Alec took off his black gloves and threw them on Lauren's lap.
"Wear that."
"How charitable you are, dear husband," she smirked at him and wore the gloves. She had always found the cold uncomfortable and it didn't help how Evardin's rainy days were colder compared to other lands.
When they returned to the mansion that evening, Lauren remembered the maid who died.
"Wait," she stopped Alec before he could go upstairs.
"That maid you tasked to send food to the deranged man, don't you think there is something odd with her death?"
"She was attacked by the deranged human because she must have gone too close when she went to his cell. What about it?" Alec asked with a bland tone, showing no interest in the topic.
