As I listened to Megan and Aaron's bickers I started to space out. What brought me back was the same scent from before, Liam's scent. From that I knew that he was somewhere in the cafeteria.
I turned my head, scanning the room to see if I saw him, then I did. He was walking heading in the direction of our table. Seeing this I quickly turned around and tried to make sure he didn't see me.
"Liam, come join us." Aaron yelled over the noise of the cafeteria.
I shockingly looked at Aaron. In that moment I grinded my teeth in annoyance, for I wanted to rip his tongue out. Liam scent was getting stronger and stronger hinting that he was getting closer and closer, soon he appeared and took the seat next to me.
I buried my head inside my crossed arms on the table so as to prevent him from seeing me, and listened as Aaron started talking.
"How do you like Duskwood so far?" He asked Liam.
"It's alright. I only moved here since this weekend and haven't had time to wander around." Liam answered Aaron.
Liam was right here, next to me. I was trying so hard to hold back my tears. I know it wasn't him, but everything was alike. His scent, everytime I inhaled it I was reminded of my Liam. His voice, when I heard it I was taken back to the times he would comfort me when I suffered. His face, when I saw him, I was reminded of Liam's warm smile.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Aaron." I felt as Aaron stretched his hand over my head to shake Liam's. "Also, this is Megan, and that's Dominic." Aaron added, fixing himself back into his seat.
I also felt as Liam stretched his hand to shake Megan's. Feeling him this close made me just want to embrace him. I wanted to hug him and never let go again, though if I did that, it would have only made me look like a psycho.
Then again, I didn't want to seem cold, so I inhaled deeply before lifting up my head and turning to Liam.
As my eyes met his, Liam gasped then exclaimed, "IT'S YOU!"
I nervously chuckled, as I stretched out my hand to meet his, "It's Dominic. Sorry about this morning, it's just you reminded me of someone, but you're obviously not that person."
Liam took my hands to shake them, "Don't sweat it, no harm done. Besides I get that a lot."
His hands were warm. When my skin briefly touched his before letting go, I felt my heart skip a beat. I didn't want to let go of him, but that was my heart talking to me. My head on the other hand, was telling me to stay away from him, not wanting to repeat the mistake I made last time; even though he wasn't my Liam, or so I thought.
I was the first one to leave the cafeteria. I told them that I was wasn't feeling well, and that I was going to the nurse's office, but in fact I just wanted to be alone to think.
I could tell Megan must have known, but she didn't ask. She just said that she would get the assignments for me and that she would meet me back home.
I walked to the football field behind the school. And when I was sure that no one was around I vampire speeded into the forest beyond the field. I aimlessly ran as I reflected back to what happened today.
Eventually, I stopped, but by then I was already in the outskirts of Duskwood. I fell onto my back and looked up to the canopy of the trees that were blocking the sky. I sighed and while placing my left arm over my forehead and closed my eyes. All I could think about was Liam, and before I knew it, I was asleep.
Long after, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I slid my hand into the front pockets of my jeans and pulled out the phone. Seeing that the caller was Megan I quickly answered, "Yeah?"
"Where are you?" She asked rather worryingly.
I looked around to see that it was already dark, so I pulled the phone from my ears to check the time. I was shocked to see that it has been about five hours since I left, for it was already 6:00 p.m.
Quickly placing the phone back to my ear, I answered, "Sorry, I lost track of time. I'll be back soon."
I hung up the phone before Megan could say anything else and stuffed it back in my pocket. I got up off the ground and brushed my hands. Furthermore, I started running in vampire speed heading home.
About a minute later I was already back in Duskwood. When I noticed that I was almost back home I decided to walk at a normal human pace. Unhesitant, I took a shortcut through a back alley that lead to the path in direction of my house.
While I was walking I suddenly had the feeling of someone following me. From what I could tell he was about my height, and had about the same weight as me. He had a strong smell of alcohol, which meant that he had also just been drinking.
I turned at the corner that was there and silently waited at the edge for the person to walk past.
As I felt that he was near, I vampire speeded to the front of him and held him up against the wall. My fangs shot out as I yelled, "Who are you?"
It was dark so I couldn't see who it was, but now that I was closer, his scent under the alcohol started to smell familiar.
He started to chuckle before he opened his mouth and said, "You're still as sharp I see."
Recognizing his voice, I blurted in a shocked tone, "Ryan?"
Following that, he walked into the dim light and smirked, "Hey brother, It's been a while."
