Chapter 5 - A Fateful Meet (Part 4)

In the beginning, I would count the days wondering when the time mentioned would arrive. As I could feel no emotion there was no excitement, only an emotionless curiosity. I tried hard to remember the feeling of being complete I had but alas, it was for naught.

Very soon I lost track of time, the cold and warm thoughts in my mind occurred a lot less than before. Occasionally I would take the mysterious leather book and gaze at those blank pages until something interrupted me.

Karma: Time to go

The vague thought occurred to me as I stood up and spit out the piece of leaf from my mouth, walking blankly without any goal. There were often times that I preferred to stay in the embrace of the forests and trees, just like today. I walked for minutes and noticed a pair of trees intersecting each other forming a small door. I arrived in front of it and placed a foot in the front followed by the other.

My body whooshed past the rainbow-colored particle stream tunnel. The warm and cold thoughts which would usually discuss my next destination suddenly turned silent today. Something seemed to be occurring inside the rainbow tunnel. It was slowly turning golden and suddenly the leather book floated in front of me. The pages of the book flipped open and a string of characters appeared on it which soon left the page and entered the rainbow-colored tunnel increasing the pace at which it turned golden.

Just when the tunnel turned golden the mysterious thought from the guide emerged from the book.

[Traveler. The time has come. You are being guided toward your destination. Remember the lady, remember her face. Hurry up. You don't have much time.]

It was then, the face of a lady popped into my mind and then the golden tunnel started folding inside forming a door.

I placed a hand on the door and opened it. This time I was inside a room with the lady in front of me dressed in a blue gown, lying on the bed. There was a huge bulge on the stomach and for some reason I could now hear a small beat from that bulge, indicating the life being birthed inside it.

Just then the lady opened her eyes and clutched her bulging stomach, moaning, crying and shouting. Another woman wearing a white shirt and pants entered the room, she screamed for something and pressed a button beside the lady.

Soon a few other people entered. They dragged the lady along with the bed and moved her toward another room. I watched as a person entered the room and started instructing the lady to do something. The lady was crying and shouting, and the person encouraged her to keep on hanging. Suddenly the lady closed her eyes and stopped responding. Another person neared the lady and lightly patted her cheeks to wake her up but she wouldn't.

It was then the leather book in front of me flipped open and a stream of characters appeared. These characters then detached themselves from the book and flew towards the lady and divided themselves into two parts. One entered the forehead and the other towards the huge bulge.

Afterward, the lady slowly opened her eyes and the process began again, but this time something was different. Not with the process but with me.

-Badump-

-badump-

Two different heartbeats reverberated in my ears. One strong and one weak. This process continued as the duration between each of the beats started slowly decreasing, and then it happened.

-BADUMP-

A strong and intense heartbeat sounded in my ear and something which I had never experienced surged within me. It was as if I was once again reunited with my missing part. But it was very vague and soon disappeared.

The series of surprises did not just stop there.

[Hurry, place your palm on the guide.]

I unknowingly placed my palm on the open book. Another string of characters appeared on the page and divided themselves into two parts. One entered my hand and the other on the small child in the hands of the person.

Suddenly--

-Waah-

-Waah-

I heard the voice of a baby crying. Searching for the source my eyes locked on the only present baby in the room. As I gazed at that tiny life, my body automatically moved. My left hand stretched itself and my pinky made contact with the child's hands.

A flashing current ran past my mind and weird images popped out that I could not make out. I hurriedly moved my hand.

After a lengthy process, the child and the lady were moved towards a different room as I stood there blankly staring at my hand and followed the lady and the child to their new room.

Once again, I picked a corner and sat down. Just then the leather book opened and the thought reappeared.

[Hmm, the connection is stable. Alright, we succeeded. Traveler, see that small child. That child is your salvation and holds the key to your identity.]

Saying so, the voice cut down. The leather book lost its golden hue and closed itself. I hurriedly caught it. This time it was I who was surprised. Something compelled me to catch the leather book, it was then I recalled. I was 'Afraid.'

I was afraid of the leather book making a noise as it fell down. Afraid that the noise would wake the now peacefully sleeping child. Yes, I was sure I was 'Afraid.'

I stood up and approached the child. Once again I touched the child's small and little fingers with my pinky but this time there were no images popping into my head. In fact, there was a soft sensation on my fingertips. I could 'Feel' her skin.

Then my gaze landed on the face of the child. And there it lay, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. With the tiny lips curling upwards, there was a hint of a smile on the child's face.

An intense gush of warmth and heat surged from my body. I felt 'Happy'. This was sure 'Happiness', right? I questioned myself and my lips too curled upwards into a smile. I stood there smiling and staring blankly at the kid.
