Walking towards the entrance to the next floor I felt my heart pounding. Life had been so mundane so boring and slow. While I had a few interesting battles and our fights were fruitful for experience, our pacing had been too fast not spending a wealth of time in one place.
The stairwell started to decrease in light but due to the night vision not much had changed except the colour of my vision. Pushing myself to go faster I practically glided down the stairs until we came to a large open area filled with adventurers and low strength monster corpses.
People of all shapes and sizes coddled together in small groups. Some skinned corpses while others looked to be on guard or resting with their group. Blood seemed to be painting a gruesome battle as it lay on the floor and bathed the adventurers in its ichor colour. Moving past we stood out with our looks and lack of bloody attire, some stared while others ignored us.
The door to the next floor was guarded just like the last, passing through we were met by another set of tiresome stairs. This continued for 10 floors but with the number of adventurers noticeably diminishing the deeper we delved. Finally onto the next set of stairs we encountered a door to the next floor, most likely a mini boss, Stepping past the boundary of the door I lost all sense of balance. This room had no gravity defying all known laws of physics. From the outside it looks like a forest filled with flowers and trees. Turning towards the door was a complete 180 of the scenery around us. Flesh is compounded together with throbbing veins creating a puzzle and mouths stitched together with muscle fibres. Corpses were fused with the wall but on another look they were... alive squealing for help or maybe death. In my peripheral a long insect moved around the walls with multiple legs digging into the wall to crawl towards me. With no other worlds it was a bastardisation of a centipede mixed with a spider.
Unable to move or dodge I had to come up with a plan otherwise I would be mincemeat like the others even with my strength. I had already tried making a platform beneath my feet with airstep but something seemed to be inhibiting my magic so I had no other choice. Turning to Lilly who was frozen in shock I used all of my processing power to come up with a strategy.
"Lilly use your gravity domain spell on me, I should be able to handle the strain of the spell long enough to kill that monster."
"No even with your stats you won't be able to handle it! I can't control the strength of the spell either. I don't want to hurt you and I don't want you to die!"
"This is non negotiable Lilly it's either that or I blow myself up to propel myself towards the monster."
My eyes started to glow I could feel them consuming my rage at my weakness over not being able to protect her in any situation. Even with all these cheat powers and overwhelming strength I am still weak in some ways. Lilly's face paled as she looked at me she probably thinks I'm mad at her, I'll have to clear it up after.
Closing my eyes I smiled at her as gently as I could. I said the only thing I could think of
"Please"
...
...
..."Okay"...
A small and gentle whisper was barely picked up by my enhanced hearing. Her palm was faced towards me as she incanted her spell to speed the casting time. Gradually I could feel the pull of gravity placing me onto the floor before a great crushing force made my knees buckle under the pressure. My joints creaked as my bones tried to resist the heavy gravity. Using my willpower I forced my body into an upright position. For the first time in a long time I started to bleed but not in a normal sense. A viscous Black liquid fell from my nose absorbing light. It was pure mana... My mana.
I probably wouldn't have long before I succumbed to the pressure of the gravity so I had to act fast. Pushing off the ground with all my strength I ran towards the centipede, Before my current situation I tried pulling out my lever action rifle I tried firing a few bullets but due to the difference in environment it didn't work properly. The Rules of this room defied any normal situation. with my guns not working I had to get close and personal to this monster.
Pulling out a failed experiment if mine I layered mana into the channels creating a 'mana blade' . Swinging myself in circles on my heel I channeled all the momentum that I could with the artificial gravity I swiftly collided with part of the creature tearing into its body while the shockwave dented the rock beneath it.
Shreeking in pain it turned to me with high speed stabbing it's arms into me.
Although I could feel nothing due to pain nullification mana blood spurted from my body as it tore into me making the ground below me pitch black. Roaring in return I increased the force in which I cleaved into the monster severing it in two.Turning to Lilly I gave her the signal, Immediately she stopped casting the gravity spell and multiple elemental balls formed before being fired in the direction of the centipede.
Finally it was dead I was still too weak as my sight became fuzzy and I felt light headed I could hear something it was probably Lilly but my sight was so unfocused I couldn't tell and whatever she was saying was incomprehensible.
Everything was becoming dark and peaceful how I missed the abyss.
