There were animals that were infected or had evolved which added to the numerous difficulties that would appear in the future along with some other evolution routes so there was a need for Brick to slowly pass on some of that information.
He had started to feed her little pieces on what he had witnessed and some possible results that could happen in the future that were a little more believable than telling her about all the things that would take place.
If he did not tell her then she would not be prepared for what was to come but if he told her too much then she would have a hard time believing what he had told her or could lead her to wondering how he knew so much.
Brick had not spotted or encountered any grade one zombies so far but they should have started appearing in more populated areas.
He had kept a close watch over the zombies that had come inside of the staircase but he could not find any among the crowd.
The only true way to tell that they were an evolved zombie was that their movements were better than before and their balance was slightly better so they moved faster on their feet and were less clumsy.
If they were an evolved zombie then they would be pushing their way through the other zombies that were slower than itself or it would have been walking ahead of the horde.
The posture had improved a little so that was another way to spot them if someone was able to look carefully at the differences in each of their movements.
Once they had started to clear up and there were no longer any new zombies appearing after a long time, Brick turned to Tanya. "It is your turn to watch my back and help me out. If there is anyone else that needs some practice that you trust well enough then call them."
Tanya thought to herself for a moment before saying. "I will go get Buffy then we will assist you."
A smile appeared on the face of Brick. "That is good."
The door had been opened and it took a little time before Buffy and Tanya both appeared holding their bow and quiver that held their arrows.
Each of the arrows were previously blunt training arrows but had been sharpened to allow for more of them to be able to pierce the bodies of the zombies better.
There may have been some failures in the beginning from some of them but they quickly adapted in order to survive.
Brick moved down the stairs and started to move over the things that had been placed in the way of the lower floors.
There was a lot to move so it took a little time and some noise had been made when he was moving everything.
Some noises had come from the floor beneath which had suddenly had a zombie that was roaming around and had not fallen along with the others.
Just as it had come out from the door and walked towards Brick who was still behind some of the barricades. "Hrr."
The groans were heard close by which caused Brick to look over towards the zombie that was moving towards the barricades that blocked it from getting to him.
It would not let the barricades stop it and tried to push its body over until an arrow had flown down from above and hit its shoulder.
Brick shouted loud enough for those above to hear him. "The head. It is a waste of arrows if you hit anywhere else. Keep going."
He continued to watch as another arrow pierced the neck but its movements were not stopped so it had proven that his warning were correct.
One more arrow had flown down towards the eye once the zombie had climbed up higher then it fell backwards and stopped moving.
Brick raised his thumb towards the two girls before continuing to clear the way and then he checked the floor that he was on in the hallway before motioning them to come down.
The footsteps got closer as they both came down and looked around, Brick led them towards different rooms where they took some supplies and turned off any of the devices.
Once they were done on one floor, the door for that floor had been opened up again and Brick checked the staircase before going down to the next floor with the two girls watching his back.
On another floor they had encountered two zombies that remained in the hallway and had been alerted to the presence of the three of them.
They both had increased their speed slightly and moved towards Brick who was at the front.
Brick gave Buffy and Tanya some advice. "Aim for the right one and I will delay the left one. Remember to coordinate your shots and keep an arrow ready."
Live target practice was in front of them and they needed to quickly adapt to the zombies movement patterns if they wanted to be able to use their archery abilities at all in the future.
Each arrow was precious just like the time needed to open fire and reload a new one so when they were put in a more dangerous situation, they needed to be able to kill the zombies with one arrow.
If they could not kill with one arrow then their archery abilities would not be enough to help them survive.
If Tanya wished to form her own team then they needed so be able to support her and she had some that had some potential if they could learn how to accurately hit the zombies in the right place.
Brick stepped forward and went towards the zombie on the left before raising his hand and stepping back again.
The zombie had been excited upon picking up the scent of his hand then reached out towards it and moved its head forward with its mouth wide open. "Huaa."
The zombie to the right had started to move towards Brick too so Brick had to retreat back out of its range and to get out of the line of fire.
The zombie on the left had suddenly slammed its face into some kind of invisible barrier and was knocked backwards which surprised both of the girls that were watching.
An arrow flew towards the zombie on the right and pierced its head which had come from Tanya while Buffy had readied her shot.
Tanya was reloading another arrow onto her bow then once she was nearly done, she signalled Buffy who took aim towards the zombie that had been within her line of fire.
Brick had already retreated and got out of the way so the zombie that was climbing back up had been easier to target. "Fire."
The arrow flew towards the head and it fell down which showed that Brick had been worrying for nothing. "Not bad both of you."
Perhaps it was that Brick had lessened the pressure on them by delaying on of them or that he had made one of them easier to target when it was down but their own accuracy with a bow could not be denied.
If Brick tried to do the same then he would have no confidence in being able to so he couldn't help but be a little envious of them.
He did have some guns but they were much too loud and would attract the attention of more zombies nearby so there was always a need for a more silent ranged option like a crossbow or bow and arrow.
