Chapter 48 - Impending Doom

The situation was drawing to a conclusion. Walkure was running out of cards.

Amadeus was calmly walking towards her, while the not too far away ethernal was on her knees due to the aftermath of the last attack she received.

"No...I will not fall here."

Would she be able to contend against him with Iron Maiden? Perhaps. It was her best shot. But its cooldown had still not ended. She'd need to buy time and survive for some more minutes still, which seemed unlikely.

"Is that so? Then, prove your worth, ethernal warrior."

She had to rely on other things for the time being.

Walkure stood up and calmed herself.

"It's still under progress, but I have no choice here."

A purplish aura starts gathering around her. Next, she says while seeming to be chanting words.

"Potens, da mihi vires et multitudinem, ut hostem ante me stantem vincas, nihil enim est tua potentia non capax. Yehoshua!"

It seemed to be some kind of prayer. Walkure didn't actually think there was a supreme God out there, but the chant subjectively made her sorcery more powerful. It could be due to a god existing, or not. It didn't matter in any case.

Next, she steps on the ground and jumps towards the accursed one.

"You have guts indeed."

He says while delivering an uppercut as the ethernal approaches him. It was a sure hit.

Her head flies off..No, it was blown up, completely turned into dust.

What had been the purpose of this? A mindless assault? Amadeus thinks.

His doubts were cleared in the next second, as two Walkures appeared behind him.

"You..."

Before he finished his sentence they both carved their claws on his back. Of course, this wouldn't amount to much, considering the toughness of his body. But it didn't end there. From their claws, they spawned a supermassive black hole condensed to the size of a volleyball. It retained all its properties such as mass and gravitational energy.

But as an accursed, any supernatural ability would fail against them. So, this attack would simply get negated...under normal circumstances, that is.

"!!!"

The sheer weight of the claws imbued with the black holes was enough to bury his body into the ground up to the core. This was because these weren't supernaturally created black holes, but natural ones, transported through quantum tunneling out of Walkure's claws, which warped the dimensions of space-time.

"Very crafty of you...I applaud that."

Amadeus says while clinching his right fist and delivering a punch that decimated both the planet and the two Walkures into nothingness.

However, four more Walkures appeared behind him this time.

They all created their own sword made of antimatter and try to slash the accursed in front of them.

"Ridiculous."

He says while wiping them out with a roundhouse kick.

Next, sixteen Walkure appeared behind him, and tried to attack him with elemental spheres.

"..."

Needless to say, they suffered the same fate as the others.

This process kept going. Her clones multiplied exponentially by a factor of 2. Defeat 2, and 4 would appear. Defeat 4, and 16 would appear. Defeat 16, and 256 more would appear. Defeat 256, and 65536 would appear. A ridiculous power indeed. But numbers didn't matter to the man who carried the fist of destruction.

But were these simply just clones? No, they were all Walkure, with the same powers, same strength, same speed...but all sharing the same mind.

What is she expecting to achieve with this? Amadeus thinks.

Then, a random Walkure appears behind him, carrying 10 condensed galaxies with telekinesis, and throws them at the accursed one.

Amadeus delivers a simple punch that wipes out both the galaxies and 90% of that Walkure's body, with only her head left. This had been done purposefully.

"You shall give me information."

And it was exactly as he said. With his Apoptosis, he punched away the information stored in that Walkure's head, which thus allowed him to see and understand her plan.

"I see, so your strongest card had yet to be used."

Monster, Walkure thinks. His power defied reason.

"I do not know the specifics of this card of yours, but I'm not so kind to let that happen and risk it. I shall finish you here and now."

His fists, which had been covered by a yellowish spiral aura all this time, start to become reddish.

"Destinatus Apoptosis."

Like any other of his attacks, he delivered a punch. Not a normal punch, but one that wiped out all the Walkures that were present in this sector. Normally, this would just serve for even more Walkures to spawn, but he had punched away and destroyed that truth.

"Tch!"

Only a single Walkure was remaining now, which at some point had hidden inside an invisible 100th-dimensional shape. However...

"Useless."

That too had been destroyed and punched away. Now it was just her, and she was out of cards.

"Crumble before the fist of destruction."

The next punch would destroy her completely. Differently from the normal Apoptosis, the Destinatus Apoptosis granted the target an extra ending effect. Not only the very power of Amadeus was taken into account, but the enemy in question would lose its place in reality metaphysically. An end to all narrative cause. This strike was unavoidable. No amount of power, speed, or abilities would be able to overturn this effect, even if they were infinite in scale. And even after the destruction of the individual, resurrection or regeneration was impossible.

"You had fought well."

He delivered a punch in the empty space in front of him. He wasn't particularly aiming at Walkure's body, which not only was light-years away from him but also in another direction. This ultimately didn't matter, as his ability would punch away the truth that his punch didn't land, making it land in any case, no matter the distance or dimension.

She had reached her doom...or so she thought. At the moment the punch was performed, a wall of darkness covered Walkure's body, acting as an armor that, despite being destroyed by the attack, still managed to save her at the last moment.

"..."

Amadeus watched as a black silhouette gradually appeared from behind Walkure, which also had a humanoid shape and was slightly taller than her. A raging flow of darkness, with white eyes that contained a gaze that would suck away the spirit of anyone met by it, and a presence that would leave even the most powerful of wills in shambles.

He was strong. Amadeus thought after looking at him once. Absurdly strong. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he was more of an anomaly than any accursed could ever be. A glitch in reality and unreality that should not be. A state that defied classical and paradoxical logic.

"Brother...", Walkure says in surprise as she immediately recognizes the entity beside her.

"Sister, I saw you were in a difficult situation. Mother would not tolerate the fall of one more of us."

Darkness had arrived.
