Chapter 6 - My Father, and his little blob monster

-

He sighed into the phone, picking it up and unknowingly gratified of what She's going to say.

"What is it this time?" his voice adorned annoyance and concern at the same time as he continued, "Did anything happen? You better not be doing-"

"He's fine, dumbass. He's just in your office murmuring about something." He sighed through the phone, relieved that there was nothing wrong. "Then why did you call me? I did tell you to call me if anything happens to him, you know."

"I know I know. Its just that." a pause. "I just miss my blob." He knew her very well enough to know that she was grinning at that comment she just made.

He sighed, "Is something wrong, Peg? I'm pretty sure you're not right in the head right now."

She laughed, "Come on! It was just a tease. Do you really think I called you just because I wanted to say that?

"Yes." he said bluntly.

A momentary silence, then followed a chuckle. "Yeah you caught me,"

"I did tell you to call me whenever something happens right?"

"I just miss my blob little monster, isn't that enough?" teasing him through the phone. In Which he responded with, "Peggy!" ringing through the room of his.

"Alright, alright! Don't worry. Clay's fine and he's just in your office actually. Don't know why."

"He probably just misses our sessions every summer. He's always like that whenever I can't hang out with him." He was reminded of why he needed to get out of their new house to their old one. Knowing that they haven't sold their home in weeks and there was still left to be done in their old house. The pressure of his boss plus his demanding wife had weighted on him for a while. Surprisingly his Daughter is at her college dorm few days ago when they went to their house. She didn't need to see her Parents argue over little things.

Surprisingly, he heard his sister for the first time to be sincere as she said. "I'm really glad I'm babysitting your little monster."

"He's a teen, Peg."

She chuckled, "My god, even you?"

"He likes to be called like that. I can't be bothered honestly."

"Like father like son, Its no wonder. Looks like you, sounds like you, and adventurous like you."

"Great thing he doesn't have his mother's temper like my daughter does,"

"It'll be the end of us if you have a kid that has every trait of his parents and somehow far worse than both of you," She chuckled.

"You sure he's alright?" he asked again, to which she responded; "Apart from when he was missing yesterday. I'd say he's fine."

"Thank you. I have to go now, my boss is gonna kill me," he sighed through the phone.

"...Hey Dummy?"

"What?" with an annoying tone, he replied. "I told you I'm going to be late."

"When we got to that camping trip. What else did you do that day?"

he got confused, "What do you mean? I mean we just did what we were told to and that was it. Didn't think it was important to remember,"

"Really? you don't remember?"

"Yeah. Bit foggy honestly but that was the end of that. Nothing special."

"huh."

"Why did you ask anyway?"

"I remember it quite differently."

"Well-" before he even spoke. A caller rang at his other phone, knowing it was his boss he immediately called him back to work. "I got to go now. I'll call you when I have the time." hanging up.

Before he can even hang out, he heard her say along the lines of "I wish you can still be happy." before being cut off.

Clay had fallen asleep in his father's office immediately after he sat down to the chair. As his auntie walked in and saw a drooling into the desk.

'Its so early in the morning and he's still sleeping.' she thought to herself.

She took a blanket and put it onto him. covering his whole body. She looked at her niece wondering what ever happened to her brother. She pondered, wanting to know what happened to that camping trip. Or just... Something that made sense.

She kissed him on his hair and leaving, saying "Good night dum dum,"
