In the beginning, all was dark and formless. From this formlessness arose the Dragon Saints, keepers of the elements. In unity, these Dragon Saints created the world and ruled it in peace as they preserved the balance.

There was once a legendary ninja warrior; he was blessed with the power of the Dragon Saints. He wielded a powerful Sword called Rai, named after the god of lightning. From the temple of the Fire ryu arose another powerful Samurai warrior. This warrior too had the power of the elements but he grew proud and was easily filled with hatred. From then on he sought to destroy the other ryu, the Earth ryu, the Water ryu, the Wind ryu, the Crystal ryu, the Dark ryu, the Light ryu, the Hidden ryu and his own Flame Ryu. These ryu were special ninja clans under which each elemental ninja studied under.

Gaiden, the ninja who wielded the Sword of Rai battled the evil Shekan and sealed him in stone with the power of the Dragon Seal. Legend has it that Gaiden also sealed himself in stone.

Centuries of peace prevailed. Now a new legendary warrior must arise and battle Shekan before the complete alignment of the six moons of Tristran or the world will forever be held in Shekan's evil grip.
