The Ac is still broken. The Cleaning service that was in charge of fixing it said they're going to be delayed for a few days. It's been a few days since then and no one hasn't contacted him ever since. And making it worse is his fan is broken and he doesn't really know how to fix one of these. He just asks his Dad to do it whenever possible. But, they're on a 'business' trip with his mom and sister, leaving his ass alone in the melted summertime. 'Stupid Summer heat.' He thought.
Groaning with frustration that everything didn't go his way, he stands up and opens his curtains to feel the summer breeze but instead of having that 'breeze', he met more of his worst enemy. The Heat itself. "Arrrghhhh," He groaned once more as he ruffled his brown hair that was also in the way of cooling him over. The Birds outside of his windows with the intent of ruining his day chirped like they always did in summertime. 'I just want some breeze, I hate summer' He thought once more.
Defeated by everything not going his way, he lurks around to the kitchen making his way to the refrigerator to cool off. Once there he met the breeze he was wanting ever since this wave came while taking the leftover ice cream his sister left. Wouldn't hurt her if he just eat this. Taking and scooped it with the frozen spoon still dangling like there was no tomorrow. While sitting on the refrigerator, the thought of him going out to the beach might be a good idea. 'Could be a good idea. But I might be caught by those bay watchers because I look too young to be out there. Maybe at sunset or at night.' he thought. The doorbell rang all over the kitchen, startling him and immediately going to the source of the noise.
"Yoohoo!! Clay!" He knew the woman as he heard the keys rambling in the doorway as it opened. "Deary, what happened here?" as she looked at the front door and put her purse down and umbrella in the cabinets near the front door. It confused him as to why she was there, taking big scoops of his sister's ice cream as he asked, "What are you doing here, auntie?" she took a little more than a second to take everything she's been carrying inside as she said, "Well I'm your babysitter since your parents are going to be gone for a while," rummaging through her purse as she continues. "Your parents called me a few days late."
He looks confused, "There's no baby here,"
Her auntie looked at him with ease. "It's you silly," as she booped his nose.
"But, I'm a teenager,"
Her auntie indulges her antics. "Well a Teen-sitter then," as she glanced over her little nephew. "And get some T-shirts! You're still in your boxers for Christ's sake,"
"But It's Summer," Clay said.
"I know, honey. But, you still need to put on some t-shirt," Taking something on one of her suitcases. "Here," as she pulled out a big white t-shirt that has a beach logo in the middle. "I'm not wearing that," He demanded. "And I'm in charge here," as she took his ice cream in his hand placing it into the racks of her purses. and forcefully put the t-shirt into him. "There, much more decent." He looked like an oversized potato just by wearing this. "I don't like it," he said. As the door creaked, her auntie nearly closed it.
"Well, if you're not going to wear your clothes, at least put that on." She demanded. Clay gave himself up to the hands of his auntie and slumped over the cabinets. Still having that summer heat creeping into his skin while the light in front of the door was still flashing in his eyes, trying to cover its intense sunlight. "Is the guy fixing the AC gonna come?" finishing with the door and taking the ice cream from near the cabinets where his aunt had placed it. Eating it with a still dripping Ice cream that melted from the heat. He should really eat this fast before it dissolves. "They'll be here soon, honey. They said there were just too many people who were asking for their service. I hope they can be here earlier though." As his auntie swooped the entire bags she was holding, heading to the kitchen he was in. Clay was still oblivious of what he did to the kitchen. Nearly startling him as his aunt shouted across the room. "Clay! You left the Refrigerator open!" That's what he forgot he pondered. As he heard clatters of utensils being rummaged through. Probably his auntie is trying to clean his mess while Clay contemplates whether or not he should go to the beach with or without his aunt's permission.
Out of the blue, he actually goes and asks, "Auntie, can I go to the beach?" The rumbling stopped. His aunt shouted across the kitchen to the living room. "Dear it's too hot outside! But if you want to I can apply you some sunscreen before you go to the beach," Her auntie suggests. But it was too embarrassing to ask someone, let alone his aunt. To apply sunscreen to his body. He doesn't like being touched all that much, it was his greatest fear. "I-It's alright auntie!" He stuttered. He knows that no one can stop his aunt from doing so as he heard the thundering footsteps of his impending doom. He rushed outside, putting on his slippers and the dripping ice cream and spoon in his hand while he shouted to his aunt, running to the beach. "I'll be back later auntie!!" his aunt shouted back, "Dear! You're gonna get sunburnt!" Clay couldn't care less about sunburnt, as long as he didn't get touched by another person, it was fine for him.
Running through the streets where the shades of the trees were his only salvation not to be melted by this summertime weather. The Beach isn't as far as he thought it was. So running with all he can try to save his melting ice cream is the only thing he can do for now. A few minutes pass by and he was already panting, just walked near the trees on the road covering the sunlight that still aches his skin. His aunt was right, he needed sunscreen so badly. But now he's outside and doesn't care about most of what he could've done. Still, I could've really gotten a bottle of sunscreen from the living room. He pondered.
Still scooping the melting ice cream he's holding. He thought of the days he'd spent on the beach whenever he felt alone, sad, or just want to see the sunset go down. It was bliss whenever he was on the beach. A breeze from reality he was in since moving into a new area was new still to him. And moving to a city where you can just sit back and watch people do their own thing and just being happy, makes him happy sometimes. He didn't have any friends back in the province because he was too much of a stay-at-home kind of kid. Though the thought of his hometown still lingers, not as much. It felt like it wasn't really a big deal to him ever since they moved in.
Still musing about those old times, he noticed something under his skin. Like a breeze from the heat that he'd never felt before. Ever since living here, he knew most of the weather accordingly. And if it's summertime, it wouldn't have any wind. Well, most of the time at least. But, this one was different, something was definitely off about the wind. He looked behind and the other side of the road. It didn't seem to have that many people around. And it was… strange. And the path he was walking would've led him to his destination already. But, it didn't. it led him to a forest he couldn't really recognize nor even in the maps, he saw from those roadmaps he borrowed bought from a tourist guide. When they moved in, he would always remember the roads that led to his home and to the beach. Remembering the pattern like its a puzzle, he would've stumbled upon some rocks he always placed and it was now long gone. It surprised him even more as the road he's into right now was full of trees. A forest-like road that was long enough to see through the distance from where he was standing. It crept him the most as the blow of the chilling wind touched his skin. He turned around from where he was going until the road behind him suddenly began to shape like what he saw. Trees, trees as far as his eye can see. He got nervous, trying to run back to where he came from, and searched the path he was following to get back but to no avail. The path was all forest from here on out. But it wasn't foggy or anything, it was still summer and the heat waves is still there. The breeze was just different from before.
He was nervous. 'What even happened? How can I even get home? Arrghhh!!!' As he ruffled his hair angrily. Stopping as he saw something unexpected. A shadow was walking in the middle of the road. His attention never averted the shadow as it walked, not even aware of his presence as the shadow faded into his sight. Trying to grasp what he saw, he felt something behind while he turned slowly, noticing a hoard of them walking in the middle of the road and on his path. He swiftly hid from the bushes near the forest and ran as quickly as he could. Concealing himself from the unknown shadows that keep popping up. I hate this summer. As he panted, not knowing what to do.
