't want to go out with me anymore."

I laughed.

"I'm not that petty, bunny. I still won't miss the chance to go with you," I said. His eyes sparkled as he gave me his biggest grin.

"Great! I'll text you about the date when all the arrangements are done! I promise you won't regret it!" He exclaimed in excitement. "See you!"

He waved at me.

"See you!" I waved back as he walked away with a huge smile on his face.

I know I won't regret anything as you are the type of person, I thought you would be. I'm glad Vinter has someone like you in his life, Twilight. I'm glad I have someone like you in my life.

Micah came in just after Twilight left. With a confused expression plastered on her face.

"Your work is done. We can go meet her now," she said. "And why did that sexy man go away?"

"He won't be helping us in this," I said.

"Why? That's a terrible boyfriend you have got there Doe!" Micah whined.

"He's not my boyfriend yet, Micah," I said. "And he's exactly the type of guy I wanted him to be. Who knows I might end up having deeper feelings for him."

Micah was giving me a weird look which I dismissed chuckling.

"Your habit of talking in puzzles and riddles hasn't gone away at all," she said with a stoic expression as I laughed.

"Come on let's go meet your mother," I said as I pulled her up.

We entered the prison visiting room and we both waited for Bethany to come by. After a few minutes of waiting, the dark-haired woman finally showed up. Micah has her mother's dark hair and her father's amber eyes.

"Oh! My daughter finally thought of visiting me," Bethany made a sarcastic remark. Micah rolled her eyes.

"I'm not here for you. Dove wanted to talk to you about something," Micah said.

"I'll be waiting outside Doe, once you are done talking let's get out of this place. It's suffocating," Micah said as she got up and went out without giving her mother a second glance.

"What a child I have got. Disgraceful... Disgraceful~" Bethany sang. I smirked.

"I'm sure she feels the same about you, Bethany," I replied. She gave me an evil grin. I don't find many people scary, but I swear I'll be lying if I say this woman right here isn't scary.

"You are as sardonic as ever, Dove. So, what brought you here?" She asked. This isn't the first time I'm meeting Bethany. I have met her once before as well when I once visited this prison with Micah before.

"Heard drifters know how to break the soulmate bond. Mind giving me the intel about it?" I asked.

"Straight forward people are my favorite. But, my dear~ every information has a price," she said.

"Fine, what is your demand?" I asked. She gestures for me to lean in which I did.

"An escape from this shit-hole," she whispered making sure no guards can hear us.

I saw this coming right away when I decided to meet this woman. But what she doesn't know is I have a plan for everything.

"I can help you with that. But, what guarantee do you give that you will provide me with the information after I help you with this?" I asked. She chuckled.

"I don't think you are in any position to make a reverse deal here, Dove. Seeing how desperate you are to get that information. You'll just have to trust my words," she winked at me. Okay, she got me there, but I again have a plan to get information out of her once she gets out of prison.

I stared at her for a minute making it look like I'm contemplating whether to get her out of here or not. Even though everything is pre-decided from my side, I like it better where the opponent thinks the win is in their hand.

"Fine, I'll help you with it," I said as I leaned closer again. "Listen carefully, in a week I'll send someone to help you get out of here. But if you disagree with anything he asks you to do. The consequences won't be my problem."

"Wait... who will you be sending?" She asked.

"You'll know that soon enough," I said as I got up.

"Just remember, if I die you will never get the information you desire," she said.

"I'm aware about that. You won't die, I can guarantee you that much. Just follow what my men will tell you to do and you'll be fine," I said. I was about to leave.

"You are a scary woman, Dove. Your soulmate sure doesn't love you because of this," as soon as the words escaped her mouth my steps halted. I turned around to look at her.

"Maybe you are right... but, I'm still better than the woman who killed that one man she loved the most, just cause of a petty feeling of envy," I retorted back and walked out of that place. I guess it was easy for her to figure out that I have a soulmate and it's me who's trying to break the bond cause of my obvious desperacy.

I saw Micah standing in the corner thinking deeply about something.

"You good, Micah?" I asked. She looked at me and nodded.

"Yeah... sometimes I just miss my father," she said sounding a bit sad.

I sighed as I patted her back. Micah's father never cheated on Bethany, that woman is absolutely the most deluded person I know. She should have been in mental asylum and not prison.

"What did she say?" She asked.

"She wants to escape the prison," I replied. Micah started panicking.

"See! I knew it! This is why I told you not to meet her! Now, what are we going to do?" She asked.

"Micah! Take deep breaths. I have everything under control," I said. She did as I told her to do.

"How do you have everything under control?" She asked.

"I will call the sins," I said. Her eyes widened.

"But, didn't you say Lucifer would never agree to something like this earlier?" Micah whisper yelled. Talking about the sins was a crime itself according to many people.

"Lucifer won't agree to something petty like revenge. But there are chances he'll agree to this," I said. "Moreover even if Lucifer doesn't agree to help, Leviathan will."

"Is it cause of what happened back then?" She asked. "Are you going to use the 'pay your debt' card on Leviathan?"

"It's not just about debt, Micah," I said. "He promised me he'll always be there for me. So, this is his chance to keep his promise."

"This feels like a totally bad idea to me," Micah said. "If either Lucifer or Satan finds out that Leviathan went behind their back to help us, that poor guy will face the consequences."

"Then let's hope that Lucifer agrees to do this— because, the more the merrier," I said.

To involve such scary people in the plan is a bad idea, and if the leader a.k.a Lucifer goes against it in any way then I'm dead meat. In all seven of them, I'm scared of Lucifer the most, but I have no choice but to take the help of old friends here. Maybe... just maybe if they felt what I felt for them, the friendship we shared for 2 years. They will help me.
