"Male entertainer?" Alec's cold gaze dropped to Lauren, the way his eyebrow raised demanded her answer.
"He is a musician," Lauren put it in a nicer way because the way he spoke the words was like he was spitting some filth. It wasn't new how most people looked down on those who worked in brothels but David was a decent man.
"A musician in a brothel is a male entertainer, dear wife." How he called her 'dear wife' didn't sound sweet to both women's ears, rather it sounded like a threat.
"He is a friend," Lauren said, noticing the malicious glint in Alec's eyes. "He doesn't do a living by selling his body. He plays music," she clarified because with the look he was giving her, she knew he was quick to judge their relationship.
