TW// Blood, death
He would've carried him if he could, but knowing that his arm was numb from the pain, it was useless. They needed to get away. They needed to get far away from the witch. It was the only way they would make it out alive. The war was over, still they needed to flee.
They ran down the steep terrain into the forest, trying to avoid every branch and roots on the ground. Every inch of Elias hurt. His body twisted in pain with every move he made, increasing every time he stumbled into a root and every time a branch scratched his face and already bleeding arm. They just needed to get far away.
"Elias."
He could barely hear Tivon through the sound of his heart beating uncontrollably.
"Elias, s-stop."
No, Tivon, we can't stop. She'll get to us if we stop running. Elias clenched his teeth, squeezed his hand tighter and ran faster. If they stopped running there wouldn't be a future for the both of them. The forest opened up into a clearing – dense forest surrounding a glade with the first spring flowers scattered across it, the warm sun shining through the opening.
"E-Elias, please-"
Tivon fell down on the grass. Elias turned to him still holding his hand.
"Tivon, we need to go further." He was running out of breath. "We are in the clearing. She will see us."
Tivon was clutching his side, blood dripping down his face. "Elias, I c-can't."
Elias fell on his knees. "Just a bit further Tivon. Just a bit further in the forest. And then we can rest."
Tivon shook his head, tears mixed with blood falling down his face. Elias cupped his face with his shaking hands. "Please Tivon, just a bit further and we can rest." He leaned his forehead to his and cried. "Just a bit f-further."
"I c-can't."
Tivon removed his hand, that was holding his side. It came off bloodied, the wound at his side, deep, blood still pouring out of it. Elias could only stare, energy slipping away from him. Tivon placed his hand on Elias' chin and pulling it up to face him.
Tivon smiled. "We w-weren't meant for this w-world."
Tears flooded Elias as he pulled him into a kiss. "Don't say that." He said, lips still brushing against his. "You've said it yourself. We can still try. W-we just need to make it out of this clearing."
He wanted to stand up and took Tivon in his arms and run, but even his own legs couldn't hold him up anymore.
"Elias." He looked up. Tivon was so beautiful, surrounded by flowers, the sun shining down on him. Despite everything he was still smiling. That warm, precious smile. Tivon pulled him closer and whispered. "Everything is going to be okay."
"Don't say that. It feels like your-"
"Shhh." Tivon brushed a strand of hair behind Elias' ear. "Don't think of it like this."
"Tivon I-I-" His eyes darted around – to Tivon's wound, to his wounds, to the flowers growing around them. Light blue Hyssopy flowers and deep blue Cobily flowers. His eyes finally met Tivon's. "I love you."
Tivon smiled through the tears and pulled Elias closer to kiss him. "I love you even more." He whispered before he pressed his lips to his. Elias closed his eyes. It was like the first kiss they had kissed. Tivon's lips were warm and smooth. He placed a hand round his neck and pulled him closer, deeper into the kiss. He wished this could last forever. Elias brushed his nose to his.
"I love you Tivon, from the first day I saw you." He took his hand and pressed a kiss to it. "With every day I loved you more and more. I love you more than anything Tiv." He looked up into his dazzling eyes. "I will love you forever-"
Pain sprawled through his heart, making it feel like his whole chest froze. He looked at Tivon, his eyes narrowing, panic seizing, twisting his face. He shouted something, but all Elias could hear was a motion of blurry sounds and voices. His body became light, and he couldn't feel Tivon's hands on him anymore. They felt light like snowflakes. Tears fell from Tivon's eyes as he screamed, but Elias couldn't feel the warmth of them on his skin. His body drifted backwards, falling down on a soft bed of flower.
The last thing he saw was Tivon's face.
He had so much more to live with him.
He had so many more things to tell him.
The last thing, Elias remembered seeing, was Tivon's bright eyes.
Elias was happy to die with the thought of Tivon's eyes in his mind.
He always loved his eyes.
