'Stop! She's a stranger,' said the angel conscience in my head as I slowly moved my hand to reach the open palm waiting in front of me. 'So what? This is the easy path,' the bad devil contradicted the little angel in my head.
Hearing my own complicated thoughts turning to chaos, it made me realise an important matter. The little angel in my head has a point, I couldn't possibly trust and make a deal with a stranger, right?
Furthermore, this woman might turn out to be another character in the novel. Although I recognized the protagonist at a glance earlier, I still don't know what the other characters look like in reality.
Well, it was still because the author mentioned in the novel that the protagonist has three distinct moles on her face, so I knew that the person who suddenly approached me was the protagonist.
These three moles were repeatedly described in the novel, so I knew at first sight that the person who suddenly approached me was the protagonist. Especially when she introduced herself as Kendra Salamanca. It was the same name the protagonist had.
Be that as it may, the novel is concentrated on the protagonist's life, so I have no information on what everyone looks like in the novel. After all, the book would only describe a character in the story if it had an important role to play. Additionally, I'm not good at memorization, so I can't possibly remember every little detail in the novel.
Which is why I decided to postpone the deal to get to know the inspector lady before me. If it turns out; that the inspector lady was indeed one of the characters in the novel, then I will have to reconsider another option to enter this academy, because I honestly don't want to get involved with anyone that has a role to play in that damn book.
With a solemn face, I stretched my lips to an awkward smile, staring with apprehension at the inspector lady who was giving me a devilish grin.
"What's the matter?" The inspector lady asked.
"Nothing, It's just that I still don't know your name so…" I said, giving her a sheepish grin as I retracted my hand.
The inspector lady mouthed an O as she nodded understandably.
"Right, I forgot to introduce myself, well lass, my first name is Alexandra which means protector, and my surname Cassidy means curly hair and from what you can see," the inspector lady paused.
She twirled her long red curly hair with her fingers as she continued, "I have curly hair which I inherited from my father…"
The inspector lady paused for a while, looking outside the window in a trance, and with a deep sigh, she went and sat on the wooden chair near the table.
After that, the inspector lady glanced at me, and in a reminiscing tone, she continued. "My father named me Alexandra because he wanted me to become a knight, but I strayed on that path and instead became a magic research scientist," she said with a slight tone of sadness.
However, her sadness didn't last long as she quickly smiled at me and said, "well if there's anything else you want to know about magic, just ask me, I'd gladly answer you with the best of my ability, especially if it's about dark attribute," the inspector lady said, winking at me.
I didn't listen much to everything that the inspector lady ranted about; only listening to the first half of what she said, trying to recall any characters in the novel with the name Alexandra Cassidy. I repeated her name several times in my head, but I can't seem to remember anyone named Alexandra Cassidy in the book.
Since this woman isn't a character in the novel, then there is no harm associating myself with her. So I turned and went in front of Alexandra with a resolutely determined mind.
When Alexandra saw me approaching her, her lips raised giving me her usual devil's grin then she opened her mouth and said, "so have you finally decided?"
'Have I decided, you ask?' I thought mischievously in my heart. My lips slightly raised into a mischievous smirk, but it soon disappeared in a blink of an eye.
Deep inside, I know in my heart that I have already decided the moment I step inside this academy. Remember what I said when I entered this campus?
I said that no matter what, I'll enter this academy. Even if it means negotiating with a shady inspector, I'll do it. I will gladly carry that out. This is all for the sake of my hermit life in a faraway forest.
After arriving in front of Alexandra, I plastered a formal smile as I offered my hand in front of the inspector lady. "I look forward to working with you, miss Alexandra Cassidy," I said, shaking her hand.
"Lass, just call me Professor AC," Alexandra said as she shook my hand back.
Right after that, Alexandra's expression became sincere. "Well, congratulations and welcome to Mystic Academy, however…"
Alexandra released my hand as she took a rectangular crystal inside her satchel bag, and then she stared at me with twinkling eyes and said, "I still want to test your physical constitution and combat skill."
"Eh?" I said as I stared at her with a dumbfounded look.
'Did I just get scammed?'
Probably seeing the flabbergasted expression on my face; Alexandra stood up at her 5 feet 7 inch tall height; she raised her head, looking up to me since I'm 2 inches tall than her.
Afterwards, Alexandra grabbed my shoulder as she explained, "don't worry, you're already my guinea…ahem, I mean my personal assistant, but we still can't skip the procedures for formality's sake, agree?"
I stared at the enthusiastic face of Alexandra, thinking that there should be no harm in cooperating. After all, it is for formality's sake.
So I nodded my head nonchalantly as I generously replied, "I see, well then be my guest professor."
"So…do you know any kind of combat skills?" Alexandra inquired with an evil grin.
Seeing the familiar evil grin on Alexandra's face, it brought an ominous feeling in my heart. I smiled awkwardly, feeling uncomfortable again. "Professor AC, to be honest with you, I actually don't know any combat skills, so could we skip this?" I said.
"Skip? No, no, no, I'm afraid not," Alexandra replied, shaking her head in rejection.
After that, I watched the red haired woman saunter to the side of the room, taking two wooden swords. Alexandra turned around and threw the other wooden sword at me, which I clumsily caught with both of my hands, but it still fell on the ground regardless of my lame attempt to catch it.
I let out a silent sigh as I lowered my head, picking the wooden sword on the floor in a lazy manner, but when I looked forward again, Alexandra suddenly vanished from my sight.
Puzzled, I quickly turned to the side and saw no signs of Alexandra. I rotated behind me, and to the side again, but the red haired woman was nowhere to be found.
My brows furrowed, feeling bewildered. 'Where did she go?'
"I'm up here!"
I looked up and saw the silhouette of Alexandra's figure. My eyes widened as I saw her holding her sword attempting to strike at me.
Adrenaline rushes in my veins as I instinctively cover myself with the wooden sword I'm holding. I felt a strong impact as Alexandra's wooden sword clashes with mine.
Clang!
A loud sound was made reverberating inside the brick wall room. My knees felt weak as it kept shaking under the strong force of Alexandra's unrelenting push.
Clenching my jaw, I kept a firm grip on the handle of the wooden sword as I tried to hold my ground.
After a long while of her pushing and me keeping myself together. I found myself being cornered at the edge of the room. I felt the cold brick wall at my back as Alexandra pushed her wooden sword to mine even more.
"Lass, you're cornered," Alexandra stated, grinning evilly.
Even though I know that this is only for formality's sake, I couldn't help but take this seriously. I took a deep breath. With the last remaining energy in my body, I used the wall behind me as a foothold, kicking my foot against the brick wall. I rush with the wooden sword, pushing Alexandra's sword away from me.
However, this wicked professor suddenly avoided my forceful push as she took her wooden sword back; her body dodging to the side with an evil grin in her face.
The balance became uneven, and I ended up planking with my chin hitting the ground. I grimaced as I felt a tingling pain in my chin.
"Not bad," Alexandra commented as she squatted beside me.
I looked up and saw that Alexandra was marking something on the paper again. "I hope you're writing something good about me in that paper," I muttered in a whining voice.
"Stand up so we can quickly wrap this up," Alexandra said, ignoring my complaints, walking back to the table where the mana crystals were located.
Taking a deep breath, I stood up and followed obediently.
"Place your palm on the mana crystal," Alexandra said, pointing at the rectangular crystal next to the round crystal.
With an obedient nod, I moved my hands towards the rectangular crystal; it's as clear and as transparent as the round mana crystal earlier.
When I placed my palm on top of the rectangular mana crystal, it also glowed brightly, displaying a bright golden colour.
Not knowing what it means, I turn to look at Alexandra inquiringly. "Professor, what was the result?" I said curiously like a child that wanted to learn.
Alexandra, who was busy scribbling on the paper, glanced at me and smiled like a proud parent. "Well, congratulations again lass, since your physical constitution test showed a bright golden colour," she said.
Seeing the smile on Alexandra's face, I also became a little excited. It's just that I don't know what this golden colour means, so I don't know what she was congratulating me for.
My heart jumped excitedly as I looked at the mana crystal that has now returned to its transparent form. "So what does gold mean?" I asked expectantly.
Alexandra's joyous smile disappeared as she stared at me dumbfoundedly. "Seriously?"
I blink my eyes as I nod in a serious face. "Yeah…I mean, yes."
Alexandra shakes her head with a helpless smile. "Gold means that you're going to differentiate to either an A or S level alpha in the near future, you're really blessed and lucky, aren't you lass? Ahahahaha, but I feel like I'm the one who hit the jackpot today, ahahaha," Alexandra said, lightly tapping my back laughing happily to herself.
The excited smile on my face became stiff.
'Alpha?'
Skeptical about the result of my physical constitution test, I frowned, creasing my brows as the sprout of doubt spread further in my heart.
As if sensing my mood, Alexandra immediately stopped laughing and said, "what's wrong? Do you not like the result?"
"Are you sure about the result professor?" I asked as I turned my head to the side, probing Alexandra's expression.
"Of course, lass. Gold means that the person who laid their palm on the mana crystal will differentiate into a powerful alpha, well, if it only glowed dim yellow then it means you're only going to be differentiated to a low-level type of alpha, but clearly, the mana crystal displayed a bright golden colour, so it could only mean that you're going to be a powerful alpha in the near future," Alexandra explained.
Hearing Alexandra's response to my question, I became lost in thoughts. According to what originally happened in the novel, the villain edifferentiated to an S-Level omega, and so when I suddenly got transmigrated in this body, I thought everything will happen according to what happened in the book, but it looks like the moment I transmigrated in this body…some things started to change.
This should be favourable for me since the Urduja clan wanted Nasrin to become an alpha, but what about me? If I were really Nasrin, I would be happy about this news, but…I'm not the real Nasrin Urduja.
I'm just someone, who suddenly woke up one day and found herself inside the body of the villain.
'Don't I even get a choice here?'
My brows wrinkled in distress as I glanced at Alexandra to look for answers. "What about omega?" I said in a solemn voice.
"Well, a powerful omega will show a silver colour, and if it's a low-level type omega, it should display grey, wait do you prefer to become an omega? Is that why you don't look so happy?"
I didn't answer as I felt my heart loudly pounding in my chest. It seems that I would really differentiate into an alpha. I don't know whether I should be happy or not. This should be a happy thing for the original soul, but I no longer know what the future would look like.
Not to mention that I don't even want to become an alpha in the first place. It's the least second-gender I want to become. After all, I would also start growing a male reproductive organ in my body. And as a woman, I absolutely dislike it!
Anyway, will I still get that tragic end? What will happen now in the future?
