Breaking Through
Since Matthew based his cultivation technique on astrology and outer space, various stellar phenomena were the basis of the chapters involved. And for the first chapter, Matthew named it after a black hole, as he wanted his Qi Cyclones to be similar to them.
So full of energy and so dense that they were able to suck and absorb the very Spiritual Qi around him. This way, even if he wasn't cultivating, his Qi Cyclones could still absorb the Spiritual Qi around him, helping his cultivation improve almost automatically.
Sadly, with his poor theoretical knowledge about the Qi Refining Realm in his previous life, he never reached that step.
Still, to commemorate his ambitious idea, Matthew ended up naming the first chapter after it.
Yet, to his surprise, Senior Wudi was able to fulfill his dreams, and with his modification, Matthew could truly make his Qi Cyclones into black holes.
Other than the actual cultivation technique, Senior Wudi left a set of notes alongside the first chapter.
In those notes, the ex-Universe Lord explained why Matthew's previous goal of having blackhole Qi Cyclones failed. Reading it, Matthew also felt a bit better about it all.
The reason his ambitious goals didn't come to fruition was that it wasn't something Matthew could control.
Blackholes were dense and extremely so, even to the point where if someone wanted to turn the Earth into a black hole, they would have to condense it all the way down into something the size of a square an inch wide.
Matthew knew this all and condensed his previously 40-wisp Qi Cyclone down into something as small as possible. But despite being the tiniest Qi Cyclones in the Chaotic Universe, they didn't have nearly enough mass to become a true black hole. Because of this, it failed, and all Matthew was left with was an abnormally small Qi Cyclone.
This didn't hurt him at all, but it did cause a lot of weird misunderstandings in his previous life.
But now, with Senior Wudi's modification, as long as Matthew absorbed all 100 wisps of Spiritual Qi and condensed his Qi Cyclone down to the same size as he had in his previous life, he would finally be able to achieve his long-awaited dream.
Sealing his senses off, Matthew began to absorb the Spiritual Qi in the air and construct his first Qi Cyclone.
Within Matthew's dantian, the single wisp of Chaos Qi served as the foundation of everything, but since it was the only piece of Spiritual Qi Matthew had left in his dantian, it looked like an empty pool with a single drop of water in the center.
However, as Matthew began to absorb more and more Spiritual Qi, his once-empty dantian began to refill itself like a bathtub under a running tap.
10 wisps, 25 wisps, 50 wisps, 80 wisps, 90 wisps, 97 wisps, 98 wisps, 99 wisps!
By following Senior Wudi's revised Blackhole Genesis Art to a T, Matthew was able to peacefully absorb wisp after wisp of Spiritual Qi with almost no issue.
It was just that once Matthew hit fifty, absorbing just one more became increasingly difficult. And once he reached 80, it was almost impossible.
There was a Spiritual Qi Vein under his butt, absorbing a lot of the Spiritual Qi in the atmosphere, sure, but even with the vacuum underneath, there were still countless wisps around him.
He could even absorb these wisps of Spiritual Qi with no problem, but once it came to placing them into the Qi Cyclone, problems ensued.
His Qi Cyclone was already more than full, and yet he kept stuffing its face.
Matthew's stomach even started to feel a bit inflated because of all the Spiritual Qi in his first Qi Cyclone, but no matter what, he didn't give in.
Taking a final deep breath, Matthew absorbed the last wisp he needed, completing the first part of the Qi Cyclone.
After filling his dantian to its absolute limit, Matthew stood up from his meditation mat. He then began to stretch his limbs and do some simple cardiovascular exercises to calm himself down and get some adrenaline rushing into his body.
While he was confident in his chances of creating a Qi Cyclone, that was before he gave the wisp of Chaos Qi and the now modified version of the Universal Creation Scripture.
If he were asked to create a normal Qi Cyclone with only 40 wisps, as he did in his previous life, Matthew would be able to do so in less than ten minutes.
However, now that he had more than double the number of wisps of Spiritual Qi to condense into a Qi Cyclone, Matthew was apprehensive and wished to be in his best possible condition before trying so.
After all, one tiny mistake and Matthew could do irreversible damage to his cultivation base and possibly ruin his cultivation journey before he even started it.
After a few minutes of mental preparation, Matthew was ready and sat down once again to finally step onto the path of cultivation.
Focusing his will within his dantian, Matthew started to condense the 100 wisps of Spiritual Qi to perfect the first Qi Cyclone.
Compared to the abhorrent task of absorbing the record-breaking amount of 100 wisps of Spiritual Qi, condensing them wasn't very hard.
Coupled with Senior Wudi's extensive instructions that he provided inside the jade slip and Matthew's previous experience, the process went smoothly, and Matthew, within just a few minutes, was able to condense his first Qi Cyclone down to its absolute limit.
But when he finished it, something amazing happened that even managed to shock Senior Wudi, who was resting inside the Nine-Ringed Divine Throne.
After his Qi Cyclone was finally created, a small sonic boom burst out from Matthew's body, destroying and propelling much of the area around him.
But if that were the limit of the phenomenon, Senior Wudi wouldn't have been shocked, as even he had something similar happen back when he was in the Qi Refining Realm.
It was what followed him that shocked him. Before the sonic boom dissipated, a strong pulling force sucked in everything that was launched.
Both shocked and unprepared, Matthew was hit in the stomach by a destroyed cabinet.
"Fuck! Senior Wudi, why didn't you warn me that this would happen?" Matthew cried out as he struggled to bring himself out of the rubble that covered him.
'I didn't know that this would happen either. I couldn't have tested this cultivation technique, could I? So, in a sense, you were the test dummy.' Senior Wudi awkwardly responded.
Hearing such an irresponsible response from his 'Master,' Matthew was about to fly into a rage, but before he could, his 'Master' spoke up again.
'But don't get angry. Look inside your dantian. It's no longer sucking in objects. Instead, it's only slowly absorbing the Spiritual Qi within the air. I assume that the strong suction force was only a one-off event.' Senior Wudi said with rare bit of emotion.
While Matthew was definitely feeling aggrieved at the previous phenomenon, it was all swept away after hearing that his Qi Cyclone could now act as a black hole.
Looking inside his dantian, he realized that Senior Wudi was right.
In his dantian, Matthew could clearly see that his Qi Cyclone was just like a black hole rotating at an astronomical speed while pulling in the nearby Spiritual Qi!
If it weren't his own dantian inside of him or Senior Wudi hadn't pointed it out, Matthew most likely wouldn't have been able to notice this.
But just as Matthew was about to start cheering at his success, the door to the basement kicked open, and the twins dove in like Seal Team 6.
"Mat, are you okay!" Joanne yelled as she rolled in.
"Mat, what happened!" John shouted as he followed in after his sister.
Stunned at their performance, Matthew, who was still half stuck under rubble, didn't know how to react for a moment.
However, before he could even explain himself to the kids, Amanda and Eva also appeared at the top of the staircase.
The two women didn't have either the atheism or the cultivation to do the acts of gymnastics, so Amanda and Eva took the flight of stairs down to check on the situation down below.
Seeing the two women look so worried for him warmed Matthew's heart but also made him feel rather embarrassed.
He was, after all, now a full-fledged Rank 2 Cultivator but was being comforted by a pair of mortal women.
"I'm fine. Nothing bad happened. If anything, something good happened thanks to this." Matthew responded to their empathy calmly as he pulled himself out of the rubble as if it were nothing.
The pile of wood, stone, and other common materials used in house furniture on top of Matthew weighed a few dozen pounds at the minimum. However, Matthew was now a Qi Refining Realm cultivator, and after using some Spiritual Qi to reinforce his body, getting out from underneath it was nothing.
Stunned at the sudden show of strength, Amanda and Eva didn't know how to act next. But once they looked at the calm Joanne and John, something clicked between them.
From the weird novel Matthew had made them read for the past hour and the superhuman strength that the family of three had been showing, the two women finally figured out what Matthew had been foreshadowing.
And Amanda, the smarter one, spoke up about it first, albeit hesitantly.
"Matthew, so you and the twins have superpowers? And that gust of wind gave you them?" Amanda slowly spoke.
It was as if even she couldn't believe the words coming out of her own mouth. After all, what she had just said would completely destroy her view of the world if it were true.
"So you read the novel well! Then I won't have to explain much to you." Matthew indirectly answered as he cleaned himself from the rubble still stuck to his body.
"This world is going to go sh*t in the next six months. But after that, shit is going to hit the fan. So until then, I need both of you and all of your energy to prepare for these upcoming hard times!" Matthew dominantly spoke.
""Ok?"" Amanda and Eva couldn't speak up clearly as their minds were still reeling from the situation.
"Amanda, you and Eva need to keep up with the times," Joanne profoundly said as if she were a teacher teaching an ignorant student.
"Joanne is right, you two. Joanne, you and John go catch them up with what you two know. I need to clean up this mess." Matthew spoke aloud.
But using a sound transmission that the two women couldn't hear, he added, "Don't tell them about Senior Wudi without my permission. Just about the cultivation realms and the changing world."
Nodding at Matthew, the twins took the two women upstairs and began to teach them while Matthew cleaned up his mess.
