Chapter 36 - Simple times for new prowess

(Third POV)

On the outskirts of Rosenburg, there lied a group. One that had the luck of having a powerful ally in their midst.

A Magician powerful enough to take on several dragons, S rank nonetheless.

After having defeated the infamous assassins group [Tri-Daggers], he continued his streak of accomplishments by slaying a rare and newly discovered mutation of a Snow Drake.

An incident for three more dragons have been confirmed to be completed by Sir Rudeus himself, one of them having caused damage to the city of Rosenburg.

Through the sheer amount blood shed Sir Rudeus had to endure,

It was soon found out after the last incident that Rudeus Greyrat was the progenitor of the [Bright Sky Wave] incidents, as well as having become the new number five of the Seven Great World Powers, replacing the former Great World Power, Death God.

Many names have been added to his name like, Magic Emperor, Silent Mage, or even Dragon Slayer.

Despite the respect from his heroic deed to even use the Demon Eye of Death God, he verbally admitted disliking those nicknames.

But there was only one nickname he would allow as people around him have been inquiring him to take at least one.

In the end, one nickname has been decided upon.

Flourishing Calamity.

With his abilities of high-class Healing Magic that can even be used in plant life and destructive capabilities to destroy entire nations, which it was a nickname certainly fitting for the prowess of the young, still not coming to come of age, Magician.

In the time peace stayed due to the monster population having dwindled, the young man has decided to dedicate himself more to his training as a Magic user.

Many admired him for his efforts to defend his place in the rankings, and many were concerned when they heard that he had taken out the Demon Eye again to regain his previous eye.

In that time, he made orders at the blacksmith and tailoring shop.

Both the Sea Dragon and Black Dragon he has slain would be turned into weapons. The materials for the Black Dragon, however, were too dangerous to work with as their toxic substances were of unknown risk. And as for the Sea Dragon's materials, there were rumors that the order was requested in a most bizarre fashion.

For the tailoring shop, it was one of a newly opened ones that hasn't gained much reputation.

In there it was said that he turned the Materials of the Blizzard Dragon into new clothing.

Many wondered why he didn't go to one of the more high-quality stores that the city had to offer. Some say that the relative of an acquaintance of his is the owner, and others say that it's merely due to Sir Rudeus's curiosity about anything magic related.

In the time his orders were being made, he invested his time mostly in his Magic training.

Occasionally, he would teach the son of the Tailor shop owner how to use magic without the incantation. The results were a proven success.

In the spam of only 8 days, the toddler had managed something that was thought to be the realm of Magic Mastery.

This accomplishment has become another talk of the town and other children equally interested in the art of magic as the first one, have asked him to teach them too.

Many parents have responded to their children to refrain from asking him further, but a handful of mothers had a talk with the first child's mother to hear the three adamant rules Sir Rudeus has set for his teachings.

Rule number 1: only up to intermediate class will be taught.

Rule number 2: you are not allowed to use magic indoors or without the supervision of him.

Rule number 3: do not get arrogant just because you know how to use magic without the chant.

The first two rules seemed plausible and the last one sounding reassuringly reasonable.

Sir Rudeus made it obvious that a violation of even just one of the rules means immediate discontinuation of said training.

And thus, one student has become five. Each new student having managed to gain the ability of chantless Magic except for one.

That is until Sir Rudeus has found a different method to sort of unlock the ability.

A comment from Sir Rudeus says that it involves intensifying the sensitivity of one's mana flow through a point at a person's neck area that connects to the heart pulse.

The method was later used on a fellow member of his party and came out successful too.

This major discovery has then been used on several other Magic users and shown a high success rate.

This has given Sir Rudeus a larger and more considerable amount of respect from those around him.

Three months have passed since the Red Dragon incident and the young Magician put significant effort into his development in training, even developing techniques that no other Magician in the city could explain.

However, disaster has struck yet again.

On the outskirts of Rosenburg where Sir Rudeus had made it his personal training area, him and his party were scattered around the place.

Soldat and Connor were thrown against each other, Anastasia was spun so much that she couldn't stand still, and Kaleb and Ingolt were hanging from trees on opposite sides of the field.

Rudeus as well, was not unharmed. Albeit still standing on his two feet, he was, in the literal sense of the term, smoking.

The only witnesses, the five student kids who have seen it all happen from the beginning from the end.

They were all fascinated, jaws dropped and eyes sparkling with the light of childish curiosity.

Who was the perpetrator of this kind of state? That, for reasons barely explainable, was none other than Rudeus Greyrat.

(Rudeus POV)

"Is everyone okay?"

Although I can already guess the answer that I won't be getting, I'm still asking as my eyes can see nothing but red.

This is certainly a disaster. Ironically, I, the Flourishing Calamity, am the one who caused this.

I still don't get myself for choosing such a name, but when I first heard it, it felt so fitting to me, and so I just accepted it.

And now the latter part is showing itself here.

What started as a sparing match for a new magic technique I developed, has turned into a one sided one sided cartoon fight. I really should have toned down a bit.

"Are you okay, master?"

One of the kids seemed to have come over to me and was about to attempt to heal me.

"It's better if you don't. Just use Water Magic to help me cool down. The others, please check on the rest and use Healing Magic if necessary."

""""Kay~.""""

Such good kids. Two of them even managed to get the hang of chantless Healing Magic despite my lack of knowledge in the medical department.

I can already see a future of them working their way up to King class in their respective types of Magic once their manapool is big enough.

After my somewhat fuming cooldown, I used all the strength I had left to move my stiff arm and put my hand onto my body and heal myself.

It was then that I saw just how crazy I went.

Soldat and Connor were the first to recover while Kaleb and Ingolt had a hard time understanding why I put them on a tree like a Christmas decoration.

And Anastasia had a hard time stopping from spinning around.

"You want to explain what that was?" Soldat asked, eyes filled with perplexity.

"I have no idea." I said in defeat to my own power.

I cracked my back a bit to loosen my body a bit.

"I get the strength and speed, but what was up with you hysterically laughing all the time?" Soldat asked.

Next I cracked my neck by bending it to the left.

"Trust me, I would try to explain it to you if I could, but even I don't know what might've caused this."

Although I could guess what the reason was, telling him now wouldn't be good. Especially since the kids are here and could possibly copy what I just did with enough understanding of it.

"That was so cool."

"He was so fast. As if he were teleporting."

"That's just like master Rudeus."

"I told you all to stop calling me that."

As much as I appreciated their praise for me, they don't seem to realize the fact that I ended up hurting myself internally.

I may have to teach them some more stuff just to ensure their own safety.

"What are we gonna do now?" one of the boys asked.

"That was all for now. You five just go and exhaust your manapool for the next time."

In unison, they were all gone to a loud 'Aw'.

"But we didn't do anything today."

"I already told you guys that today would only be a showcase. I need to go to the blacksmith and tailor. My robe and weapons have been finished."

That may have been a mistake as their attention went back up when I said weapons.

Oh, the dangerous consequences of a child's curiosity. I wonder if they stay fascinated like this after having become full fledged Magicians like I imagined?

... Oh dear Roxy, I think I may have made a terrible mistake. Sorry, world.
