(Rudeus POV)
Through some arguing with my little students, I managed to convince them to leave the lessons for today. And by that, I mean I scared them away with a little game I call 'warlord'.
It involves with me using my magic as if I would fight them in a war. Of course, I would never do that to them, and only use it as a method to scare them from anything too stupid.
But anyway, I went on my way to the tailor shop of Marquis's son, Joan, the father of Verdinant, my first student.
As I stepped into the shop, I came into the place where I left an order for the Blizzard Dragon parts.
Inside the shop were various items adorned with Magic Circle inscriptions for various effects. Of course, none of them have the actual inscriptions on them as these are meant for display.
Most of those Magic Circles are required to be imprinted all over the clothing's inside to bring the wanted effects, but some have an extra layer underneath for the more complex ones.
Some of them had the effects of heat insulation, others individual elemental resistance, a few with stainless effects, and lastly, repairing functions.
All these functions are something you would perhaps find in other materials that could be cheaper and acquired faster, but putting on such Magic Circles on clothing or even armor more suited to a specific profession is a lot easier.
"Excuse me." I said out loud to get the customer service, but no one came despite me detecting someone in here.
"Pardon the intrusion." A feminine voice answered me instead, coming from behind me.
A short woman with hazelnut hair woven into one braid greeted my eyes. She was the mother of Verdinant, my first student in Rosenburg, and the wife of Joan, Luisa.
"Oh, it's you, Sir Rudeus. How are you doing today?"
"Missis Luisa, I am doing well today as well. Furthermore, kindly refrain from addressing me as sir."
She just giggled at me. Seems my desperate attempts to make people stop referring to me as someone important are enough to make me a laughingstock.
"I'm actually here because I've heard from Verdinant that my robe has been finished. Is your husband still here?"
"He should be. Have you called for him?"
"I did, but no one responded to me."
"That's weird he should be..... Oh, no."
After she said that, she immediately went into the backroom. Seconds later, and she didn't come back, so I decided to follow her.
In the back of the room, I saw an unconscious Joan on the ground with an upset Luis standing next to him.
I quickly went over to Joan to check up on him. No injuries, just fatigue… are those black rings under his eye?
"What happened?"
"Don't worry, he is just exhausted."
"Did he get a lot of orders?"
She let out a deep sigh before speaking up.
"More like he put significant effort into your order."
"A-All that for the repairing mechanism? Jeez. His products are not easy."
The repairing mechanism involves the reattachment of holes or cuts. On a designated area of the chest, there should be a Magic Circle for mana input that allows the wearer to fix any minor damages.
It's not instant as the function itself is already complicated as it is, but still better for me to use than buying a whole new robe or stitching the whole together.
"That's not it. He put more than just that."
I looked at her with surprise. What does she mean with, more than that?
"There is also the fitting, stainless, overall Magic resistance, and clothing weight reduction added."
"WHAT?!"
Holy crap. Did he try to create the ultimate robe? Wait, is that why he asked of me to use the whole hide? The amounts of Magic Circles must be insane. And to fit that all in an extra layer? The amount of careful scripting. As a total newbie in that field, that's unbelievably much.
"B-But… why?"
"It's my father-in-law's fault. He said Joan better make sure that the product he is making for his son's savior be of utmost value. I was against it, but my husband was in agreement with his father and did it anyway. Of course, he will pay for it."
Marquis, what the fuck?! Forcing your son to work to death is beyond insane. Poor Joan. I can't imagine the number of hours he had to sacrifice his sleep for just to work on my robe. Working life is a nightmare.
***
After helping Luis get Joan to his bed at home, she presented me with my new robe.
Joan was required to carry the robe to his residence to complete the intricate details of the Magic Circles. The required steps can be very delicate, so he ensured that they were done properly.
And the results can speak for themselves.
This new robe of mine has light gray leather, fur collar and sleeves from some Luster Grizzly pelts I had hanging inside my pocket dimension, a set of buckles at the front, and a few Blizzard Dragon scales for protection at vital spots like my heart.
I thought that the robe I got in Millishion looked too fancy… and I still think so. This one, on the other hand, has a manlier look to it while remaining in the realm of fantasy.
Wearing it, on the other hand, has brought a different problem to it. Not the weight, it's surprisingly light for all the layers, probably due to the weight reduction circle, but rather the circles themselves.
I can… 'feel' them.
My senses are so sharp that I can practically tell how each one is drawn like.
The same thing happened with the King class Barrier Circle I was trapped in. Just sitting on it and I could tell some kind of flow on the ground. But my senses have become even sharper since then.
Anyway, now with my brand-new robe on me, I headed for the blacksmith I put my order for the Sea Dragon parts.
As I was heading there, I saw Sara heading in the same direction as me. Her order must've gotten ready too.
"Morning, Sara."
"Hm? Oh, Rudeus."
She, just like me, had an order done by the same blacksmith.
After the incident, I got my share of the two dragon corpses. Just like the Blizzard Dragon, I got the biggest share of all.
However, there were mostly only parts that I have damaged to a certain degree too much.
My breath attack on the Sea Dragon's main body burned off anything integral to find use in.
No one dared to get anything from the Black Dragon after hearing in more details of how potent the poison can be.
Mostly just the ultramarine scales got handed out with additional rewards from the guild.
I already have something made with the Black Dragon materials, but for the Sea Dragon scales I have made an order to get a little bit of time left.
"Are you excited about your order too?"
"I'm only getting arrow heads out of those sharp scales." She said indifferently. "You are the only one who gets excited here. That order of yours is too bizarre."
Of course, she wouldn't understand it in the slightest. She is not from my world and therefore cannot fathom the value of my new weapon.
As we accompanied one another, we proceeded towards the blacksmith's establishment situated in Rosenburg.
Now standing before the blacksmith workshop, we were instantly greeted by the owner of it.
A man of the Dwarf race having a muscular but short build with a timed orange beard. His name is Oseye of the Breeze Hills.
"Well if it isn't the Flourishing Calamity himself."
His taunting tone has some background reasoning to it after I placed my orders.
"Now get over here you two. Got your orders ready to go."
As I followed him to an area closer to the stove, I caught witness to my otaku being weapons.
Since the scales were of incredible sharpness, a cutting weapon was the most appropriate choice.
However, there weren't any parts that were long enough to turn them into swords. And sticking multiple parts together to a single edge was too complicated.
An idea occurred when put three of those scales together.
Sticking three of them together and keeping the flat side protected with metal, my very first shurikens and kunais have been created.
There were double and single edged throwing stars with additional throwing knives right before me.
Another bag lied next to them probably containing Sara's arrowheads that she ordered after getting the Sea Dragon scales.
Next those was the even more insane order I had. A giant three bladed shuriken.
This one was made from the Sea Dragon's fins, which have also the effects like the scales.
"I don't know how you want to throw that big one. It's as heavy as a great sword and- what in the-?!"
I lifted the bigger one thanks to Gravity Magic. This, plus the help of [Specter Force], will be my method of controlling their trajectory once I throw them.
The smaller ones can easily be used with Gravity and Wind Magic once I get the hang of throwing them.
The bigger one is about 70 centimeters on one blade. If the blades weren't so wide, I would've turned it into a greatswords instead.
The kunai ones make great double edged daggers, so I keep two of them on a sling on my thigh and keep four shurikens in an extra pouch. I'm becoming a magic ninja here.
After many inspections on these scales, I have found out more details to their special attribute.
Just as I thought, they have a mana input mechanism that allows them to separate the mana of Touki and Barrier Magic apart.
Like a fast growing bamboo sprout, it grows out its edges within and advances into the enemy.
Maintenance on these ninja dream like weapons will be therefore easier as they sharpen themselves at every use.
Those tests have also shown that they don't harm Attack Magic as much. The Sea Dragon just used the number of scales it had against me.
And as for the weak point of the scale, a special type of metal was used to cover it. And it's because of that metal that the bigger one became heavier than it should.
The black stone made from my Earth Magic has been pulverized and mixed with iron sand to create a special of metal, sturdier than what most blacksmiths have ever seen.
"Still, to think that such a young lad could make stones of this density. Dwarf God would be eager to get tones of those."
"Dwarf God? You mean the master blacksmith centuries ago?"
"No, no. I mean the current Dwarf God, Godbeard."
So there was a new one? I only ever heard of a master blacksmith of the Dwarf race who reached God class in Earth Magic. Not much else pops up in my mind since I spent most of my spare time as Eris's tutor to learn other languages.
"Say, lad," Oseye said, having a wide toothy grin on his face. "Could you perhaps make a few more of those black stones for me? I would like to send a few of those to the Dwarf Territory for Dwarf God to inspect."
"… you want to use it as a bragging tool, don't you?"
"Maybe."
Wow. Guess the realm of blacksmithing is more competitive than I thought. It's not like I would dislike it, as making them hasn't turned out to be difficult at all. Just fully releasing the input of ambient mana and I can make tones of those.
"I… guess I can do that, since you made this outrageous border of mine."
"Exactly."
Well, that made it obvious. I have no idea how much he had struggled to make sure the scales didn't break in the making process, but it had to be difficult if he answers like this.
Joan and him had it both tough thanks to me.
"By the way, how's that sword you're working on doing?"
"Oh, right. Here, let me get it quick."
Opening my pocket dimension, I pulled out the final product of what I made with the Black Dragon parts.
Since the poison is still powerful enough to singe off through Touki and Barrier Magic, Oseye did not work with such dangerous materials.
Within the scales of the Black Dragon were actually crystals. And before I could get my hopes up, it ended up being a singular attribute Magic Stones. Poison.
What surprised me is that it didn't exactly produce its own poison, but rather boosted one created by the user. Meaning, the Black Dragon conjured its own poison and let it get multiplied by its crystals.
How do I know that? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have found a type of unique magic. It's the polar opposite of Detoxification Magic and has been dubbed by me as Toxic Magic.
A type of magic that turns mana into various kinds of toxic substances and even gas.
So far, I can conjure acid that can disperse the solidified mana formed for Touki and Barrier Magic to a certain degree. There are some gases, but I'm unaware of their effects on living beings due to the lack of monsters to test it on.
It wasn't easy to do, but after I realized that the Black Dragon wasn't simply using its crystals alone, I thought about the possibility of conjuring it myself. And thanks to the crystals, I have been able to recreate this magic.
At first, I feared hurting myself from the acid, but turns out it doesn't harm the user itself.
That way the Black Dragon was able to store all the poison in its body until it needed it.
I only found this Unique Magic a month ago, so I can't tell if that's the case forever.
I decided to create a sword out of it, using about a dozen of those small crystals. The Touki dissolving function and acidic powers will make it a sword practically perfect for Magicians like me.
Despite the magic being harmless to me, it doesn't show mercy to my Touki and dissolves it even when I put on.
But, as I needed to make the materials extra sturdy and the edge especially sharp, concentrating my Earth Magic to become more durable was crucial. That brought a result on it own as I managed to create metal out of mana.
Logically as with normal Earth Magic, I needed to put the required amount of mana into it to get the highest level of metal density.
That, however, has made it a bit on the heavier side, but not too much for me to struggle on holding it. And as a precaution to reduce some weight, I made tubes within the blade that had holes on both sides of the back of the blade. Nine on each side.
The crystals placed on the cross guard until close to the tip of the blade.
With some advice from Oseye, who had a little experience making swords with Magic Stones, I managed to connect the crystals with each other and connect it to the hilt of the sword.
There are just two problems with it.
"The heck? I understand that you made tubes to allow the poison to escape, but why make them look like your arms?"
The black sword I'm holding as of now was mostly black with a leather handle made by the Black Dragon hide. But what stood out the most are the purple veins all over the blade that made it look like my internal scars have expanded onto it.
"That wasn't the intent. I made them into straight lines, but after a few uses, they ended up looking like this."
"Well, does it still work?"
"Yes. The effects are even better than I had hoped. Even boulders made from the black stones are getting sliced by it."
"Wait, why hasn't it dissolved yet? Shouldn't the acid damage it from the inside?"
"I had a few tests with the poison created with the crystals. I placed one of them at the end of a two Treant branch before finding out that it doesn't harm the user. The branch dissolved before I could properly test it, so I used two metal sticks instead, and the poison didn't seem to affect it at all."
"Have you ever tried using one of those sharp scales on the tip of it?"
"I tried that, but the tip got dissolved after a single use. My theory on this is as such: The toxic substances harm anything organic that isn't me, but anything non-organic takes a bit stronger substances to dissolve, unless it was directly connected to the crystal when it was made."
After having found that all out, my decision on making a sword was even easier.
Before the idea of a sword, there was the plan of making a trident like one of a Superd's, but I was more trained with sword and haven't gotten any lessons on spearmanship from Ruijerd.
There was the idea of making a poison gun out of it, but Toxic Magic isn't flying like my Attack Magic. And there wasn't a Magic Tool shop here that had something even close to a shooting weapon like those in my world.
The Neris Kingdom actually is the most well-developed country in the Magic Tools department.
"Here, let me see."
As I handed over the sword, he inspected it for any flaws notable.
"There isn't much to say that this sword lacks, since it is meant to be used along with magic. The edge is certainly made with perfect sharpness. And since you made it purely out of magic, I can't see flaws around the blade like possible impurities. Since you are the only Magic user I have ever gotten as a customer, I cannot see anyone besides you using this weapon. Especially since it is a type of Magic I never even heard of before."
He handed me the sword over again with a toothy grin.
"That is, until you have finished teaching people your method."
I meekly smiled at his obvious hidden intention.
"You're saying that because you can prepare yourself mentally for the strange orders you might get in the future."
"Just trying to prepare at least something for an incoming generation."
I chuckled at the sheer truth behind his words. Nobody can see how chantless magic would affect many parts of the world including the influence it will have on society.
Who knows, maybe once Zenith has been rescued, I could very well become a teacher and further spread the use of chantless Magic around the world.
It would be nice to become a teacher like Roxy, but I have a lot to learn before that can happen. The five children whom I am currently instructing are only the beginning of the challenges that I anticipate encountering in the future.
Now, on to the next issue with my sword.
The sword… well… how do I say? It is practically identical in shape to the one Paul always wore on his waist.
A psychological issue stemming from my conflict with him led me to make this one look like his. Only when I looked at the finished product did I realize how I had it made.
But it's not like it's worthless to me now. In fact, I still want to keep it and use it for other monsters I might encounter against.
Although unlikely to happen, we don't know the cause of those overpowered monsters.
But should there be more, then I will fight them prepared and with confidence.
With this sword, I may honor the sword training Paul and Ghislaine have put me through.
"I didn't know you could use a sword."
Sara, who had been patiently listening on the sidelines, finally spoke a word of her own.
"Well, my parents did originally intend to make me teach swordsmanship if I was a boy."
"Hah! What a waste that was." Oseye remarked.
"That sounds like something many parents do." Sara said.
"If I hadn't awoken my Touki so late, I might have done better in it. But even when it did, a different problem prevented me putting that training to use."
They both looked at me as if they thought I didn't have talent, but that's not exactly right or wrong.
I sparred with Soldat a few times, and we both found out that I don't necessarily lack talent, but the fact that Touki is missing hindered any of my progress.
Just as Ghislaine once told, North God Style seems to suit me the best.
If Paul hadn't been so stubborn with his opinion that North God Style isn't even a real style, then I'd have at least a better idea of how to incorporate my magic better than throwing knives around.
I don't even know if what Randolph did to vanish from my detection was something of the North God Style.
I can only berate myself for killing him before I got at least one piece of advice that included this technique. If I were to encounter invisibility magic, I would have been able to seamlessly integrate it and acquire an impeccable spying option.
But for now, these shurikens and kunais, along with this sword will do. Whether it be monsters or individuals, I am now more equipped to handle them than before.
