Chereads / A New Beginning Of The Heavenly Demon / Chapter 5 - Return Of The Heavenly Demon

Chapter 5 - Return Of The Heavenly Demon

Boom!

A vast pressure swept like tidal waves upon all the gangsters, making them pale with fright. Neither they could move nor channel their mana to break free. Everything in a kilometer radius paused with time as the winds stopped blowing, trees ceased rustling and everyone even forgot to breathe.

There was a pin-drop silence with only the sounds of heart pounding.

Kacha!

A breaking sound emerged from the coffin, bringing everyone's attention.

They saw the lid of the coffin opening from where two hands first came out. Then an ancient-looking young man around twenty years old steadily stood up. He had flawless light-toned skin as soft as a newborn baby with a well-built body having appealing compact muscles.

He had long red-colored hair with a tinge of dark green shade swaying behind his back. The other terrifying thing was that each strand of his hair felt that it contained a tremendous amount of power, capable of killing them all.

As for his face, it was even perfect. The more they peep, the more they feel devoured by its grace, confusing their mind and senses. They had the thought of wanting to kneel and worship him on the spot.

He was definitely someone beyond their scope. Or even their world. So, they didn't dare to stare at him anymore. Besides, he was naked as well. It was embarrassing.

Nonetheless, that man didn't seem to care about it at all, confident that these ants wouldn't have the audacity to gaze at him which proved to be true.

Creak!Creak!

His bones made loud crackling noises as he took one step at a time, approaching them with a curious expression.

"It is indeed divinity. But it's too weak." He muttered while observing them coldly like lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

He thought that those immortals might have finally traced him back, forcing him to wake from his deep slumber. Now, this doesn't seem to be the case.

How can these weaklings have the boldness to chase after him? Nevertheless, there were still questions that needed to be asked since the divinities inside them couldn't be faked. Furthermore, these divinities weren't similar to the ones he had faced during that battle.

"How did you all obtain this divinity?" There was no emotion in his voice.

The gangsters turned toward each other and shook their heads. They had never heard of it.

"We don't know what it means." The Boss summoned his courage and spoke with great difficulty.

"Lies!" A thunderous voice sounded in his ears, and he saw something flashing past his chest at the speed of light.

Ahh!

He cried out in pain as a long strand of hair pierced him, reaching a few centimeters away from his heart.

Seeing this, everyone gulped their saliva in fear.

"Are you talking about mana?" The youngster hurriedly lit up a silver ball of energy in his palm that fluctuated the space.

As someone who had read lots of fantasy stories, he could somewhat guess what the man in front of him wanted. Also, in order to save his boss, he had to speak.

"Mana?"

The man glanced at him with interest. "Continue."

"It all started three hundred years ago with the emergence of spatial storms that appeared…"

The youngster told the history of the earth; from the beginning of seven continents and countries to how only one continent was left for humans to survive due to the disaster. From how mana flowed from those storms to how they reinvigorated the world. But he paused once he reached the topic of awakening.

"Can you first please promise us that you will let us go?" He beggingly asked.

"No!" There wasn't a single bit of hesitation in the man's voice.

The youngster shuddered, including the other gangsters. Were they all going to die here? However, his next words gave them hope.

"If you can prove you are worthy to serve me, then I might let you live."

The youngster heaved a sigh of relief. There was still a chance.

"Lord, I have a new set of clothes for you." He swiftly drew some runic circles on the air using his mana and from there he pulled out a black ancient Chinese suit.

"Damn! That bastard. Knowing that the lord might not fancy modern clothes, he chose that one. Moreover, what is the purpose of carrying such clothes in this era? Nobody wears them at all."

"Fucking weeb!"

The gangsters cursed them inwardly with anger written all over their faces. Then they began worrying about how to please the lord.

"Good!"

Putting on the clothes, Cayden became quite pleased with him. Maybe he could use him to establish a footing in this world and gather information.

Previously, he had broken into this world to recuperate because it had no contact with spiritual energy, signifying no contact with immortals. As a result, he could hide here safely without any worries.

But how could he have guessed that this world would suddenly change? Even having the power of divinities. It was weird.

In addition, he was disturbed before he could completely recover. Currently, he had just finished materializing his physical body and he didn't even remember how long it took.

Now, the next step was to restore his cultivation base while investigating the mystery of this world. This would take even more time. It was also one of the reasons why he couldn't soul-search them.

Recollecting his thoughts, he questioned, "What's your name?"

"My Lord, it's Bryan." The youngster bowed happily.

"Hmm, tell me about the awakening." He went straight to the point.

Bryan took a deep breath and explained. "It all started when we humans were about to perish. It was said that divine lights rain down from the heavens on a few selected individuals who then obtained a status panel like us."

From his hands, a blue virtual projection was displayed in the air.

Name: Bryan

Class: Space Magician

Rank: D+

Experience: 333/10000

Skills: Spatial Storage (F+)

Short-burst (D+)

Strength: 20+

Vitality: 12+

Mana: 22+

Senses: 21+

"Once you kill monsters and enemies from other races, you can obtain experience points through which you can upgrade your skills, stats, and rank. As for the class, it is decided the moment you awaken and it can't be changed."

"Using this divine power, we managed to stay strong on our feet. Not only that, but we are also gradually taking back our lands. After all, you have to fight to obtain strength."

"Interesting." Cayden's expression became dark as he understood something. There were definitely some immortals using this trick to gather faith. To know better, he had to study this power.

"So, were you also blessed by the divine light?" He inquired.

"Nope! There are no signs of them this century. Nowadays, the descendants of the awakeners automatically awaken at the age of 16. For those who can't, there are priests who have the ability to help people awaken. And I was one of them."

Bryan then added. "I heard that there are few cults these days that have made potions using various immoral methods to forcibly awaken. These people are considered evil and are hunted down everywhere."

"Speaking of cults, are you one of them? I don't think robbing graves are a good thing." Cayden smirked, causing him to panic.

"No! We gangs are like mercenaries who group up to hunt down monsters. We are completely different. We were just following our gang leader's orders." He meekly replied.

"Haha" Cayden laughed wildly as his aura became extremely violent, shaking the earth under his feet.

His hair elongated and drilled into the ground, surfacing from near the bodies of the other gangsters.

Ahh!

By the time they noticed, it had already been too late. Their brains were punctured and blood spilled out like a fountain.

"Come"

Minuscule blue flames similar to his spark of divinity were dragged down by his hair and brought straight into his mouth.

"Heavens! Is that the source of our status panel?" Bryan cried out in astonishment. He couldn't believe what he saw. How strong must someone be to do that?

"Consider this your punishment for offending me. As for you, I will let it slide for once." Cayden threatened him.

"I apologize, my lord." Bryan kowtowed.

"Humph! Remember you still haven't proved your worth to me. Your life isn't any different. Now take me to your headquarters. I want to see the ones behind this." Cayden ordered.

"Yes! Yes." He nodded and led the way while wiping the sweat off his forehead.

Abruptly, he paused and asked, pointing towards the injured boss lying ahead of him. "My Lord! What do we do about him?"

"Kill him with your own hands. How dare he put his filthy hands on my resting place?" Without waiting for his response, Cayden moved forward, leaving him alone.

"Uncle Adam!"

Bryan stuttered as he called out with a sad expression.

"Kiddo, didn't I tell you not to call me that during a mission."

"Cough..cough…"

Adam scolded with great difficulty.

"Kiddo, who could have thought that I would meet my end here? In such a place?"

Without letting him speak, he continued.

"I always wanted to be a powerful warrior, proud of my land. But I offended someone I shouldn't have, compelling me to leave the military. Now I am here, dying in such a manner."

"I am not satisfied. I had many things I wanted to do. But watching you grow has always been beautiful."

"Cough…cough.."

"Uncle, stop it. Maybe he won't find out if I let you live." Bryan took out medicines from his space as he wiped his tears.

"Forget it! I am old. I don't want you to take the risk. Just finish me off. Maybe you will have a bright future ahead." Adam patted his shoulder, smilingly.

His hands shook as he nodded unwillingly. But he couldn't do it in the end even after taking out his knife.

"Uncle.."

"No!!!!"

Adam pulled his arm, taking the knife straight to his heart.

"Pass this to them and tell them I am sorry…."

A letter dropped down from his other hand, splashing on the dripping blood.
