Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 Similar To Mine

"What do you say about us partnering up?" Shung Yun asked as he looked at Hai Yu.

"Why would I want to partner up with you?" Hai Yu asked instead of answering Shung Yun.

"Well, we were both plotted against by someone who doesn't want us to have a good performance. Partnering up will give us more chance to combat against that threat," Shung Yun as he came down from Haru's back.

"Even if partnering up with someone would give me a better chance to defend myself against whoever is targeting me, why would I choose a body tempering realm cultivator as that partner?" Hai Yu asked in a matter that stated a fact.

"Because I'm your only option," Shung Yun said as he squatted in front of Hai Yu's horse, giving Mangro the chance to sneakily coil around his left wrist, "and I might be the only one to get revenge for your horse."

"The individuals that have the ability to plot against my freedom aren't people a kid like you can go against," Hai Yu said to Shung Yun.

"I have Mr. Guchun backing me. I'm sure he owes me one for hanging on in the race despite the efforts to take me out," Shung Yun said as the last rider crossed the finish line, leaving only Hai Yu and his horse behind the finish line.

"And that's it for today's main event," the official said announced as he left the caged arena.

"Guess I have to continue racing until I make it into the top three[3] for hundred[100] consecutives main event races," Hai Yu sighed after hearing the announcement of the official, "I'll think about your proposal, kid."

"I'm glad to hear that, Senior," Shung Yun said with a smile before leaping on Haru's back and leaving the caged arena.

"Not satisfied with the amount of money I've been able to bring to you all, right? I'll make sure you all suffer for what you did today!" Hai Yu swore as he left the caged arena with two[2] lower-stage male youths carrying his horse trailing behind him.

Seeing the look on Mr. Guchun's face as he stared at him, Shung Yun asked, "what is it?"

"I can't believe you were able to hold on after going through all those attacks," Mr. Guchun said as he looked at Shung Yun.

"Not going through with the race means stopping my fun. I couldn't do that," Shung Yun said as he leaped down from Haru's back, "and you were right. This is interesting."

",..," going speechless at Shung Yun's words, Mr. Guchun stared incredulously at him.

"He went through all that because he was having fun?" he thought as he failed to describe how he felt about that, "he's definitely not normal."

"Where do I receive my wins?" ignoring Mr. Guchun's speechlessness, Shung Yun asked him.

Snapping out of his daze, Mr. Guchun said, "come with me."

Arriving in a room with a huge board covered by papers hung on the wall, Shung Yun saw several names and few numbers on the papers.

"Look for the paper having track number six[6] as the heading," Mr. Guchun said as he unpinned a paper having Mr. Guchun as its heading.

"The amount I paid isn't written," Shung Yun said as he held a paper having six[6] as its heading while walking beside Mr. Guchun.

"That's because it will be your code to receive your win," Mr. Guchun said as he and Shung Yun walked towards the direction of three[3] upper-stage middle aged individuals of both genders.

Carrying out the required processes, Shung Yun left the payment room with twenty two[22] duan gold pieces while Mr. Guchun left with one hundred and forty six[146] duan gold pieces.

"Here's your share," Mr. Guchun said as he passed sixty[60] duan gold pieces to Shung Yun, "it's nice doing business with you."

"Thanks," Shung Yun said as he kept the sixty[60] duan gold pieces in the pouch hung on the left side of his waist.

"What do you think about carrying on our partnership?" Mr. Guchun asked Shung Yun.

"It will be my pleasure," Shung Yun said as he stopped beside Haru.

"Also mine. Let's leave," Mr. Guchun said as he leaped onto the back of his horse, with Shung Yun doing the same to Haru.

Passing through the underground pathway, Mr. Guchun pulled down the mechanism at the wall beside the first step of the stairs, opening the metallic entrance above him.

"Amazing," Shung Yun uttered as musically sounds flowed into his ears after crossing through the gate having a horse on each side of it.

"The sounds are so similar to the sounds of a piano," he thought as he rode towards the origin of the sound.

"Your lodge is this way," Mr. Guchun said as he saw Shung Yun crossing to the other side of the road.

"I have to check something," Shung Yun said to Mr. Guchun as he continued forward.

Arriving at the source of the sound, he saw a lower-stage old man sitting cross-legged on a mat on the ground with a wooden guqin on his thighs.

Sounding into Shung Yun's ears, the musical piece played from the guqin distracted him from the loud voices of the siblings in his soul, thereby, reducing the sound of their voices and the severe headache accompanying it.

With time passing by, nine[9] minutes went by before the music came to a stop.

"Other people tend to leave after taking in such sad and depressing sound for more than twenty[20] seconds," the lower-stage old man said as he looked up at Shung Yun, "why did you stay?"

"Because I find your story similar to mine," Shung Yun said as he opened his eyes.

"You're the first among those who could resonate with my piece to actually choose to live through those moments again. All choose to leave after shedding tears for a few dozens of seconds," the lower-stage old man said as he looked at the strings of his guqin, "the past can be both scary and educative. Yet, the fear of remembrance obscures the lesson hidden in it."

Dropping a gold duan pieces into the clay bowl in front of the old man, Shung Yun said, "Senior's words are priceless."

"May the blessings of nature be with you," the lower-stage old man said as he cupped his hands with his head bowed.

"And you too," Shung Yun said before riding towards Mr. Guchun.

"Are you okay?" Mr. Guchun asked with a concerned tone as Shung Yun got close to him.

"I'm fine," Shung Yun answered as Haru faced the same direction as Mr. Guchun's horse.

"Then, let's go," Mr. Guchun said as he began riding towards the overpass with Shung Yun beside him.

"Senior, I have something to ask you," Shung Yun said as he rode beside Mr. Guchun.

"You can go ahead," Mr. Guchun said as he looked at Shung Yun.

"I want to learn the guqin during the period I'm in town. Do you have any idea where I can do that?" Shung Yun asked while looking at Mr. Guchun.

"You must have been impacted by the piece played by the old man sitting opposite the stallion house's gate," Mr. Guchun said as he looked straight ahead, "I know a place where you can learn all about the guqin."

"Where is it?" Shung Yun asked.

"Not so far from my business. I'll take you there tomorrow," Mr. Guchun said.

"Alright," Shung Yun said, "thanks for your help."

Nodding his head, Mr. Guchun quietly rode forward with Shung Yun riding beside him.

Getting to the street containing his rented room and Mr. Guchun's company, Shung Yun said goodnight to Mr. Guchun before riding forward alone until he got to the hotel he rented a room.

Moving into the hotel, he gave Haru to the stable attendant before ordering five[5] kilogram of fried fierce beast's meat to be brought to his room.

After a few minutes, an amazing scent wafted into his room as a lower-stage female youth attendant pushed a cart carrying a huge silver covered plate into his room.

"Here's the payment," passing twenty five[25] duan silver pieces to the female attendant, Shung Yun said before digging into his meat.

"I'll make use of the Silver-Layer pill before I go to bed," he mumbled as he feasted on the hot dish in front of him.
