"What are they talking about for them to be so agitated?" Shung Yun thought as he watched the actions of Mr. Guchun and Tashi without hearing what they're saying or seeing their lips moving.
"Then I wish you good luck," Tashi transmitted her voice into Mr. Guchun's ear through her spiritual Qi as she got up.
"Ladies and gentlemen! The main showdown for today's underground gaming event will begin in the next ten[10] minutes. Any bets to be made should be carried out before the count down time runs out," the official said out loud as he made his announcement.
"Over here," Mr. Guchun said as he waved at one of the silver masked individuals holding a tabulated booklet.
"Open to the group page," he said after the silver masked individual arrived with the tabulated booklet in front of him.
Doing as Mr. Guchun said, the silver masked individual opened to a page having; upper rank position, middle rank position, and lower rank position.
Having a quill appear in his right hand, the silver masked individual passed it to Mr. Guchun.
Taking hold of the quill, Mr. Guchun ticked the upper position column on track 6's row.
"You really believe I can get into the top three[3]?" Shung Yun asked after understanding the betting options on the tabulated booklet.
"I believe your mount and my inscription can get you into the top three[3]," Mr. Guchun said as he stretched forth his hand holding the quill towards the silver masked individual.
"That's a nice way of saying I'm not really necessary in winning a good position in the race," Shung Yun said as he intercepted the quill from reaching the silver masked individual, "I'll be making a bet."
"The minimum amount required to place a bet is one[1] duan gold piece," Mr. Guchun said as he informed Shung Yun before he makes a fool out of himself.
"Then it's a good thing I have a kind uncle," Shung Yun said as he dipped his right hand into his pouch before taking out two[2] duan gold pieces, "open to the first page."
"How close is he to his uncle?" Mr. Guchun thought with an amazed expression on his face.
Looking at the options on the tabulated page, Shung Yun ticked the second column on his row, the track 6's row.
"You're betting on ending the race at second place?" Mr. Guchun was surprised as he looked at Shung Yun.
"It's called a gamble. Maybe, the gods might smile at me," Shung Yun said as he passed the quill to the silver masked individual.
"I hope they do," Mr. Guchun said as he passed a handful of duan gold pieces to the silver masked individual, "it's twenty[20] gold pieces."
Nodding its head, the silver masked individual kept the twenty[20] duan gold pieces in its storage ring before stretching his hand towards Shung Yun.
Understanding what the silver masked individual wants, Shung Yun passed the two[2] duan gold pieces to it.
"You understand what you need to do, right?" Mr. Guchun asked Shung Yun.
"I do," standing up, Shung Yun said as he began walking towards his horse.
"I can't believe Hai Yu will gain his freedom if he ends up in the upper rank position for today's main event," a middle-stage middle aged man said as he looked at a lower-stage male youth with a medallion hung on the left side of his chest and sitting on brown and white horse.
"He has a rich sponsor and an incredible horse as his mount. Yet he can't be said to be the best rider in the underground gaming event in the last two[2] years," the middle-stage middle aged man beside him said as he looked at the flashiest rider in the caged arena, "young master Bokan is, and will always be the fastest rider in the underground gaming event."
"A pity no one can match him or his wild horse," the middle-stage middle aged man praising Hai Yu said as he looked at the luxurious dressed middle-stage male youth.
"Who is that?" middle-stage middle aged man [2] asked as he caught sight of a blue robed middle-stage male teenager riding on a black colored horse.
"I have no idea. I haven't seen him before," middle-stage middle aged man [1] said as he kept his sight on the blue robed male teenager, "his horse, it doesn't look like an ordinary horse."
"You noticed it too," middle-stage middle aged man [2] said with his eyes glued on Haru, "it looks just like young master Bokan's horse."
"It's a wild horse," middle-stage middle aged man [1] uttered as his sight locked on the black colored wild horse.
"A second wild horse just few races after an announcement was made to crown Bokan the greatest racer of the decade at the end of this month. It doesn't seem like a coincidence," an upper-stage male youth surrounded by other youths of both genders said as he sipped from his wine cup.
"That's because it isn't," a middle-stage male youth beside the upper-stage male youth said as he turned more wine into his silver cup, "Mr. Guchun is the one who brought-in the rider."
"The exiled going after the family who exiled him, that's definitely a good revenge plot I would love to see to the end," a second upper-stage male youth said as he looked at the tabulated booklet in front of him.
"One you won't get to see, Byui Junde," the wine sipping upper-stage male youth said as he looked at the purple robed upper-stage male youth.
"One I won't get to see indeed," Byui Junde sighed as he ticked the second column of the fourth row on the tabulated booklet.
"Time is up," the official announced out loud as he stood at the center of the arena, "every bet not made should no longer be carried out."
Saying that, he looked at the nine[9] riders sitting on their horses, "the race consist of only a single lap around the arena. The first racer to ride round the arena and get back to his starting point will be the winner. You all will begin at the explosion of the inscription in my hand."
Nodding their heads in understanding, the racers all adjusted to their optimal riding positions as they waited for the explosion of the inscription in the official's left hand.
"Nice horse," young master Bokan said as he looked at Haru.
"Yours too, senior," Shung Yun said as he looked at Tanji Bokan's horse, "it looks imposing."
"It does," young master Bokan said as he softly brushed the hair of his horse's head, "you should be careful when racing. The track ahead isn't void of danger."
"Thanks for your advice, senior. This junior will be careful when riding," Shung Yun said with a smile on his face.
Three!! Two!! One!! Boom!!
"Hyah!!" Tanji Bokan uttered as he forcefully rocked the halter connected to the face of his horse, prompting it to dash forward as fast it could.
Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! Trot!! [x72]
"Stay a foot behind him, Haru," Shung Yun said as he rocked the halter connected to Haru.
Hearkening to Shung Yun's words, Haru slowed down a little, letting young master Bokan's wild horse go ahead of him.
Whoosh!!
"Wow!" Shung Yun exclaimed as he threw his head backward, dodging the pointy shard fired at him.
Looking at the direction the attack came from, he saw ten[10] holes on the pillar at his right closing up.
"Was he attacked by two[2] shards?" he thought as he looked at the wild horse and it's rider in front of him.
"That shouldn't have happened," Mr. Guchun said as he stood up from his seat, "the attack shouldn't have gone for the rider."
"Seems like Mr. Guchun act of revenge will be end of a kid's life," the upper-stage male youth said as he watched the race in the arena.
"He should make better preparations next time," Byui Junde said as he watched the race while focusing on the rider on track two[2].
"A string," Shung Yun thought as he caught sight of a metallic string that cut across the entire nine[9] tracks in a few inches in front young master Bokan's wild horse.
