Chapter 67 - Bigger Sacrifice

*Winter Weir*

Storm 01 sat in a small diner in Zoda. He picked up a glass of water on the floating table in front of him and took a sip from it.

The dark-haired man sets the glass on the table and looked up at the time that appeared as a hologram at the top of the middle of the diner, it was 5:30.

The automatic door to the diner slid open. Storm 01 heard the sound and quickly raised his head, hoping it was the person he had been waiting for. He let out a sigh of relief, it was indeed the person he was waiting for.

Emerald walked up to the table with a small smile dancing on her heart-shaped lips. She wore her famous outfit; a white suit, but without the top. Her previously long black hair had been cut low to just below her ears, she was looking even more beautiful than he last saw her.

"Good morning, Agent Storm 01," she greeted before pulling a chair to sit on.

"Agent Klay. Sorry to call you out this early."

"It's fine. I said to give me a call if you need anything, plus I live nearby and was already up."

Storm 01's brows shoot up. "By 5? You have a mission or something?"

Emerald's smile widened. "I like to think of this as a mission too. I'm terrible at it, so I do it every morning."

"What's that?"

"Cooking," she revealed. "My years are running out and if I don't find a man soon, my mom would force me into marrying some rando."

"G-good for you?" Storm 01 blurted, wondering why the ARCHER agent revealed that information to him.

"So, what is it you want to speak to me about, agent?"

"I can't here, it's confidential," he stated.

"Oh. And I thought I'd order food here." Emerald leaned back. "Well then why don't we head back to my place, then you could tell me over breakfast."

"I don't..." Storm 01 lets his words trail off. "I guess I could use a few bites."

.

"Wow!" The dark-haired man exclaimed. He stood in front of a two-story building. The house had most of its parts made with glass and was built in front of the frozen Winter Ocean. "You live alone here?" He queried.

"Until recently, I lived with my younger sister. She moved back to the Realm to stay with our mom and continue her studies in ColdTech Realm," she revealed.

"Whoa, your family sure have it well," Storm 01 quoted.

"ARCHER pays well."

"Wait, you mean you fly to the Realm every morning to be at ARCHER HQ?"

It was the only explanation, Storm 01 thought. As a kid, he watched documentaries of Department H and a few agencies that were mentioned on the show. He found out that apart from Department H that hovered in space, and the UNDERWOLVES that operates in the Underground, the last agency he recalled to be mentioned was in the Realm. So though not mentioned, he assumed that the other agencies of the Cycle organization should be in the Realm too.

"No, ARCHER headquarters was moved to Zoda a few months ago, so it's just a two hours drive there."

"Ah, makes sense now."

Emerald placed her palm on a security device and the door opened. She walked into the building with the Department H agent following behind her. The interior of the house was just as beautiful as the exterior. It was nothing like the houses Storm 01 lived in as a child with his father.

"You have a very big and beautiful home," he praised.

"Thank you. My mom always scolds me for buying a house like this whenever she comes over. Says I don't need a house this big unless I'm leaving with an angel," Agent Klay laughed at her words. "Hey so, make yourself at home. I'll be making bread toast and some hot chocolate, shouldn't take long.

"What about…"

"Whatever you want to say, have to wait. I have a policy and only get missions after 6 AM," she started. "I asked you to meet me at the diner because I thought I could listen to you while I eat, but you didn't mention that it was a word that can't be said in public. Plus I don't function well without my morning piece so, breakfast first."

The dark-haired man picked his jaw from the ground and sighed loudly. "Fine, I guess it can wait. It's my fault not to mention it anyways."

"Thank you. I'll be back in a few minutes. Your jacket over there," she added before leaving the room.

A few minutes later, Storm 01 and Emerald Klay sat around a table having their breakfast. The latter took the last bite of her bread toast, she then gulped down her cup of hot chocolate before leaning forward. "So what is it you want to say? I'm all ears now."

Storm 01 shook his head and put down the bread toast he was holding. "It's about Miss Havishma."

"What did she do?"

The dark-haired man pulled out his pen-like camera and placed it on the table. He clicked on it and the video he had watched back at Rory's pad began to play. "It's a recording from the bodycam of one Agent 101 of the Electro squad."

The footage was a little blurry but cleared up as the agent came to a stop in front of the captives.

Havishma looked out through the window. She quickly turned to face the agent. "We need to get out of here."

"That's what I've been saying..."

"Shut the fuck up, Scarlett. Just shut it," Havishma yelled at her. She grabbed Joe and pulled him away from the others.

"What about all these people?" Electro 28 probed.

The agent with the bodycam strolled a few steps forward to stand close to the window and close enough to hear what Miss Havishma said.

Havishma looked back at the people. They were all shaking in their seats.

"We can't move all these people through without the group catching up to us. even if we do, we don't even have enough space in our vehicles."

"Are you suggesting..."

"It's the only way out. We take the girl and leave."

She looked into his eyes and he reluctantly nodded. "Take the girl."

Electro 28 grabbed Scarlett and went back the way they came with the rest of the squad members. The bodycam agent stayed back with Havishma. She turned back to face the citizens.

"Are you not taking us out of here," an elderly woman among them queried.

Havishma grimaced. She picked up her helmet and put it on, taking a step back. "I'm sorry."

"Don't leave us here," another one of them cried. They all stood up to rush toward them, but Havishma points her gun at them.

"Stay the fuck back!" She barked.

She turned to the last remaining agent and placed her left hand on his chest, her hand blocked the camera, such that only voices were heard until she took her hand away. "You are a great man Electro 101."

He slightly bows his head. "Considering what I'm about to do, I don't quite think so. But I'd do anything for Winter Weir and Department H Captain," the agent said.

Havishma tapped his shoulder and walked towards the exit but stopped as the agent called her out.

"Rowan," he said. "My name is Rowan Schlavigan, captain."

She couldn't see his face, but the pain and sadness were clear in his voice.

"You shall be remembered right here Agent Schlavigan." Havishma placed her hand on her chest. "Head held high agent."

She turned and walked out. Electro 101 took off his helmet and turned to face the others there. He clicked on the object Havishma placed on his chest and exhaled deeply. "You all just stay calm, you won't even know it happened," he stated.

Emerald eyes widened in shock as she watched the footage. Miss Havishma had given the man a bomb with an explosion range large enough to destroy the entire building. "No," she mumbled.

The agent looked at the device. "Just 40 seconds left…"

"You people are cruel!" An elderly man shouted from amongst the captives. "There are children in here, don't you have any pity?"

"Children? Then I guess they are the best among you all. Young, but they'll be sacrificing everything for this planet…" Before he could complete his words, a young man from the crowd rushed at the agent. He yelled at the top of his voice and speared the agent out through the window.

They both rolled in the air and landed on the ground with a heavy thud. As they hit the ground, a tremendous bang rocked the building as it exploded, sending debris all around that barely missed the agent. The noise echoed in the footage, causing the camera to glitch.

The man that pushed Electro 101 out through the window went down on his knees and let out a scream. The agent with the bodycam managed to rise to his feet and pulled out a small gun. He breathed heavily as he pointed the gun at the man's head. "You moron!"

The recording suddenly went blank the moment the Electro agent pulled the trigger.
