Tears stung at the corner of Henry's eyes. Seeing the bodies of monsters was one thing, but the body of a human was something else entirely. He had seen many injuries in the few months he had been here, but never the body of someone who wasn't a knight. Being caught in the crossfire when you hadn't volunteered to fight in the war made someone's death all that much more tragic.
He didn't know it then, but it would be a sight he would get used to in the next couple of years.
"Henry was right," Sir Trenton said in a quiet voice. "He had seen lights in the tower before, but no one believed him. There are still people inside, commander."
The two commanders exchanged glances. This certainly changed the way they were going to approach the battle ahead of them.
