(''There aren't any hotels around for me to spend the night in?'') I really can't be spending the night with a woman, not after being through everything that has happened with Lucet.
(''Don't be such a child Abby, I don't bite. Hehe~'')
I don't know what my face was showing but I certainly felt warmer than I should. This girl really knows how to tease me, and we've only known each other for a few hours.
(''And Abby, how would there be hotels? We never have outsiders come here. Put a little more thought into things before you say them.'')
I guess she does raise a good point, of course there wouldn't be. But I'm sure she will figure something out, there is no way we would be sleeping in the same bed…right? Haha…definitely not.
Her small palm unlatched itself from my arm and a crack followed right after. The unoiled hinges were quite a pain to deal with, how could they put up with it for so long? They are so advanced but can't fix their doors?
(''Just take a few steps forward by yourself, I'm sure you don't my help for that. When you get inside you can take your blindfold off.'')
I did just as he did, though I spread my arms out like a bird trying to maintain my balance. She giggled at me just as she always had, but it wasn't long before the material under my foot became soft. The thick door shut behind me and with it came down my blindfold.
The room was well decorated with various painting and tapestries. On every wall a window had been blacked out, I assume for me, but that was considerate.
A dining table seemingly sprouted from the floor, it was covered with a red table-cloth and vase of flowers neatly placed in the centre. Their smell tingled my nostrils, no matter how much I rubbed my nose the tingling wouldn't stop. Their violet shade were quite captivating, reminding me of someone in the room with me.
From the ceiling a chandelier hung. It was powered by light crystals, which was odd because…
(''How do you guys have the light crystals here? I thought no one comes around here.'')
She brought a glass of water and stuck it on the table close to me. I took a sip and was instantly hit with a wave of frin. Water rich frin like this is hard to come by!
(''No one comes here yes. But we do venture above ground sometimes and sell some of our products in exchange for farming equipment and light crystals.'')
That's quite smart, but still how come no one has reported anything on blue-eyed elves? I stared at her, more specifically her eyes, which she instantly sighed at me for.
(''Seriously Abby…we blindfolded so they wouldn't think there was anything different about us from other elves.'')
I'm starting to feel bad about asking all these questions but my curiosity knows no bounds. For now I will back off slightly with the questions, sleeping would be the best idea for now.
(''Last question.'')
(''What is it Abby?'')
(''Where am I sleeping?'')
(''Upstairs. There is a large double bed, you can rest on that for tonight. I'll be here downstairs sleeping on the couch. If you need anything give me a shout.'')
I promptly nodded and headed up the slim set of stairs leading upstairs. Each step creaked loudly, reminding me of the chief's house . On the landing the bed was hidden away in a corner beside a research table with various papers scattered across.
On the walls were various boards with pictures tied together using red twine. 'Destine children' That phrase was circled with tons of that redness. I recall seeing this from somewhere…Oh, yeah! It was at the Inn where we met Ross and Nigel, that tapestry was quite freaky.
But why would she be looking into this? It's not like its a real thing right? I couldn't stop myself though, I needed to know everything here.
On the desk, a small apparatus was counting what seemed to be time.
-Two Years, seventeen days-
What will happen when this timer hits zero? You know what, even thinking about it gives me chills. What else is around here?
Among a pile of paper there was a picture sticking out. It slid out with a little pull and it flopped around lazily. Woah. Who is this girl?
Her head was draped in a set of congo pink hair that had been mostly tied in a ponytail. Two large locks swung loosely by the sides of her head. Overgrown bangs had nearly hidden her golden eyes, their gaze felt like a needle piercing right through me. Around her head she had a crumbling crown formed of candles that burned brightly.
Who the hell is this girl? And why is she so strangely beautiful? God why am I surrounded by pretty girls? I just need Zeraf!!
It took me a second to calm my flushed cheeks before digging around more. There were other pictures of people but no one stood out as much as that girl.
Fshh
A picture slid across the floor from the table. It seemed to be some sort of jester with a red smile and silver hair reaching down to his shoulders. Despite his cheery smile I could feel the gaze of a predator, this was no mere jester. Hunting in the wild had tought me enough about sensing intention
Why would she have these two dangerous looking people among her documents? I hope there never comes a time when I have to meet these people, at least not any time soon.
(''And here I thought you were really tired. You sure are curious, if I didn't know any better I would've thought you were a cat. All you are missing is a pair of ears and whiskers. Haha'')
Creak
Creak
Creak
(''What are you interested in young Abby? I'll explain it to you.'') She grabbed the seat by the table and opened a drawer which had hid a thick, leather journal. The cover spine was crimson red while the main parts were pitch black.
(''Who is that girl?'') I flashed the picture in her face which she swiftly swiped it from my hands.
(''Of course you ask about the girl first. Well I'm sure you snooped around enough to have picked up on the concept of the 'destined children'. They are capable of ending humanity as we know it. They have nearly endless wells of power comparing to us mortals.'')
That much power? For just one person to wield? Surely that would be catastrophic…but it lines up with what that tapestry portrayed at the Inn.
(''It is a rare occurrence for a destined child to be born, but its quite random with the births. Sometimes its hundreds of thousands of years. Sometimes only one thousand. But this time…two have been born.'')
Two?! What? How are we going to kill them when we can only realistically do one at a time? That's too much power for two people to wield!
(''The girl you were looking at is one of them. Aside from this picture there is not much else I know about her, but my suspicions are she has the destruction magical affinity. Those fools kept killing children who developed it but look at what happened! If they just nurtured and brough up the child properly then it wouldn't even be a threat.'')
She seems very passionate when it comes to this topic. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face as she clutched her mouth almost as if in thought.
(''What about that jester? Who is he?'')
Her hand dropped revealing a deep frown. Among the seemingly endless amounts of papers she grabbed one in particular. She handed it to me, implying that I would have to read it.
'Research Topic- Outer Deities'
'Threat Level- Multi Dimensional'
'Aim/Goal- Unknown'
'Current Dimension- Lierdo, the Demonic Realm'
(''What the…hell is this Blossom?'')
She ripped the paper out of my grip and placed back onto the stack of sheets. No words were exchanged between us for a few brief moments before her soft voice broke the silence.
(''I'm not certain, this is just a theory…but I think one of the outer dieties ruling over Lierdo is trying to manifest in our world and he might be using the destined child for that. He shouldn't be able to do something on that level without a sufficient host. Perhaps he will use the destined child to create a proper host to wreak havoc on this world.'')
That is not…no this can't be. An outer deity? Someone more powerful than Lucet and Israh exists? Why must they be so cruel?
(''But…there is a way to put an end to their plan, and it might be the only option we have.'')
(''What is it? I'm sure we can execute that plan!'')
(''We must get the two destined children to fight eachother. If he beats her then we would put a stop to the outer deity.'')
(''Great! So who is the second destined child?'')
(''....'')
(''Well? Do you not know who it is Blossom?'')
(''It's you Abby.'')
