Chapter 5 - Smell Of Ashes (II)

It didn't take long for a loud 'bang' to resound through the entire palace.

The entire room exploded, debris flying around while my flames continued to spread and devour anything in it's path, taking my life force continually.

I hesitated to continue... I needed the strength to do more damage so I stopped the flames.

I was lucky enough to not get hit by death as the walls collapsed and the ceiling also, it was mainly due to my evasion skills that I dodged but the roof had other plans for me. So I jumped off the room in the last second of mercy from the god of life.

That's right, I'm falling down the highest room in the castle. Well, that shouldn't be called a room anymore. More like; 'Emerelda's fury'.

How am I to survive, you'd say?

I, too, am not sure. Couldn't I have dodged to the other wall within the palace?! Curse my stupidity.

Countless thoughts flashed through my head as I fell with an alarming speed due to gravity.

In my haste, I shouted.

"Seprio! Alanex- si!"

A close call to death once more but I landed safely due to wind magic. Matilda, I love you. Even if I was unmotivated, you instilled life saving skills in my head.

Drained from the use of magic, I laid on the forest floor staring at the sky.

It didn't know how long I stayed there... I just did. Feeling mentally drained.

Soon the sound of footsteps approaching came near me. The crunching of the dried leaves and twigs on the forest ground.

I turned my stiff body to the direction and I saw white boots.

Raising my head up, I saw Xavier.

"You came out for fresh air, too?" I grinned.

He came closer to me and crouched down, lifting me up like a sack over his shoulders as he stood up.

"Did you forget my essence was in you?" He said and for a second, I was stunned.

How the hell did I forget? Yes, I know.

I face-palmed mentally. Putting his essence in me wasn't just to 'protect' me, it was to track me.

"Damnit, Xavier, you cunning prince! Stop sprouting bullshit like that when you can just tell me directly!"

He chuckled as he made his way towards wherever in this unknown forest.

"I don't know what goes on in your head, Eme. But I'm very sure it's delusional."

Xavier's deep silky voice resounded in the forest and while I found it specifically attractive today, I couldn't help but mutter.

"Hateful!"
