Chereads / In My Two Worlds / Chapter 2 - Beach

Chapter 2 - Beach

My phone access to internet for some reason but this was perfect. I have to use it perfectly and gain an employment in some decent enough city that isn't monster infected.

Beach was perfect for now since I wouldn't have to worry about food. I can just catch fish even though it might not be for the best. I have really bad issue with textures. Fishes have never once failed to make me throw up but I have to just endure it for time being.

It was roughly half an hour away from my current location but I managed to make it there and started to look for some shelter for the night. After a while, I came across a shed but a bunch of men were guarding it. My intuition was asking me to avoid the place altogether. I hid behind a tree and used camera to zoom in to the shed and saw a bunch of women and children tied up. What should I do...? I can't possibly fight so many men so I have to divide them up somehow. Or... I can just leave. Nah. My conscience won't let me do that.

I started to set up a trap. It would be a rope tied between two trees and rock at roughly 6 feet away from the rope so when they fall, they burst their heads open. It would've been too brutal but considering the situation, I have to take drastic action too. I can't see them being good guys whatsoever. I played a porn on my phone to get attention and two men came up to check. I ruffled the tree prompting them to run towards the tree and they tripped and fell onto rock face first as expected. I tied up their mouths before tying up their hands and legs. I got their knives and walked slightly closer to the shed.

I have to somehow get the rest but how...? OH! I ran back to where the two tied up men were and started setting up another trap that would set off once they step on it.

"If you care about yourself, tell me what you guys are doing with those women?" I asked.

"W-We are holding them hostages in case- In case... In case, monsters attack. They're decoys!"

"And... that won't be all. What else?" I continued with interrogation.

"We also use for relieving stress. They're comfort women and girls."

I wonder who the real monster is in current situation... those mindless goblins or these humans with intellectual capabilities to know what is right and what is wrong. This is not some nuanced situation. Raping women is wrong. No matter the circumstances.

I tied up a bunch of sharp sticks and climbed up one of the tree and tied one end of the rope and then jumped down and climbed the next tree and called out for help. A man came running.

Perfect.

I used all the might I could to push the bundle of sticks and it pierced into the guy's chest but he couldn't exactly scream for help as you see... lungs too are in chest. I climbed down and pushed him away. Now time for the rest. I walked closer to the shed and peeked inside. There was only one man inside, so, he might be the leader. I should use my pepper spray. I always kept a few self defense on me given my status. I pulled out the small bottle size of my finger and walked over to the front and spray two men and hit them with rocks. It was much better than stabbing them. Feeling a sharp object piercing through someone's flesh and the resistance provided by the flesh weren't exactly nice feelings. The screaming of those men made the supposed boss leave the shed and come out to check up on them but I was hiding right behind the entrance. The moment he exited the shed, I stabbed him and pulled out the knife. When being stabbed by something, the worst you can do is pull out the item. It would cause further issues like extra tears in muscles and tendons and extra blood lose. It was advised against.

As the leader was laying on ground wailing and screaming in agony, I entered the shed and untied all the people and asked them to tie up remaining men and do whatever they want. For me, I want to rest now and plan out tomorrow. I walked up to one of the corners of the shed and sat down. I took out my phone and started reading through the map wondering where to go next. If I move along the coastline, after roughly 250 kilometers away starts new nation. By foot, that would take me roughly two weeks to get there. But maybe if I push myself enough every day, I can manage it in a week. I cover roughly 5 kilometers per hour and if I walk for 5-6 hours, I can cover anywhere from 20-30 kilometers per day. I just have to focus on it. I can't let myself be distracted by others' issues. I saved these people but this should be the last time I put myself in danger for others.

A woman approached me. She was incredibly pretty. Her rose-pink hair complimented her jade color eyes pretty well. She seemed like a noble considering I was in medieval era.

"Thank you for saving us." She spoke.

I just nodded and looked away. I should not mingle too much with them.

"So, are you planning on staying here or going somewhere?" She asked.

I want to be left alone.

"Going to neighboring nation." I responded. I can't be rude to anyone I don't know personally.

"I see. Would you mind if I join? OH! I haven't introduced myself. I'm Keshi Von Mcgaurd. I'm from a duke's family. Or well... was... considering there is no aristocracy in this nation."

"I'm Kara." I responded. I don't exactly care who she is. I don't even want to talk to her.

"So... a commoner?" She asked.

"Mhm." I answered. I don't think I can tell her the truth... nor do I care.

"Not much a talker?" She sat next to me. I moved away slightly. I would prefer not being too close to her.

"I'm busy." I answered and leaned against the wall.

"Women and kids here are scared of you but they think it is rude since you saved them. Me being the highest authority, I think I have to try to put their mind at ease." She said.

"I understand. Tell them to just stay away from me and do whatever. I'm here to just sleep and I will leave tomorrow morning. I met a pair of siblings in the town. I think there are some survivors stuck there. You can go help them if you want."

"You are not going to help?" She asked.

"No. I have no intentions of mingling with people. Only reason I even bothered to save you was a happenstance. I'm not going out of my way to save people."

"Rude, much? Fine." She stood up. "At least you're not evil like those men. I'll let them know of your intentions and see how they react." She smiled at me.

DAMN is she pretty... But no. Humans can't be trusted.

She talked to the women and then she came back with two more women. I hate being here.

"Thank you for your service, Kara." One of them spoke. She had brown hair and light brown eyes. Her body had some scars telling me that she might be some sort of soldier.

"I, Historia Von Hugh, would like to extend my appreciation too." She had blonde hair and blue eyes. She was pretty too. Maybe because they were nobility but well... who cares.

"Yeah...Yeah..." I answered.

"Huh? Isn't that a bit rude? We are trying to show gratitude as the highest authorities. You're a commoner from Scofinia, right? You should be happy." Historia said in a bit of an irritated tone.

"No. I'm not from whatever kingdom this is. To me, you're just another woman." I answered.

"This is totally unacceptable!" The other girl cried out.

I just want to be left alone...

"Please leave me alone." I finally spoke and turned away from them. I have to find a way to cook fish so I could eat something the following week.

The two girls left me alone finally.

"Is something wrong? I mean you saved us so this is the least I can do." Keshi spoke.

"Hm? I want nothing. There is nothing wrong. I just want to be left alone to myself. I've already said I don't want to interact with people. If you keep pushing despite the fact then, me to reacting negatively is given, isn't it?"

"As you say. It is out of the ordinary for us nobility to be treated like this. You don't seem to hold us in high regards."

"Relying on your parents' or your ancestors' achievements for self-worth and then demanding respect is disgusting. What did they do? What was the use of their status exactly? I have no time to spare for those who think highly of themselves just because they were born into an esteemed family." I answered.

"Is that your opinion? I think to an outsider it may seem to be the case and I can't argue. We in fact didn't do anything to save the people."

"Yup. Now I'm going to sleep. Night." I laid on floor and closed my eyes. "If any of you act up, I have even worse weapons on me." I warned Keshi before relaxing.

The night passed without any incident. I woke up the next day and left the shed. Time to leave. I yawned and checked the phone. It was 7 in the morning. If I walk for long enough, I should be able to cover a lot of distance.

"Leaving?" Keshi asked.

"Yup. As I said. I want to go to kingdom of Deem. I'll find some work there and live a normal life."

"I see." She handed me a badge. "This will show that you're trusted associate of Mcguard family."

"Thanks." I took the badge and went on my way to Empire of Deem. In about 10 days, I'll change my life for the better. I'm looking forward to it.
