"A string," Shung Yun thought as he caught sight of a metallic string that cut across the entire nine[9] tracks in a few inches in front young master Bokan's wild horse.
Thud!!
Landing at the other side of the metallic string, young master Bokan's wild horse continued dashing forward without slowing down.
"It withdrew," Shung Yun said as he cautiously looked at the tracks in front of him.
"Don't look at the ground, kid," Mr. Guchun grew restless as he looked at Shung Yun, "pay attention to yourself."
"It's now or ever, Haru," Shung Yun said to Haru as he tightened his hold on the halter.
"Nothing?" seeing no metallic string obstructing Haru, a surprised expression appeared on his face, "is it meant to attack only the person at the first position?"
!!
"This!" a shocked expression clouded Shung Yun's face as a metallic string appeared a few inches from his neck.
Directing his entire physique Qi towards his neck, he strengthened his neck in anticipation to the inevitable clash with metallic string.
Clang!!
A resounding metallic sound rang out in the arena as Shung Yun laid with his back on Haru's back and his right hand tightly gripping the halter.
"That f*cking hurt," Shung Yun cursed as blood slid out from the left side of his lip with pains coursing through his neck.
"H….he didn't fall off his horse?" the spectators were shocked as they looked at the youngest rider in the arena.
"You got to be kidding me," Shung Yun muttered as he watched the riders behind him crossing the metallic string, "theirs are the same as the senior in front of me."
Raising his upper body up, he softly caress his neck as he said, "this is getting interesting."
"Do you need my service, my king?" a voice sounded in Shung Yun's head as he felt a movement on his left wrist.
"Not today, Mangro," Shung Yun said with his hand still caressing his throat, "I have some money to make."
"You should be careful then, my king. It seems you're being targeted," Mangro said as he communicated telepathically to Shung Yun.
"I hope what they have can distract me from the annoying screams going on in my head," Shung Yun muttered as he rocked the halter in his hand.
"He actually survived that?" young master Bokan looked shocked as he stared at Shung Yun.
"Nyyhh!!" his wild horse neighed as it leaped across the square shaped pike land that appeared suddenly in front of it.
"You shouldn't have agreed to the exiled fool's request, kid," he muttered as he glanced for a few seconds at Shung Yun before focusing on the track in front of him.
Arriving at the area of the hidden square shaped pike land four[4] seconds after young master Bokan's surpassed it, Shung Yun raised his guard as he tightened his hold on the halter and his feet securely hung on the foothold of the saddle.
"Get ready for unexpected surprises, Haru," he said as he waited for the unveiling of the pike land.
"I'm sure it was around here his horse leaped," he thought as his unease brought an amount of excitement coursing through him.
"Shit!" Haru cursed as he suddenly leaped forward as fast as he could.
Purcch!! [7x]
"Nhyyh!" he shrieked in pain as seven[7] pikes from the square shaped pike land that appeared right under him tore into the lower parts of his four[4] limbs and drawing blood in the process.
"Embrace the pain, Haru," Shung Yun said as he softly caressed the left side of Haru's neck, "without your pain, I will gain nothing."
Strengthening his will, Haru endured the pain coursing through his limbs as he dashed forward with more speed than he did before.
"Don't forget, Haru. Stay a few feet from the senior in front of us," Shung Yun said to Haru.
"Impossible!" young master Bokan exclaimed in shock as he looked behind him at the lad and his wild horse, "not even Bilon could escape from the pike land and still continue forward!"
"This is getting interest," Byui Junde said as he watched the race.
"The kid and his wild horse really have tenacious wills," the wine sipping upper-stage male youth said as he kept his wine cup on the decorated wooden table in front of him.
"Just hold on, kid. You're almost done," Mr. Guchun said as he stood a few feet from the caged arena.
"I can't believe you brought him here to challenge Bokan, Guchun," Tashi said as she arrived beside Mr. Guchun.
"I brought him here as my business partner, not to challenge someone from the younger generation of the Tanji family," Mr. Guchun said with his eyes still on Shung Yun.
"You shouldn't have let him join the main event then," Tashi said.
"The essence of business is the money made at the end of it. The main event has the highest stakes and odds," Mr. Guchun said as he looked at the cousin of the love of his life.
"We're almost getting to the last one hundred[100] meters of the race," Shung Yun calculated as he looked at the length of the tracks remaining in front of him.
"Wow!" Shung Yun was amazed as he watched the speed at which the wild horse in front of him moved after getting into the last one hundred[100] meters of the race., "that must be the work of an inscription."
"I wonder how fast you'll go, Haru," he said as he took out the yellow colored paper containing the speed inscription and the spiritual Qi stone, "let's see how you both work."
Whoosh!!
Hearing the sound of wind getting close to him, Shung Yun turned his head to see what was generating it.
"You shouldn't have done that," he said as he saw how fast the rider behind him was catching up to him, "stop him a few feet from the finishing line, Mangro."
"With pleasure, my king," Mangro said as he uncoiled himself from Shung Yun's left wrist before bolting towards the approaching super-fast brown and white colored horse.
"Seems like Hai Yu might retain his second position," a middle-stage female youth said as she sipped from the tea cup in her right hand.
"A pity then," another middle-stage female youth beside the initial said as she watched Hai Yu surpassing Shung Yun, "the junior brother gave his all to remain in the race despite the odds staked against him."
"Come on, kid. Use the inscription," Mr. Guchun muttered anxiously as he watched the race.
Whoosh!!
"Wow!!" Shung Yun shouted excitedly as the wind wiped across his face due to the speed of Haru after making use of the inscription.
"This is so fun!" he shouted as he threw his head backward with his tongue springing out of his mouth.
"Haha! I guess you're having fun, kid. A pity you won't be taking the second position. You would've had more fu….," coming to a stop in the middle of his words, Mr. Guchun stared in shock as Hai Yu's horse suddenly fell on the left side of its stomach while just two[2] feet away from the finish line.
"W..what the hell happened?" with confusion scattered across his face, he muttered with his eyes glued on the collapsed horse.
"What's happening to Hai Yu!? Why did his horse suddenly fall when he's so close to crossing the finish line?" spectators wondered as they watched the confused situation in the caged arena.
"Get the f*ck up, you bitch! I bet a lot on money on your freedom!!" a lower-stage middle aged man shouted as he shot up to his feet.
"Get up, you stupid horse!" Hai Yu shouted as he tried lifting his horse up.
Whoosh!!
Crossing the finish line, Haru slowed down before turning towards the direction of Hai Yu.
"What do you say about us partnering up?" Shung Yun asked as he looked at Hai Yu.
"Why would I want to partner up with you?" Hai Yu asked instead of answering Shung Yun.
