"Sorry for what?" Tell me, what is wrong with you." Kelvin asked in a cold voice. The man's gaze was cold, making Natali's body tremble with fear.
Natali didn't know how to answer his question. Why did things not go as she planned? Why did her plan fail miserably?
She planned to make things look like Kelvin was having an affair with Luliyah. Thus, she as a victim of the affair, was forced to cancel the engagement. That was her initial plan. The plan that she had arranged perfectly.
Who would have thought that her plan, which had originally gone smoothly would be exposed?
She didn't expect Kelvin to announce in front of everybody that they both were in a cooperate matchmaking engagement, while Luliyah was the woman the loved.
Kelvin rarely appeared in public. But for the sake of Luliyah, he publicly announced that he chose to cancel the engagement and end his partnership with the Parker Company. All of that was just for Luliyah.
How could everyone fail to see the way the man defended the woman he loved? How could he defend a woman so much, that he was willing to give up everything?
What about Natali?
Natali had to endure pain as her skin was burnt by hot coffee. She had to visit several dermatologists and beauticians so that the burn won't leave scars on her skin.
Worse yet, she became the clown of the story. Everyone secretly laughed at her and insulted her. Everyone made fun of her because she was used as a matchmaking tool by her parents. Not only that, Kelvin didn't even want to accept her and just threw her away.
There wasn't a single person standing up for her....
Her reputation was ruined. Everyone thought of her as an evil woman who set up her sister. Will there even be any man that would approach her after knowing all this? It wouldn't be a stretch to say no man would want to marry her.
Seeing Natali idle, Martins felt impatient. He was afraid that Kelvin was getting angry because Natali didn't say anything. He couldn't stay still. In the end, he decided to speak up.
"Kelvin, Natali and Luliyah are sisters. They are siblings. Natali knows that Luliyah likes you, so she doesn't want to compete with her sister. Unfortunately, she chose to take such a childish decision."
Luliyah looked at her father with disbelief. What nonsense was her father saying? Since when did her father become good in making up stories?
Kelvin looked away then turned to look at Martins, "Am I asking you?" He interrupted Martins's words.
Martins could feel Kelvin's sharp gaze. His hands was getting sweaty. He didn't dare make the slightest sound. In the end, he turned to look at Luliyah. He wanted to ask for help.
Seeing her father's gaze that landed on her, Luliyah felt angry and helpless. On the other hand, she was annoyed that her father only considered her existence at times like this. It was only when he needed help, he knew that she existed. Since the time they entered the house, her father did not even glance at her. Not a bit.
Still, what could she do? There was nothing she could do if Natali was not truly sincere and regretted what she had done.
She just shook her head at her father. All of this was for his own good. The more the father defended Natali, the angrier Kelvin would be.
Natali has wronged both her and Kelvin, so she should admit her mistake and apologize sincerely. She should quit pretending and defending herself like this.
Kelvin looked angry and was lazy to hear the excuses coming out of their mouths. He was not stupid and could see that Natali was not sincere in apologizing. Even if she apologized a thousand times, Kelvin would never be satisfied with her apology.
"I...I..." Natali stammered. She looked up and saw Kelvin was looking at her. Her heart was beating fast when she saw his gaze.
She was confused, 'Can Kelvin see? If he could see, why is he pretending to be blind... But if he is blind, why does his gaze feel so sharp? Those eyes look sharp and really scary'
"Luliyah, please help your sister. Please help dad to resolve this situation. No matter what Natali has done, she is still your sister." Martins begged Luliyah.
Hearing her father defending Natali, Luliyah could feel jealousy in her heart. Natali had done something wrong but her father kept on defending her as if her mistake wasn't a big deal. How about her? She's the victim. Did her father not think about her feelings?
In the end, Luliyah only answered coldly, "If she has done something wrong and harmed others, can everything be settled by just saying sorry? Especially if Natali said it without sincerity. She didn't even feel guilty at all. How can she be forgiven?"
The words were so sharp that it stabbed Natali head-on and brought her back to her senses. But unlike Luliyah's expectation, her answer made her father glare at her. Her father opened his mouth and spoke loudly. He asked Luliyah to listen to him clearly.
"Don't talk about things that are not important. Hurry and tell me how to make Kelvin forgive Natali." Kelvin smiled sheepishly.
When she heard her father, Luliyah's body stiffened. Disappointment radiated on her face. Her face looked pale when she heard what her father said. Her father did not even try to understand her. Was her explanation lacking?
Luliyah could not hold back the disappointment in her heart so she said in a high tone, "I am the victim in this trouble that Natali caused. Why are you still defending Natali?"
Martins got angry because Luliyah didn't want to help him. His daughter openly rejected his plea and talked back at him in front of Kelvin. It was embarrassing. "Luliyah, You..." Martins shouted angrily.
When Martins spoke up, Kelvin suddenly cut him off and said, "Mr Martins, do you know that Natali wanted to cancel her engagement with me?"
Martins was stunned when he heard this and immediately explained, "Kelvin, you misunderstood. Natali had no intention of breaking her engagement with you. She still hasn't graduated. She was waiting to finish schooling before getting married. But, it looks like Luliyah also has feelings for you. The two sisters love each other and they did't want to compete with each other. So, Natali decided to give Luliyah the chance to be with you so that there won't be any misunderstanding." Martins explained in a hurry.
Luliyah was really disappointed to hear her father's response. Looks like her father has become a skilled story teller who make up stories. She really didn't want to hear any of this nonsense anymore.
Kelvin raised his eyebrows when he heard Martins's answer. Then, he asked Luliyah in a sarcastic tone, "Luliyah, do you love your sister Natali?"
Luliyah looked at Natali who was still kneeling on the ground without the slightest pity and replied calmly, "I don't have a younger sister."
