The mornings of early spring were still quite cold in Chemois and a gentle breeze brushing through caused goosebumps to rise on Henry's arms as he stood guard. In the distance, he could hear a clashing of swords and knights yelling at each other, trying to communicate on the battlefield for the best possible outcome.
His heart was racing at the noise and he couldn't help feeling envious of those who were able to see the action firsthand. He came here to be on the battlefield and that's precisely what he wanted to do. Instead, he was being forced to guard someone from the sidelines.
However, he knew it wasn't her fault that she needed someone to guard her. She was only trying to help whoever was left in the duke's tower. It was never her choice to be poisoned and forced to stay with a bunch of soldiers.
He heard another screech from one of the goblins and he sighed. His protective stance with his shield up and sword ready to strike had never faltered.
