Chapter 33 - Trust Between Comrades

(''Let me get this straight. Two destined children have been born this time around with the help of some outer deity's meddling. And you are saying that I am one of the destined children. In order to save the world I have to defeat that girl.'')

She nodded her head, though she wasn't exactly pleased about the information I have learned, that much was clearly written on her face. I am not very keen on having to kill a girl to save the world, at least not now.

(''This is a lot to ask of you, and I understand that it may feel daunting. But please understand that you are our only hope in this battle. At best the gods can offer you support and help you reach her level but I can't promise they can fight your battle.'')

This is too much to wrap my head around at once. I want to doubt her but things are slowly piecing together. A goddess searching for me and supporting me to grow. Helping me reach the Kings Game for no reason. Even her telling me that I would grow powerful should've raised some sort of alarm bells in my head. Was I that clueless that nothing fell into place?

(''I meant no harm by telling you all of this. There were things that I thought you should know as the person who will save the world.'')

From the drawer she pulled out two small journals and outstretched one to me. I feebly grabbed the notebook and flicked through the empty pages. There was nothing to see on the snow white paper.

(''Turn to the first page Abby.'')

I did as she said and flicked to the very first page of the book, this time it was different though. Ink started corrupting the page in words as I heard the scratching of a quill. Blossom had been writing in her journal and it was being sent to mine. That's incredible!

(''I gave you one so we can keep in touch even after you leave. We can exchange information and keep each other updated, I assume that is fine with you.'')

I gripped the back of I neck in reluctance but inevitably nodded in agreeance. The more allies, the better chance of growing stronger and winning the battle.

(''But Blossom how do you know so much about all of these things? I would think that this information would only be available to important individuals.'')

She giggled again. (''I'm going to tell you a secret Abby, and only because we are now partners in crime.'')

Gulp.

(''I have deep connections with Ireul the Lord of Harvest. He gives me the information that the gods are talking about.'')

Woah. That's incredible networking, but I feel like it makes sense when you realise the type of vegetation they manage to grow here. Some of their crops are region based but for them it doesn't matter, they just grow it as if they were in that region.

(''And beside being friends with him. There is another way that I acquire my information.'')

(''There are four major elf tribes in Kine. We are the people of Blundir, that is shown by our blue eyes. We specialise in alchemy and support magic arts. Each family has their own special ability that runs through their veins.'')

(''My family consists of seers. We can take peeks into the future but it expends a huge portion of our frin supplies. Over my two hundred years of having this gift I have managed to piece together most of what will happen in regards to that girl.'')

That makes sense. She is quite a smart girl, much smarter than me so teaming up might be the best course of action. Especially since she is the most open and honest person with me. Well aside from Void but its not like she could hide anything from me since she is stuck in my head.

(''There are some promises I need you to make now. Please never reveal anything about us to anyone, not even a lover. We are a hidden tribe with advanced arts, you know what would happen if they fall in the wrong hands.'')

(''I promise!'')

(''Next. Promise that you will continue to grow enough to defeat that girl. It is essential not only for us but the whole world that you grow enough to kill her.'')

(''...I…Promise.'')

(''Good. Last thing is that you must promise to update me at least once a week. Keep me up to date with anything that may affect you or will cause problems in the future.'')

(''I promise.'')

With just three promises I have formed an alliance with Blossom.

(''I guess you could say that your alliance will Blossom. Pfft.'')

Very funny Void. I assume you've finished simplifying the lecture from earlier.

(''You are correct my young boy. If you manage to master these arts you stand a good chance at rivalling pretty much any participant at the Kings Game. Unless some nosey goddess decides to join then you should be fine.'')

Perfect. Now that you are done with that, I need you to go through everything Blossom and I just talked about. We need to be more inventive with the methods we use to grow. Weapon creation simply won't cut it. I need to be capable in all aspect of a battle, no, a war.

(''Yeesh. You really are a slave driver ain't ya boy. Very well I'll devise these things while you are trained by her tomorrow. Combat in the vacuum of darkness can be one of your biggest allies.'')

Hopefully I'm as capable as I've been up to this point. I couldn't help but smile a weak smile. Many more tougher battles await me in the future, so I must grow stronger than what people expect.

(''Uhm Abby, why are you smiling?'')

(''Oh yeah. I should be open about her too. I have a voidling named Void stuck in my head that helps me create weapons and spells. She has also helped me with magic theory and had summarised what you taught me previously.'')

(''So that's why you stare off into nothingness at times, you are talking to her! That makes quite a lot of sense. Thank you for telling me. No secrets between us from now on!'')

She reached her hand out, an empty palm waited to be embraced. (''Hell yeah!'') The clap stung me a bit but that's part of the excitement.

(''Sooo~ Since there are no secrets between us now…do you have a girlfriend?'')

Pffft-

(''QUITE SUDDEN DON'T YOU THINK?!'')

(''I'm just kidding Abby. No need to get that red-faced. You look like a damn tomato. Hahaha'')

Why does everyone love to tease me so much?! What did I to deserve this? I am the saviour of the world and they treat me like this? Blasphemy! No. Treason!

(''So then I assume you are also a virgi-'')

(''Yeah and so w-what? It's not like someone like you has any game. You are just a flat-chested short girl!'')

(''I dare you to say that again.'')

(''No ma'am.'')

(''Pfft. You are seriously too cute Abby. How do you not have a girlfriend?'')

Do I answer her honestly or just say I don't have one? I feel bad about lying after she has been so open…

(''The truth is that one of my travel companions lied to me in order to leave the cart. She had told me that we would be hunting but in reality she wanted to uh…yeah.'')

(''Though it is partially my fault as I proposed the idea of a trial relationship. She kept trying to seduce me so I thought it would be a good idea to try this method out. But she clearly couldn't take it slowly and that's how we got here.'')

She was visibly amused by my little story, so much so that she couldn't contain her smile. (''But is there someone you actually like?'')

(''Well yeah. My childhood bestfriend, Zeraf. But since I've grown for Lucet, Ghost and even Void a little. I feel bad but something feels different since I've started this journey. Perhaps Lucet's aura had affected me where I can't contain my feelings..'')

(''So you caught a case of cute girl syndrome huh.'')

(''That's a very crude way of saying it but yeah I guess so.'')

(''Anyway don't you think we should sleep Abby? I'm sure you are just as tired as I am so let's continue our chat tomorrow.'')

The gravity felt like it was amplified as I trudged to the comfy bed feeling more alive than a wooden chair. My butt melted into the silken white sheets.

Blossom stood up and walked towards the stair before she turned around one final time. (''Get plenty of rest because tomorrow I am not going easy on you Abby.'')

(''Yes ma'am.'')

(''Cut that out. I'm serious.'')

Eep-

Alright no more joking like that I guess.

(''Goodnight Blossom.'')

(''Goodnight Abby.'')

All that followed her sweet voice was the roar of the creaky stairs. I should bestow a nugget of knowledge to them tomorrow on how to fix all the creaking.

Yawnn~

But for now I should get some well deserved shut eye.
